Amajita hero Kekana praises teamwork for goal that won SA the U-20 Afcon
He said his focus is on trying to return to his best shape after a long layoff last year.
Kekana is on the books of Mamelodi Sundowns' DStv Diski Challenge team and has trained with the senior Brazilians on a few occasions. He engraved his name in South African football folklore by scoring the goal that saw Amajita beat Morocco 1-0 in the U-20 Afcon final in Cairo this month.
'God's timing is forever perfect, so I won't rush the process,' Kekana said. 'I am trusting the process without putting pressure on myself to say now I must play for the first team.
'I will continue to work hard and it's up to the coaches to decide whether to promote me. I am not in a rush. I've come from a long-term injury last year, so my focus is to accumulate as many minutes as I can to return to my best shape.'

In response to the disappointing 38-22 loss to Australia at Ellis Park at the weekend, Springboks coach Rassie Erasmus has made wholesale changes for the second Test in Cape Town on Saturday. On Tuesday, Erasmus announced a team with 10 changes to the starting line-up to be led by centre Jesse Kriel with prop Ox Nche named vice-captain for the first time since his Springbok debut against Wales in Washington DC in 2018. The only change to Erasmus' front row was the inclusion of prop Thomas du Toit, who will pack down with Nche and Marx and there is a new lock pairing of RG Snyman and Ruan Nortje. Van Staden will form the loose trio with Mostert and Jean-Luc du Preez. In the backline the experienced duo of Kriel and De Allende reunite in the midfield for the 38th time, while Williams and Handré Pollard will partner at halfback. Kolbe and Canan Moodie are in at wing and Le Roux, who became only the eighth player in South African rugby history to earn 100 Test caps against Georgia last month, completes the backline at fullback. 'We lost four players to injury last weekend, which had an impact on a few of our selections, but we also know where we went wrong against Australia last week,' he said. 'So we made a few changes we believe will offer us what we need for this game. Damian and Cheslin have also recovered from their injuries and with their experience and knowledge of the Wallabies it was a logical choice to recall them.' Erasmus said they want to correct the mistakes of the past weekend and explained the inclusion of Venter and Nortje. 'We are determined to get things right this week. Boan got a taste of what it's like to face Australia last week and Ruan did well against them last year, while it will be good for a few other guys to experience playing against one the top teams in the world, especially as we continue to build our squad depth. 'We are pleased with this squad and we are all aligned on what we have to do to lift our standards this week.' Erasmus added he expects another physical battle from the confident Wallabies. 'If he continues to work hard, maintain professionalism, and live a disciplined lifestyle, he has a bright future ahead. What I saw against Sundowns was a performance worthy of big European clubs, and we are thrilled to have him here at Pirates, also a big club in Africa, but he must keep working.' At just 19-years old, Mbokazi is already taking on responsibilities typically reserved for senior players. His early success, however, does not lessen the importance of the challenges ahead. The upcoming fixture against Stellies will be just as critical, testing both the young defender and the team's collective resilience under pressure, especially on the back of their two shocking opening losses.

Cupido opens up about early Sundowns struggles
'Before, it was tough personally, but my wife made it very easy and she told me that everything works through God,' said Cupido. Keanu Cupido has opened up about settling in at Mamelodi Sundowns after initially struggling for game time following his arrival from Cape Town City midway through last season. Sundowns' Cupido on the rise Cupido forced his way into the Brazilians' line-up at the recent FIFA Club World Cup, where he featured in all three group-stage matches against Ulsan HD, Borussia Dortmund and Fluminense. ALSO READ: 'We must play to win' – Cardoso on Sundowns' MTN8 ambitions This season, the 27-year-old has already played in all four matches across all competitions, a marked improvement from the previous campaign where he managed just two league appearances before the Club World Cup. 'Before, it was tough personally, but my wife made it very easy and she told me that everything works through God and if it's His time then everything will work out, and that kept me going,' Cupido said. 'She played a part in keeping me motivated and keeping my head up by continuing to work hard, so I feel like that's the most important thing, having a supportive structure. 'Going into the (Club World Cup) tournament helped me a lot and it showed people who I am basically. Now, I feel like I have more confidence going into this season than the previous one.' Cupido will again be expected to play a key role when Masandawana face Magesi FC in the Betway Premiership at Seshego Stadium on Wednesday night. 'I just played simple and it helped me a lot' He credited his teammates for helping him settle quickly and establish a strong partnership with Grant Kekana at the heart of Sundowns' defence. 'The players at Mamelodi Sundowns make it very easy for each and every one of us,' he added. 'If you go into a big game, the players will tell you to just do the basics for the first two minutes, keep it simple and your confidence will grow from then on. 'That's what I did, I tried to take it easy by not forcing and rushing. I just played simple and it helped me a lot to settle into the first game and from there onwards, it's been a dream.' Kick-off for the match is 7.30 pm with Magesi still searching for their first win of the new season after two successive draws against Polokwane City and Stellenbosch FC.
