ExpressVPN launches servers in every US state – here's why you should care

Tom's Guide2 days ago
ExpressVPN has upgraded its server network to include one in every US state. There are now 62 server locations across the country, up from 24.
ExpressVPN is one of the only providers on our best VPN list that can claim this title. Private Internet Access (PIA) – also owned by Kape Technologies – is the only other VPN we recommend that has a server in every US state.
Operating servers in every US state means faster speeds for ExpressVPN users. There can be a wider distribution of server load – the number of people using a particular server at one time – but users are also physically closer to them.
The launch of the new servers has seen ExpressVPN increase its US server count by 38, with multiple servers in the high-demand areas of Los Angeles and New Jersey.
All of ExpressVPN's servers are physical, but there won't necessarily be a physical server in every state. A proportion of locations are virtual servers and your traffic is routed through a physical server nearby.
Regardless of this, your IP address will always match that of your chosen state.
The new servers run on ExpressVPN's TrustedServer technology. This is RAM-only and wipes all data every time it reboots – a reboot cycle is completed every week.
Fast speeds will also be delivered thanks to ExpressVPN's unique Lightway Turbo protocol. In our latest round of testing, we saw ExpressVPN hit speeds of 890+ Mbps, which makes it one of the fastest VPNs.
Shay Peretz, Chief Information Officer at ExpressVPN said the provider wanted to "meet users where they are."
"People want privacy that works with the rest of their lives. They want tools that match the digital environments around them, without friction. Our goal is to make that possible without sacrificing security or speed," he added.
ExpressVPN has servers across all of the US, covering 62 locations and 50 states. How does this compare to its competitors?
In the grand scheme of things, having a server in every US state isn't crucial. Major locations such as New York, Texas, Florida, Chicago, and California will always be covered.
For those connecting from outside the US, state-specific servers aren't normally required. But for those living in the US, there may be a need to connect to a server in a certain state.
The US has state and federal governments, meaning laws can differ from state to state. Websites can be blocked or restricted in certain states and you may want to connect from another state to access them.
Bypassing broadcasting blackouts can be another reason you may need a server in every US state. Sports broadcasting has a history of blackouts, and certain agreements may result in a game not being broadcast for some viewers.
Ticket sales, distance from the ground, and exclusive rights deals are all reasons blackouts may occur.
You should ensure you're not breaking any laws or terms and conditions before using a VPN to access restricted content.
Finally, as mentioned above, having geographically closer servers can improve speeds and help distribute server load.
We test and review VPN services in the context of legal recreational uses. For example: 1. Accessing a service from another country (subject to the terms and conditions of that service). 2. Protecting your online security and strengthening your online privacy when abroad. We do not support or condone the illegal or malicious use of VPN services. UK lifts ban on Pakistani airlines after improvement in air safety standards

The UK has lifted a years-long ban on Pakistani airlines following improvements in the country's aviation safety standards, the British diplomatic mission in Islamabad said. The Air Safety Committee imposed the ban after Pakistan's aviation minister in June 2020 disclosed that nearly one-third of the country's pilots had cheated on their licensing exams. The claim came after a Pakistan International Airlines crash killed 97 people on May 24, 2020, in the southern city of Karachi. Wednesday's announcement follows a broader international recognition of Pakistan's efforts to improve air safety. #PIA is all set to resume flights to 🇬🇧 It became possible after adherence to the most stringent flight safety standards, reviewed by the UK's Air Safety Committee. Special thanks to @PakPMO, @KhawajaMAsif, @OfficialPCAA, @ukinpakistan & @JaneMarriottUK for personal interest &… — PIA (@Official_PIA) July 16, 2025 Earlier this year, the European Union Aviation Safety Agency also lifted its five-year ban, allowing the national flag carrier Pakistan International Airlines to resume direct flights to Europe. British High Commissioner Jane Marriott said that after 'extensive engagement' between the UK's Air Safety Committee and the Pakistan Civil Aviation Authority, restrictions on Pakistani airlines have now been lifted. However, Ms Marriott said individual airlines will still need to apply for operating permits from the UK Civil Aviation Authority. 'I'm grateful to aviation experts in both the UK and Pakistan for their collaborative work to meet international safety standards,' she said. 'While it will take time for flights to resume, once the logistics are in place, I look forward to using a Pakistani carrier when visiting family and friends.' The high commission emphasised that decisions on delisting countries or carriers from the UK Air Safety List are made through an independent safety process overseen by the Air Safety Committee. With more than 1.6 million people of Pakistani heritage living in the UK, and thousands of British nationals residing in Pakistan, it said the move will help families to reconnect and potentially boost bilateral trade ties. Pakistan's defence minister Khawaja Mohammad Asif welcomed the decision. Speaking at a televised news conference on Wednesday, he attributed the ban to what he described as 'baseless' remarks made by former aviation minister Ghulam Sarwar Khan. He said Mr Khan's claim tarnished the country's image and triggered significant financial losses for Pakistan International Airlines.

Protect every smart device in your home with ExpressVPN's Aircove router Amazon Prime Day deal

VPNs are an ideal tool to protect you and your device online. But what if you want VPN protection for your entire Wi-Fi network? You can set up one of the best VPNs onto your Wi-Fi router but installing a VPN on a router can be tricky, especially if you're a VPN beginner. However, ExpressVPN has simplified things and boasts two portable Wi-Fi 6 routers, Aircove and Aircove Go. This makes it the best router VPN out there. They come pre-loaded with ExpressVPN software and are super simple to install – and this Amazon Prime Day, they're 30% off. We've not seen Aircove this discounted since last year's Amazon Prime Day. But the saving then was only 25%, making this a better deal. ExpressVPN: the best VPN for beginnersExpressVPN is simple, and easy-to-use, with a range of great apps. Its Aircove routers come pre-loaded with VPN technology, creating your very own private and secure Wi-Fi network. What you get with ExpressVPN...• The best router VPN, thanks to Aircove• Speeds of over 850 Mbps• Protection for up to 8 devices• Post-quantum encryption• 3,000+ servers in 105 countries• Ad & tracker blocker• Keys password manager • Verified no-logs policy • 24/7 live chat• 30-day money-back gurantee• 28 months of protection for $4.99 per month ($139.72 up front) Both Aircove, and the smaller, more portable, Aircove Go, are discounted this Amazon Prime Day. Prime Day runs from July 8-11 2025 and it's a great time to grab an Airove router. The Aircove router is designed for home and office use. It creates a secure Wi-Fi network, which offers VPN protection for all your smart devices – including smart doorbells, smart TVs, and smart cookers, as well as your usual smart devices. The standard Aircove router is now $131.03 on Amazon, down from its regular price of $189.90. The Aircove Go router is a smaller, portable alternative. It's designed for travel and on-the-go protection, ideal for hotel rooms, small apartments, and public spaces. Aircove Go is now $117.23 on Amazon, with its usual price being $169.90. These prices are exclusive to Amazon Prime members so you'll need to ensure you're logged in or signed up to access the deal. It's a little more expensive than standard Wi-Fi 6 routers but privacy, security, and built-in VPN protection is its USP. New customers will receive a one month ExpressVPN subscription for free. But you will have to purchase a one or two-year ExpressVPN subscription for continued protection. The two-year ExpressVPN plan works out at $4.99 per month ($139.72 up front) and includes a free 5GB eSIM, as well as four extra months of protection. A one-year subscription is cheaper up front, but works out more expensive per month. It's $6.67 per month ($99.95 up front). This plan comes with a free 3GB eSIM and three extra months of protection. ExpressVPN's Aircove routers and its VPN plans come with a 30-day money-back guarantee. So you can claim your money back if the product isn't right for you. Smart devices can collect large amounts of personal data or be used as points of attack for hackers. Installing a VPN router will go a long way to protect against this, and this deal sees Aircove drop to a very competitive price.
