Chicago Sky Coach Has One Reason for Angel Reese Losing Playing Time
The Chicago Sky now own a 6-13 record during the 2025 WNBA season after Wednesday's win against the Dallas Wings. The 87-76 win moved them into 10th place in the league standings.

Second-year forward Angel Reese led the way for Chicago, recording her seventh-straight double-double with 15 points and 11 rebounds. Veteran wing Rebecca Allen poured in a game-high 27 points, which was also her season-best scoring output.
Reese had played 32 minutes or more in six consecutive contests before the matchup against the Wings, as well as 34 minutes or more in four straight. However, she only played 29 minutes in Wednesday's win.

Rookie forward Maddy Westbeld has begun playing more in July, appearing in each of the team's three games and averaging seven minutes per contest. Before these games, she had not subbed into four straight contests.

Westbeld's recent surge in playing time, however, has allowed other key rotational players to play fewer minutes. First-year Sky head coach Tyler Marsh admitted on Saturday that Reese is able to relax a bit more with Westbeld finally adjusting to the WNBA.
"Maddy Westbeld has shown growth in adjusting to the speed of the game, and she has been beneficial in helping reduce Angel Reese's minutes as of late," Coach Marsh said, via Chicago State of Mind Sports.
Reese is averaging 13.3 points, a league-leading 12.8 rebounds and a career-best 3.8 assists per game this season. She was named to her second consecutive All-Star team on Sunday.

Westbeld has only played in nine of the team's 19 contests this season, and she is averaging 1.7 points, 1.7 rebounds and 0.3 assists per contest.
The Sky's game against the 18-3 Minnesota Lynx tips off at 1:00 p.m. ET on Saturday at Wintrust Arena in Chicago.

NFL Hall of Famer played surprising role in Colorado's Deion Sanders' cancer recovery
Deion Sanders revealed on Monday that he was recently diagnosed with bladder cancer. The Colorado Buffaloes head coach shared during a press conference that doctors discovered a tumor on his bladder earlier this year. The tumor—and later the entire bladder—was removed, and Sanders, 57, is now cancer-free, according to his medical team. Naturally, Sanders received overwhelming support from family and friends throughout his battle. But he noted that fellow NFL Hall of Famer Randy Moss was especially instrumental in his recovery. "Randy Moss called me every other day to make sure I was straight," Sanders said, via Fox Sports. "Randy Moss prayed for me. He and his wife told me what I needed to be doing. He's gone through some things very similar." Moss recently fought his own cancer battle. The former Minnesota Vikings star was forced to step away from his role as an ESPN NFL analyst last December to deal with bile duct cancer. He returned in time for the network's Super Bowl 59 coverage and is expected to be back full-time this season on 'Sunday NFL Countdown.' As for Sanders, many feared he might be preparing to step away from coaching altogether. A video surfaced Monday showing Sanders acknowledging that he was preparing to make his will, which fueled speculation about his future in Boulder. Follow The Sporting News on WhatsApp Thankfully, that isn't the case. Sanders is set to embark on his third season leading Colorado. "It was never in my spirit, in my heart, I would never coach again," Sanders said, via On3's Brett McMurphy. Although life may now look a little different for Sanders, he made it clear he's in good spirits and ready to coach. And that's nothing but a positive sign for Colorado. Over the past two years, Sanders and the Buffaloes have become one of the most must-see teams in college football.
