After the car had fallen for about 100 metres the motor hit the ground throwing Adriana and Marcone from the vehicle – likely after it smacked into a struck a rock. The car continued rolling for another 300 metres before coming to a halt completely smashed up.
The pair were found completely naked, not far from the wreckage in Venda Nova do Imigrante, south-eastern Brazil.
Police officer Alberto Roque Peres who is leading the investigation surrounding the couple's death's has said there's no evidence of foul play so far.
The Daily Star reports that the officer told local media: 'There were no signs of violence at the scene or on the bodies, and the car's handbrake was engaged.'
Investigators suspect the couple's movements inside the parked vehicle caused it to shift and tumble over the cliff edge. The car was discovered on private property around 7am by a caretaker clearing the land.
The officer said: 'Residents reported hearing a loud noise between 1.30am and 2am., but because it was dark and the vegetation was thick, no one saw anything at the time.'
Marcone's body was found at the foot of the cliff while a team of firefighters had to navigate treacherous terrain to retrieve Adriana's remains.
The pair had been together for around six months.
Marcone, originally hailing from Belo Horizonte, had recently moved to Venda Nova do Imigrante and worked as a machine operator.
Adriana had dedicated 16 years of her life working in her mum's bakery. She leaves behind a son and a daughter from a previous relationship.

Manchester Arena bomb plotter charged with attempted murder of prison guards
Hasham Abedi, the brother of the Manchester Arena bomber, has been charged with five offences after four prison officers were injured at a maximum security prison The brother of the Manchester Arena suicide bomber has been charged with attempted murder after four prison guards were attacked at high security HMP Frankland. Counter terrorism police confirmed Hashem Abedi, aged 28, has been charged with five offences following the incident on April 12, 2025. They said the incident had been subject to a 'thorough investigation by Counter Terrorism Policing North East, with support from Durham Constabulary and HMP Frankland. ' Their statement said the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) has authorised charges against Abedi including three counts of Attempted Murder, one count of Assault occasioning Actual Bodily Harm and one count of Unauthorised Possession in Prison of a Knife or Offensive Weapon. He will appear at Westminster Magistrates Court on Thursday, September 18. It has been reported that prison officers had hot cooking oil thrown over them and three were stabbed using improvised blades at the County Durham jail. The attack happened in the jail's Separation Centre, which holds fewer than 10 inmates and is used to house prisoners regarded as the most dangerous and extremist. Abedi was jailed for life in 2020 for helping his brother carry out the 2017 bombing, which killed 22 people at the end of an Ariana Grande concert. He was sentenced to a minimum of 55 years in jail. With his brother, the suicide bomber Salman Abedi, Hashem Abedi planned and prepared the attack on the Ariana Grande concert in 2017. He was in Libya when the blast took place and was later extradited to the UK to face trial. It emerged after the incident how inmates inside separation units were given access to cooking facilities. This access has since been suspended. The officers were all taken to hospital after the incident which is believed to have involved boiling 'butter or margarine' and a 'makeshift weapon'. The incident led to growing calls for the introduction of stab-proof vests 'as a minimum' for prison officers. There were 10,496 assaults against prison staff in England and Wales in the 12 months to September - a 19% rise on the previous year. Russia restricts calls via WhatsApp and Telegram, the latest step to control the internet
Russian authorities announced Wednesday they were 'partially' restricting calls in messaging apps Telegram and WhatsApp, the latest step in an effort to tighten control over the internet. In a statement, government media and internet regulator Roskomnadzor justified the measure as necessary for fighting crime, saying that 'according to law enforcement agencies and numerous appeals from citizens, foreign messengers Telegram and WhatsApp have become the main voice services used to deceive and extort money, and to involve Russian citizens in sabotage and terrorist activities.' The regulator also alleged that 'repeated requests to take countermeasures have been ignored by the owners of the messengers.' There was no immediate comment from either platform. Russian authorities have long engaged in a deliberate and multipronged effort to rein in the internet. Over the years, they have adopted restrictive laws and banned websites and platforms that won't comply. Technology has been perfected to monitor and manipulate online traffic. While it's still possible to circumvent restrictions by using virtual private network services, those are routinely blocked, too. Authorities further restricted internet access this summer with widespread shutdowns of cellphone internet connections and by adopting a law punishing users for searching for content they deem illicit. They have also threatened to go after WhatsApp — one of the most popular platforms in the country — while rolling out a new 'national' messaging app that's widely expected to be heavily monitored. Reports that calls were being disrupted in WhatsApp and Telegram appeared in Russian media earlier this week, with users complaining about calls not going through or not being able to hear each other speak. According to Russian media monitoring service Mediascope, WhatsApp in July was the most popular platform in Russia, with over 96 million monthly users. Telegram, with more than 89 million users, came a close second. Both platforms had their run-ins with the Russian authorities in the past. The Kremlin tried to block Telegram between 2018-20 but failed. After Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine in 2022, the government blocked major social media like Facebook and Instagram, and outlawed their parent company, Meta, that also owns WhatsApp, as extremist. In July, lawmaker Anton Gorelkin said WhatsApp 'should prepare to leave the Russian market,' and a new 'national' messenger, MAX, developed by Russian social media company VK, would take its place. MAX, promoted as a one-stop shop for messaging, online government services, making payments and more, was rolled out for beta tests but has yet to attract a wide following. Over 2 million people registered by July, the Tass news agency reported. Its terms and conditions say it will share user data with authorities upon request, and a new law stipulates its preinstallation in all smartphones sold in Russia. State institutions, officials and businesses are actively encouraged to move communications and blogs to MAX.
