THE brand new era at Rangers is well and truly up and running now.
But a prominent figure from the Light Blues' recent past has been spotted back at Ibrox for the first time since his exit.

Having seen-off Panathinaikos in last Tuesday's crunch opening Champions League qualifier, Rangers were back in friendly action on Saturday.
Russell Martin's side welcomed English Championship outfit Middlesbrough to Govan for their final friendly clash of the summer.
The Gers boss was able to give a number of squad players minutes but they failed to really stake a claim as they fell 2-0 down.
Goals from Danilo and Findlay Curtis levelled things up as the entertaining clash finished 2-2.
It's a new era for Boro too with Rob Edwards now in charge.
The former Luton boss, whose name was linked to the Rangers vacancy at one point in time, has replaced Michael Carrick as boss.
Alongside Edwards in the dugout at Ibrox on Saturday was a familiar face.
Harry Watling previously worked as first team coach at Rangers and is now an assistant at Boro.
Watling, 35, was a key part of Michael Beale's staff at the Light Blues during his rather ill-fated spell as boss.
He'd previously worked with him at QPR.
Russell Martin opens up after he got sent off by John Beaton in pre-season friendly vs 'Boro
When Beale was sacked as manager in October 2023, his entire coaching staff was also dismissed, including Watling.
That decision came after a horror start to the 2023/24 season.
After leaving Ibrox, Watling landed the managerial role at Ebbsfleet United in September in 2024 but departed after only three months after one win in 13.
He returned to football last month when he landed the key role alongside Edwards at Boro.
Saturday's friendly clash offered Watling the first chance to return to Ibrox since his dismissal.
And it's fair to say he enjoyed it.
On Instagram, Watling said: "It was amazing to go back to Ibrox for the first time again yesterday.
"A huge shout-out to the 8,000 @theboroofficial fans who made it electric.
"So nice to see some old faces too from staff to players.
"Thank you to everyone for making it such a warm welcome back.
"Excited to begin another huge season."
Middlesbrough face local rivals Hartlepool away from home in a friendly this Wednesday before taking on Spanish side Deportivo La Coruna at home on Saturday.
The real stuff starts for them the following weekend with a home clash against Swansea to open the Championship season.
For Rangers, the real stuff has of course already started.
The Gers head to Athens to take on Panathinaikos in the second leg of their Champions League second round qualifier on Wednesday.
Then on Saturday, the Scottish Premiership gets underway as the Gers head to Motherwell in the evening TV game.

Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers insists his team will be 'ready' for whatever Monday's Champions League play-off draw throws at them despite needing an 87th-minute goal to break down St Mirren on the opening weekend of the Premiership season. The defending champions struggled to find a way past an obdurate St Mirren team and their inspired goalkeeper Shamal George until Luke McCowan found the net with a deflected strike to seal at 1-0 win. Advertisement Hide Ad Advertisement Hide Ad While Celtic were strong in defence and dominated possession, they did not show enough cutting edge in the final third, with wingers Daizen Maeda and Yang Hjun-jun struggling to make an impact, while striker Adam Idah missed a glorious chance when he struck the post from well inside the penalty box. Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers gives the thumbs-up after the 1-0 win over St Mirren. | SNS Group Celtic's lack of summer transfer business has been put under the microscope in the build-up to this season, with many believing that Kyogo Furuhashi and Nicolas Kuhn - two key components of the team during the last campaign - have not been adequately replaced. Rodgers and the wider Celtic hierarchy have until September 1 to sign new players but with a two-legged play-off standing in Celtic's way of a £40 million Champions League bounty, concerns remain within the club's fanbase of how equipped their team will be for such a key tie. Celtic are seeded in the Monday lunchtime draw and could play Sturm Graz, Basel, Dynamo Kyiv, the winner of Slovan Bratislava v Kairat Almaty or the winner of Qarabag v Shkendija. The manager, however, is adamant his team will be equipped for the challenge. 'We'll be ready for the games,' Rodgers said. 'Whenever they come, we'll be ready. The players are working very hard. They are always tense games. But we're in a good place and we'll take that game on when it comes. Advertisement Hide Ad Advertisement Hide Ad Celtic 'will accept whatever challenge comes' 'I'm feeling really good. We've had a great, really, really good pre-season. The players are shaping up very well and are working very hard. There's real spirit and solidarity here in the team. So we look forward to that. 'We know whoever we get, it's going to be tough, but it will also be tough for them. And we will accept whatever challenge comes.' Rodgers is set to have another defender to call upon, with Manchester City's Jahmai Simpson-Pusey in attendance at Celtic Park to watch the St Mirren game. 'We're still waiting for clearance on that one,' updated Rodgers. 'But he's up here. And I think obviously once it's definite, then it'll be announced. But yes, he's up here ready for the move.' Luke McCowan fires home the winner for Celtic. | SNS Group Rodgers refused to state what his priorities are for the rest of the window. it's just [about] improving,' he said. 'There's areas that we want to improve in the forward line. That's something that we hope we can do over these remaining weeks.' Advertisement Hide Ad Advertisement Hide Ad On the game itself, which required a deflected effort from substitute McCowan to break the deadlock, Rodgers commented: 'To win in the first game of the season is always good and it rounds off a lot of the good work that we've done over pre-season. I'm absolutely pleased with the performance. 'Everyone knows St Mirren and Stephen's coaching qualities, they're such a hard team to break down. You have to be aware of the threat on the counter-attack, the physicality at set-pieces. All of that we dealt so well with and the keeper's made some brilliant saves, which then keeps the game in the balance. 'At times we moved the ball really well. At other times we could have attacked a wee bit more when we got into certain positions and been a bit more aggressive in the one-v-one moments. But overall, to play against that team, against that system, that's how you've got to work it and then you need better quality to finish it.'

Tony Bloom tells Celtic and Rangers their domination is over as Hearts money man reveals what disruption looks like

The Brighton owner and Jambos shareholder insists he's not messing about and warned the big two he's hear to bring them down Tony Bloom has told Celtic and Rangers that their days of dominating Scottish football are OVER. ‌ The Hearts money man vows he's here to upset the Scottish football applecart after ploughing £10million into the Tynecastle club. ‌ The Jambos were already using Jamestown Analytics to turbo charge their summer recruitment - the same data analytics company Bloom uses at Brighton and Union Saint-Gilloise - before he bought a 29 per cent stake in the capital club. ‌ And the gambling mastermind sent a bullish warning to the big two now that he's on the scene in Edinburgh, and it's that they should be ready for another runner to gate crash the two-horse race for the title. "It's really important for Scottish football for it not to be a one or two club show," Bloom told fans at a Q&A event for Foundation of Hearts pledgers. "And it's not going to be from now on., I assure everyone of that. "I welcome the investment from other clubs outside of the Old Firm. I think that's really good for Scottish football. "It's not good at all that historically, Scottish clubs haven't been doing well in Europe, so it lowers the Scottish coefficient. That means even if you win the league like Celtic, they've got to win two knock-out games to actually get into the group games of the Champions League. "I'm very confident that coefficient over the next few years will change, which would be really good for Scottish football. I really hope it will be really good news for Hearts. "I'm really excited about the challenge and the days of it being a two runner race have gone." ‌ Bloom is dead set on disrupting Scottish football and spelled out exactly what that means. He added: "It means that the fans and the media are not talking about it being a two-runner race. As I said, that will not be the case from now on. ‌ "Every game that Heart of Midlothian plays in, we will play to win. Every tournament that Hearts are in, we think we can win it and we're aiming to win it. "I accept the fact that when we get in the Champions League, that may be a little bit difficult! "But we have to have belief. We have to have belief in who we are, what we are, our head coach and our players and everyone at the football club. ‌ "I certainly do, and I think that the squad of players that Graeme (Jones, sporting director) has helped put together under Derek McInnes, will continue to get stronger year on year, on year. "It sounds like a success to me if Rangers and Celtic are knocking on Graeme's door wanting to buy our players. "But they might not be able to buy our player as they may have bigger clubs to go to. ‌ "I don't like to make predictions on one game or one season as there are so many variables. "But what I would say is that Hearts have got an exceptionally good squad this season and I think there's every chance that we will have success this season. "Not being in Europe this season gives Hearts an excellent chance in the league and perhaps in the cups as well. "Hearts fans have every right to have big expectations and historically I don't think those expectations have been big enough. "I know it's difficult and that the Old Firm have a huge advantage in terms of turnover, commercial deals and fan base, but that's all changing because we are going to have a squad to compete with the very best teams in Scotland."

Brendan Rodgers declares Celtic Champions League ready as boss delivers Kieran Tierney injury update

The Hoops grabbed a Flag Day win over St Mirren after a late strike from sub Luke McCowan at Parkhead Brendan Rodgers has vowed Celtic will be ready for the Champions League – despite an opening day scare against St Mirren. ‌ The Hoops needed a late Luke McCowan strike to avoid the party going flat on Flag Day at Parkhead. ‌ Celts struggled to find a cutting edge against stubborn Saints but eventually found a way through to ensure a winning start. ‌ Rodgers insisted he was delighted with the display but admitted he's still looking to strengthen his squad in the coming days and weeks. Defender Jahmai Simpson-Pusey was at Celtic Park on Sunday and his loan move from Man City will be confirmed on Monday. Rodgers is desperate for more firepower but he is adamant his men will be firing for the Champions League play-off in a fortnight. Celts will learn who they will face in the group stage showdown in Monday's draw in Nyon. And Rodgers said: 'We'll be ready for the games. Whenever they come, we'll be ready. The players are working very hard. They are always tense games. But we're in a good place and we'll take that game on when it comes. 'I'm feeling really good. We've had a great, really, really good pre-season. The players are shaping up very well and are working very hard. ‌ 'There's real spirit and solidarity here in the team. So we look forward to that. "We know whoever we get, it's going to be tough, but it will also be tough for them. And we will accept whatever challenge comes.' Rodgers is thrilled to bolster his backline with the arrival of Simpson-Pusey to compete alongside centre backs Cameron Carter-Vickers, Auston Trusty and Liam Scales. ‌ He said: 'It's just about improving. There's areas that we want to improve in the forward line. That's something that we hope we can do over these remaining weeks. 'We're still waiting for clearance on that one (Simpson-Pusey). But he's up here. And I think obviously once it's definite, then it'll be announced. But yes, he's up here ready for the move. ‌ 'That area of the team is always so important. Any team, your centre-halves need to be dominant and we've got really good options there now. 'Your centre-halves need to be strong at Celtic. Sometimes you're not doing a great deal. You're stood on the halfway line and you're attacking a lot of the time. But you also need to be able to defend space. 'We knew that Kieran (Tierney) and maybe even Ali (Johnston) because he's only back for a few weeks, we knew Kieran was going to have to come out at some point. ‌ 'So, Austin on the bench, move Scalesy to left- back. I thought he was fantastic in the game. He was dominant and won headers against two big strikers.' Tierney caused concern when he limped off with 35 minutes to go but Rodgers revealed there was no serious injury. The full back impressed on his first competitive start since his return to Celts and the manager said: ' It's brilliant for him. "I'm so happy for him. He's got a great reception and you see the qualities that he has. "He had a wee bit of cramp at the end. He hasn't played a lot of football and that's part of managing him through this period. now that he's back. "Build him and his fitness. But yes, just his qualities, his crossing ability and his one-v-one ability. I'm really pleased for him."
