Report: Most 2026 BMW Models Will Receive a Price Hike on July 1

BMW will raise prices on many of its 2026 models starting on July 1, according to a report from CarsDirect. The increase will amount to about 2 percent of the existing MSRP, with the price hike ranging from $1100 to $2500. Several models will escape the price bump, including the 2026 iX SUV and 2026 M2 coupe. The vast majority of BMW models will likely get more expensive starting next month. As reported by CarsDirect, a bulletin was sent to BMW dealerships last week stating that the MSRP of most 2026 BMW models will go up by 1.9 percent beginning on July 1, 2025. The price increases will reportedly not affect 2025 BMW inventory. BMW has so far released pricing for many, but not all, of its 2026 model year lineup, with pricing for models such as the 7-series, X1, and 2-series not yet available. The nearly 2 percent price increase also won't affect every model in BMW's lineup. The main exceptions are its 2026-model-year EVs, the i5 and the iX. (Pricing for the 2026 i4 and i7 has not been published.) The Alpina XB7, 2026 2-series Gran Coupe, and 2026 M2 are also reportedly unaffected. BMW On the top end, the price hikes amount to $2500 for models such as the X5 M, which rises from $127,200 to $129,700, according to CarsDirect. The lowest increases are for the 4-series Coupe and Z4 roadster, which each see a bump of $1100. These figures exclude the destination fee, which Car and Driver reports as part of the price, and it's unclear if the freight charge will change for any BMW models when the calendar turns to July. CarsDirect says the bulletin doesn't blame the import tariffs implemented by the U.S. government for the price hikes, instead stating that the rises are "in line with past pricing communications, and account for inflation and enhancements to standard equipment where applicable." Slight increases in the MSRP are common for new model years, but we wouldn't be surprised if the tariffs are also playing a factor. A previous report from Automotive News stated that BMW wouldn't raise prices on imported models until the end of June. Trump-Musk feud: Are electric vehicles and Tesla at the heart of the breakup?

The President of the United States of America and one of the world's most influential billionaires are at odds after months of collaboration. The confrontation escalated Thursday with Elon Musk saying Trump would have lost the election without him in a post on X. President Donald Trump in turn referred to his former senior advisor as "the man who lost his mind" in a Friday morning ABC News phone interview. Republican Trump allies are now also speaking out against Musk. Musk's breakup with the administration has been public and is well-documented, with Trump and the Tesla CEO trading calculated jabs like pro boxers. The underlying reason behind the sudden intense feud is a serious cause of concern for some American car buyers. "Clean Coal" has been a popular buzzword for not one but two presidential campaigns for Donald Trump. So, Elon Musk's initial choice to stand beside a global warming skeptic as the CEO of a clean energy and automotive company was puzzling to say the least. At first, Musk's involvement with the administration was seen by many as mutually beneficial, since the CEO could potentially reap the benefits of government contracts for Tesla and SpaceX. The general public quickly soured to the idea of the eccentric CEO playing a key role in the administration. By April 8, Tesla stock had nosedived 41.50% from its January 2 share price. Tesla dealers have been attacked and vandalized while other Americans have staged peaceful protests against Musk's involvement in government and role at the Department of Government Efficiency. So, why would a guy who once wore a "Trump Was Right About Everything" hat suddenly publicly oppose his new bill? The short answer is, the two don't see eye to eye on the automotive industry's most controversial powertrain option. The One, Big, Beautiful Bill could decimate Tesla. President Donald Trump's stance and actions against EV adoption in America includes: Supporting the One, Big, Beautiful Bill, which suggests phasing out a federal EV tax credit that would benefit thousands of Tesla buyers Claiming former President Joe Biden's EV mandate "would kill 40% of the auto industry's jobs", according to Ordering the shut down of many federal electric vehicle chargers and pausing massive federal EV fleet purchases, according to Elon Musk (and Tesla's) stance and actions for EV adoption in America: Elon Musk bio says "Tesla's mission has been to accelerate the world's transition to sustainable energy" Musk claimed "the world does need electric cars" during a 60 Minutes interview and factory tour, asserting that Tesla has a crucial role in the future of EVs Tesla has collaborated with Ford, GM, Stellantis, Rivian, Volkswagen, Honda, Acura, Hyundai, Kia, Toyota and more to provide Tesla Supercharger access to EVs, making them easier to charge for American drivers Tesla stock recently plummeted in response to the feud between Trump and Musk. The President has also threatened Musk's government contracts amidst the dispute. The bill appears to be the focal point of the rift, but the two clearly have different ideas on what America's future should be. President Donald Trump and Elon Musk may have been able to join forces over their mutual stances on certain conservative points and a hatred of bureaucracy, but their White House tag team was short-lived. The One, Big, Beautiful Bill directly undermines some of the actions Musk and the Department of Government Efficiency have taken since the two united. Trump is 78 years old and expresses a desire to bring America back to a golden age of manufacturing before globalism outsourced American jobs and created a reliance on foreign trade. He also speaks about returning the country to an age where mining and drilling for fossil fuel production were prioritized over environmental concerns. Musk, on the other hand, is a 53-year-old futurist who strives to make humans a multi-planetary species and has made a fortune from innovation and technological disruption. At a glance, the issue seems to be about the One, Big, Beautiful Bill attacking Tesla's bottom line but the two polarizing figures are fundamentally different in terms of future aspirations. Based on Trump's falling out with several former members of the first Trump administration and Musk's known adversarial nature in the private sector, this could be the end for, arguably, the most fascinating duo of 2025. Musk's Dad Begs Him to End His ‘Alpha' Fight With Trump

Elon Musk's old man is offering his son some words of wisdom as he goes through a pretty heated breakup with President Donald Trump. Errol Musk, the tech billionaire's father, on Friday said he messaged his son urging him to fix the mess but reassured reporters that it won't be long before the duo will kiss and make up. 'I did send him a message… telling him, make sure this fizzles out,' he told Al Arabiya English Friday, adding the pair would 'of course' reconcile and it was nothing more than 'elephant bulls or alphas having a go at each other.' Still, he was disappointed with his son's reactive responses to the president, including when Musk dropped a bombshell claiming that Trump was included in the FBI's files on alleged sex trafficker Jeffrey Epstein. 'I have no idea what he was thinking… I can only imagine that's just a silly mistake,' he said, calling Musk's post a result of stress. Despite his fatherly disappointment, he's not that worried about the heated feud between the special government employee and his ex-best friend. The exchange, he said, was little more than a clash of 'alphas.' The two went at each other's throats on Thursday over Trump's 'Big Beautiful Bill‚' ending a four-month long bromance that rocked the White House and stirred up some unexpected scandals. From Musk's frequent drug use to his unprecedented power over the federal government, the world's richest man left the Trump administration after a 130-tenure that not even he could have predicted. According to Musk's father, the pair's heated, threatening, and at-times vicious exchange was just 'a bit silly' and driven by an exhausting past few months in power. He added that it will all 'fizzle out in a few days' despite the fact that Musk recently called for Trump's impeachment. 'When people have been through a great deal of stress… eventually people reach a point where they lash out,' Musk said. 'Even at the highest levels, people struggle to find common ground.' Musk's dad then launched into an existential analysis of the online spat, quoting the biblical line: 'let the innocent person cast the first stone.' The so-called 'silly' feud comes as Congress prepares to vote for a 'Big Beautiful Bill‚" that could upend the lives of rural Americans and cut off their access to lifesaving health insurance. Musk and his father have long been estranged, and the Tesla billionaire called him a 'terrible human being' in 2017. In Walter Isaacson's book about the pair, Elon Musk, he wrote that Musk found out over email on Father's Day 2022 that his dad had a child with his former stepdaughter Jana Bezuidenhout. Musk's father was married to Bezuidenhout's mother for 18 years and had two children before their divorce. 'The only thing we are on Earth for is to reproduce,' said Musk's dad. 'If I could have another child I would. I can't see any reason not to.' The apple doesn't fall far from the tree. Musk has at least 14 children, including his son X ÆA-12, who was a regular at the White House before Musk and Trump's relationship blew up.
