Doncaster NHS practitioner to swim English Channel for charity
Ms Bull has previously taken part in the challenging Ironman World Championships and the Ice Swimming World Championships.However, she said this was her first time swimming the Channel and she did not want to let down the charities or her team, who have named themselves the Riptide Racers.To prepare for the challenge, she has been swimming in either a pool or open water four times a week.
'Truly inspiring'
Raising money for the NHS Trust was special, she said, and she hoped it could "improve patient outcomes and working conditions for colleagues".She added the SwimTayka charity was also important to her because she felt "privileged in terms of being able to swim"."I've come across so many people who can't swim, and actually adults as well," she said."It's great they're teaching kids in undeveloped places how to do it - it's a great charity to be involved in."Suzy Brain England OBE, chair of the board at DBTH, said: "Ellie's determination and commitment, both in her clinical role and through this extraordinary fundraising challenge, are truly inspiring."On behalf of the board, we are incredibly proud of Ellie and wish her and the Riptide Racers every success as they take on the English Channel."The team will be on standby to swim between 11 and 18 July, with the exact day being chosen based on the swimming conditions.

PREMIER League clubs are raking in a record £600million from kit deals this season. The 20 top-flight clubs negotiated an additional £65million from shirt producers on top of last season's deals. Most of the total — £563million — is going to the ten biggest clubs. Manchester City and Liverpool will both get £100million from their tie-ups with Puma and Adidas respectively. They have overtaken Manchester United after the Red Devils finished 15th last year and failed to get a trophy. The kit deals are separate from the huge amounts paid by sponsors, who can now pay extra to have their logos on sleeves as well as their names emblazoned on the front of the shirt. The most popular maker is the German sportswear giant adidas, which has kit deals with eight Premier League clubs. The Leeds deal is worth £5million a year while fellow Premier League new boys Burnley have a £1million agreement with Castore. Sunderland, who won promotion through the play-offs, get the least, with a £500,000 deal with Hummel. Liverpool signed a five-year contract with adidas after switching from Nike. Adidas will give the Reds a flat fee of £30million per season, plus royalties of 20 per cent on all net sales of club merchandise. Birkenhead power cut hits hundreds of homes as cup tie postponed
Hundreds of homes in Birkenhead have been left without Energy Networks said an "unexpected" power cut at 18:52 BST had affected the CH42 area of Birkenhead in Wirral and warned problems were likely to continue until 23:07."In most cases, our engineers can get your power back on by simply replacing a fuse at the local substation, however, if the fault is complex, this may take us longer to fix," its website power cut led to the postponement, shortly before the scheduled 19:45 kick-off, of the Carabao Cup tie between Tranmere Rovers and Burton Albion. "We sincerely apologise for the inconvenience caused and we appreciate your patience," Tranmere Rovers posted on X."We will provide further updates after a meeting with the EFL in the morning."
