Shravasti tops grievance redressal index for May
Lucknow: Shravasti district emerged top among districts in the resolution of public grievances in May.
The rankings released by the CM Dashboard and the Integrated Grievance Redressal System (IGRS) show that Shahjahanpur is second, followed by Amethi in the third position.

personally monitoring the system, there was a marked decline in the number of unresolved complaints, as reflected in the May 2025 rankings," said a govt spokesperson.
Shravasti district magistrate Ajay Kumar Dwivedi said that a structured strategy was adopted in the district to ensure timely redressal of complaints.
Public hearings are conducted every day at 10 am, followed by continuous monitoring of the complaint redressal throughout the day. Pending cases are reviewed at 5 pm and cases where the complainant was dissatisfied with the resolution are assessed at 9 pm.
"With all officials treating grievance redressal as a priority, Shravasti consistently ranked among the top five districts in timely and high-quality grievance resolution," he said, adding that the district scored 137 out of 140 points in the May IGRS report, with a resolution rate of 97.86%.
Other top performers include Shahjahanpur in the second spot with a 95.71% resolution, Amethi third with 94.29%, Hamirpur fourth with 94.29%, and Ambedkar Nagar fifth with 89.29%.
"These districts not only resolved complaints within the stipulated time but also ensured high standards in solution quality. The sixth to tenth ranks were secured by Hathras, Azamgarh, Chandauli, Mainpuri and Siddharthnagar, respectively," the official added.

Before 2017, police recruitment in Uttar Pradesh was marred by nepotism and corruption—jobs were nearly impossible to secure without money or recommendations, the chief minister said, adding that era is over. 'We followed merit and transparency, respecting constitutional reservations,' he said, adding that no discrimination occurred based on caste, religion, class or region. 'The new Uttar Pradesh awards every youth justice through merit,' he said. 'The more you sweat during uniform training, the less blood will be shed in life,' Adityanath declared at the grand police recruitment ceremony held at the Defence Expo Ground. He emphasised that the exemplary performance of the police force during Maha Kumbh earned widespread praise. 'If we can perform there, we can perform anywhere,' he added, highlighting how the police today stood for both law enforcement and social trust. He applauded this recruitment drive as a pioneering step toward realizing Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union home minister Amit Shah's 'Smart Policing' vision, marking it as a historic advancement. While the political nuances of Amit Shah's visit cannot be overlooked as panchayat polls are due in the state early next year, the event is also significant as it shows the government's commitment to creating job opportunities for youngsters. 'The double-engine government has set a benchmark for clean and transparent recruitment processes,' he said, noting that even youths from the poorest families now serve as police personnel. Smart policing He expressed gratitude to Shah for helping with paramilitary and military training resources when recruitment began in 2017. As a result, the state now has the capacity to train over 60,000 police officers locally. He also emphasised forensic upgrades: eight new forensic laboratories are already operational, with six more under construction. Each of the 75 districts now has two mobile forensic vans. 1 2 Lucknow: Union home minister Amit Shah Sunday said here on Sunday that under the leadership of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath , Uttar Pradesh has shed its legacy of lawlessness and UP has seen a remarkable turnaround. Speaking at an event at the Defence Expo Ground in Lucknow to hand over appointment letters to 60,244 police constables selected in the country's largest-ever police recruitment drive, Shah said: "Goons no longer dictate terms in the state. The rule of law has been established. It is now our mission that within the next five years, we will create a system where an FIR is followed by a verdict from the Supreme Court within three years. " Shah termed the event a "historic ceremony" for Uttar Pradesh Police. Shah praised UP's transparent police recruitment process, and emphasized that no bribes, recommendations, or caste-based bias were involved unlike the previous govts in the state. "Each of you was selected purely on merit from over 48 lakh applications," he told the recruits. Over 12,000 women have joined the force, with Shah commending their confidence and readiness. He also personally handed over appointment letters to 15 constables. He lauded the state's decision to reserve 20% of posts for women, noting that over 12,000 of the recruits were women. "When I met some of the young women today, their confidence and determination were written all over their faces," he said. "Uttar Pradesh now has the largest police force in the country, equipped with command centres, AI-based tools, PCR vans, and on-wheel forensic labs. He urged the new officers to uphold the modern policing ethos of security, service, and sensitivity," he said. Shah credited CM Yogi Adityanath for restoring law and order in UP. "Before 2017, the state's law and order was in decline but since Yogi ji took charge, UP Police has touched new heights," he said. He pointed out that police modernisation in UP was stagnant from 2014 to 2017 but transformed post-2017 with Modi-Yogi governance synergy. Highlighting three new criminal laws, Shah said these reforms would ensure that citizens receive justice from FIR to the Supreme Court within three years. "You are not just joining a force — you're becoming the face of justice, security, and empathy in 'Amrit Kaal'. Be strict with criminals, but a protector to the poor, backward, and tribal communities," he said. A total of 60,244 constables, including 12,048 women, were recruited by the UP Police recruitment and promotion board (UPPRPB), which received more than 48 lakh applications. The recruitment process was completed under the then director of UPPRPB Rajeev Krishna, who is currently the director general of police. With the Sunday's inductions, the total strength of the force now reached nearly four lakh personnel, which includes around 36,000 women personnel. This strength covers all non-gazetted ranks across various wings of the police, excluding home guards, and marks a significant push toward modernising the police force, a senior police officer added.
