Tributes to extreme travel vlogger after death at home
Emma Witters, who posted videos of her travels to Ukraine, Afghanistan and the West Bank, died at home on Friday.
Originally from the Scottish Borders, the mother of two moved to the US around two decades ago, according to her YouTube account.
She has over 140,000 subscribers on YouTube and nearly 50,000 followers on Instagram.
Police Scotland confirmed officers were called to attend a property on Renwick Terrace in Hawick at 10am on Friday.
The 57-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene and her next of kin were made aware.
Police say enquiries are ongoing, however there are not believed to be any suspicious circumstances.
A report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: 'At 10am on Friday, July 11, 2025, officers were called to attend a property on Renwick Terrace, Hawick.
'A 57-year-old woman was pronounced dead at the scene. Her next of kin are aware.
'Enquiries are ongoing, however there are not believed to be any suspicious circumstances. A report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.'
Following news of her death, some social media posts suggested Mrs Witters had been killed while in the West Bank.
Mrs Witters visited Israel and the Occupied Palestinian Territory of the West Bank for several months earlier this year. She has been uploading vlogs from her time there in the months following her return.

'He was blindsided.' His axing came after Beeb chief Tim Davie said no presenter was bigger than the show. BBC's MasterChef meltdown The Corporation said: 'John Torode has identified himself as having an upheld allegation of using racist language. 'This allegation — which involves an extremely offensive racist term being used in the workplace — was investigated and substantiated by the independent investigation led by law firm Lewis Silkin. No decision has been made as to whether the next MasterChef series will be aired. Person may have 'suffered injuries to hands' after cars torched on Scots road
Emergency services were called to Morrison Drive in Aberdeen after the alarm was raised at around 4.55pm on Tuesday. Police have launched a probe after a car was set alight in broad-daylight in Aberdeen. Emergency services were called to Morrison Drive in the city after the alarm was raised at around 4.55pm on Tuesday. Officers were responding to reports of two cars on fire on the residential street. Pictures taken from the scene showed one vehicle engulfed in flames. A line of fire could be seen on the road with a plume of black smoke billowing up into the sky. According to reports the vehicle was set on fire with an accelerant that spread to a second car and down the road following the blaze. Detectives quickly launched a probe at the scene and officers have since confirmed that they are treating the fire as wilful. It's believed the man responsible suffered injuries to his hands during the incident and police are appealing for witnesses. Detective Inspector Kate Coyle said: ' Enquiries are ongoing and we are appealing to anyone with any information, particularly anyone who saw a man running in the direction of the old railway line around that time, to contact us. They then used this data to compile a list of the best ten locations, and three Scottish cities ranked high in the list.
