Shooting at Wegmans facility in upstate NY leaves man dead: Police searching for suspect
A man in his 20s was shot and killed Saturday at the Wegmans warehouse on Brooks Avenue in Gates, according to Gates police. Officers responded around 4:15 p.m. to the facility at 1500 Brooks Ave. for a report of a shooting. When they arrived, they found the victim with multiple gunshot wounds. Man fatally shot outside Amazon facility in upstate NY identified by police
Gates police have identified the Amazon employee shot to death outside an Amazon fulfillment center in Gates on July 24. Markis Ortiz-Harris, 24, of Rochester was inside his vehicle in the parking lot of the facility at 2600 Manitou Road around 5:45 p.m. when someone approached him and fired gunshots, said Gates Police Capt. Matthew Pascarella. Ortiz-Harris, an employee who worked at the center, was waiting for his shift to start at the time. "There is no indication at this time that the shooter was an employee of Amazon," Pascarella said. The shooter fled the scene before police arrived. The homicide appeared to be a targeted attack and an isolated incident, he said. Gates police continue to investigate the fatal shooting.
