CapitaLand plans ₹19,200 crore push into Mumbai, Pune real estate markets by 2030
The announcement was made at the launch of CLI's first data centre in India, located in Navi Mumbai on August 12.
The company said that Gan Kim Yong, Singapore's Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Trade and Industry, and Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis graced the launch event.
It said CapitaLand's investments will cover business parks, data centres, logistics, and industrial parks in Maharashtra, where it has operated since 2013.
According to the company statement, CLI's presence in Maharashtra commenced in 2013 with the launch of International Tech Park Pune, Hinjawadi (ITPP-H), developed in partnership with the Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC).

Over the past decade, CLI has significantly expanded its footprint in Mumbai and Pune, investing over ₹6,800 crores (S$1 billion) across 10 assets spanning business parks, data centres and logistics facilities, the company said in a statement.

The planned investments in Maharashtra are an integral part of CLI's broader growth strategy for India, where the company aims to increase its funds under management. They will be across business parks, data centres, logistics and industrial parks, demonstrating CLI's confidence in Maharashtra's emergence as a hub for innovation, services, digital infrastructure, manufacturing and logistics, the company said in a statement.

At ministerial roundtable, India, Singapore agree to expand cooperation in key areas
NEW DELHI: India and Singapore on Wednesday reviewed bilateral cooperation in key areas such as connectivity, digitalisation, healthcare and skilling and identified new initiatives for collaboration. The 3rd India Singapore Ministerial Roundtable (ISMR) was held in New Delhi on Wednesday. (@DrSJaishankar X) These matters were discussed at the third meeting of the India-Singapore Ministerial Roundtable (ISMR), a special mechanism created in 2022 to advance cooperation in crucial sectors such as technology, investments and advanced manufacturing. The two sides reviewed the progress on cooperation under the six pillars of ISMR - advanced manufacturing, connectivity, digitalisation, healthcare and medicine, skills development and sustainability. The two sides also 'deliberated on ways to further deepen bilateral cooperation, particularly under these six pillars, and identified a number of specific initiatives to pursue,' the external affairs ministry said in a readout. The Indian delegation included finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman, external affairs minister S Jaishankar, commerce minister Piyush Goyal, and electronics and information technology minister Ashwini Vaishnaw. The Singapore team included deputy prime minister Gan Kim Yong, coordinating minister for national security K Shanmugam, foreign minister Vivian Balakrishnan, digital development minister Josephine Teo, manpower minister Tan See Leng and acting transport minister Jeffrey Siow. The ministers from Singapore also met President Droupadi Murmu. People familiar with the matter said about 10 agreements covering topics under the six pillars of the ISMR were finalised during the meeting. These agreements are expected to be unveiled during a meeting between the prime ministers of the two countries next month. Deputy prime minister Gan, who is also Singapore's trade minister, visited Mumbai on Tuesday to take stock of investments by Singapore companies – PSA's Bharat Mumbai Container Terminal (PSA Mumbai) Phase 2 and CapitaLand Investment's (CLI) new data centre in Navi Mumbai. These investments underscore Singapore's confidence in India's long-term economic trajectory, officials said. Gan and Maharashtra chief minister Devendra Fadnavis toured the port facilities and received a briefing from PSA on how the development of Phase 2 will enhance India's trade and maritime connectivity. Gan also witnessed the signing of an MoU between Mapletree Investments and the Maharashtra government to commit foreign direct investments equivalent to ₹3,000 crores in Maharashtra through the development of industrial parks, logistics parks and data centres. Gan inaugurated CLI's new data centre in Navi Mumbai, for which the firm is investing $453 million. The external affairs ministry said India views Singapore as an important partner in 'Act East' policy. Ties between the two sides were elevated to a comprehensive strategic partnership in September 2024.

IBM opens Mumbai client centre to support Maharashtra's quantum push
IBM on Tuesday announced the opening of its new India Client Experience Centre in Mumbai. As part of the facility's mission to support Indian enterprises in adopting AI, hybrid cloud, and quantum computing, the company signed a Letter of Intent (LoI) with the Government of Maharashtra to explore collaboration on the state's quantum initiatives. The LoI outlines areas of engagement, including providing insights and expertise to support Maharashtra's quantum vision, as well as contributing to the development of the state's quantum ecosystem through workshops and skills development programmes. Inaugurating the centre, Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis said, 'With AI, quantum computing, and semiconductors, we are building a Viksit Maharashtra and Viksit Bharat. I-day gift for citizens: Second sea-viewing promenade on Mumbai Coastal Road to be inaugurated today
Citizens are set to get their second sea-viewing promenade this Independence Day as the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) is set to open the 5.5km-long stretch of the 7.5 km-long Mumbai Coastal Road promenade on August 15. Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis will inaugurate the promenade on Thursday, and the promenade will be thrown open to citizens a day later. 'The promenade will be inaugurated virtually by the CM on Thursday. Citizens will be able to access the promenade from 4.30pm on Friday (August 15),' BMC commissioner Bhushan Gagrani and state-appointed administrator told the Indian Express on Wednesday. The 10km-long coastal road was opened to traffic in March last year. However, the promenade was yet to be opened since some balance work for the same was yet to be completed. The civil works were completed in the first week of July, and it was set for opening on July 15. However, the opening date was deferred by the authorities, and the final date of inauguration was awaiting confirmation. 'The civil works at the promenade have been completed. Only some last-minute ancillary works are underway at the spot, including cleaning of the surface, putting dustbins in place, painting of the track and road signages,' said an official. According to officials, the 7.5 km-long coastal road promenade will be opened in two phases. In the first phase that will be inaugurated on Thursday, the BMC will be opening 5.5km of the stretch, and in the second phase, the remaining 2km stretch will be opened. The 5.5km stretch will comprise walkways and sitting areas, similar to the Marine Drive. Besides these, the promenade will also include a cycle track. Civic officials said the promenade will be accessible via 19 pedestrian underpasses (PuP). These passes will originate from locations such as Khan Abdul Khan Gaffar Road, Haji Ali, and Lala Lajpat Road. 'There are a total of 19 PuPs in the coastal road, of which six will be opened initially at the time of inauguration of this promenade. The remaining PuPs will be opened in a phased manner,' an official said. Meanwhile, in a bid to enhance the greenery of this stretch, the civic body has planted 300 trees—including palm, Washington robusta, and Barringtonia—along the promenade. To cater to the large footfall that is being anticipated at the site, the BMC is also installing four bio-toilets along the promenade, which will be located near Amarsons Garden at Breach Candy, Mahalakshmi, while two are set to be erected in Worli. 'The remaining 2km of the promenade will take more time to open, as it was not included in the first phase of the plan, and a fresh tender was floated for this phase,' the official added.
