After behind-the-scenes clashes, public criticism, and tanking at the box office, the live-action Snow White is finally limping onto Disney Plus.
It was meant to be the jewel in Disney's remake crown and modernise the beloved classic – but Snow White has been a poisoned apple from the start.
While critics largely praised leading lady Rachel Zegler as 'enchanting', the scandal that surrounded the release overtook any positives about the film itself.
Problems seemed to be coming from all angles, with Disney reportedly rolling back the scale of their London premiere in response to the backlash.
When it hit cinemas in March, the box office clawed back $205.5million – impressive until you consider the budget was around $270million.
If you loved the film the first time around or are morbidly curious about it after all the drama, Snow White will reach its final resting place on Disney Plus on June 11, 2025.
With just 40% on Rotten Tomatoes, the remake may have even stopped the controversial live-action remake push from Disney (not in time to pull Lilo and Stitch, though).
After the mixed response, Tangled has 'been put on pause', according to insiders speaking to The Hollywood Reporter.
Moana, set for release on July 10, 2026, is still thought to be in the works as one of Disney's biggest animated hits of recent years.
Disney was facing pushback from fans as its slate appeared to be overwhelmingly focused on these remakes, with some even boycotting.
However, Snow White was hit was even more controversy than the others – until maybe the bizarre choices made for the recently released Lilo and Stitch.
First came the complaints that Rachel, 24, was a 'woke' casting choice given her Colombian heritage, echoing similar (distasteful) sentiments voiced over Halle Bailey's Ariel.
The West Side Story star may have proved those naysayers wrong but this was just the start of the problems.
Game Of Thrones star Peter Dinklage then branded the studio 'backwards' for still making a 'story about seven dwarfs living in a cave together'.
Peter, 55, has a common form of dwarfism known as achondroplasia and asked Disney to 'take a step back and look at what you're doing'.
As well as dropping half the film's original title, director Marc Webb opted to portray the characters using CGI – which was pulled apart when the Seven Dwarfs were first unveiled in the movie's teaser trailer – after erroneous reports that Disney would be using diverse 'magical creatures' instead.
Pro-wrestler Hornswoggle, 39, as well as other actors, said ultimately the decision was detrimental to their careers as the roles would have traditionally gone to seven actors with the condition.
Then came the girl boss-ification of Snow White herself – a common move in all the live-action remakes but garnered extra heat for Rachel.
Snow White was 'not going to be dreaming about true love' anymore and rather 'becoming the leader she knows she can be and the leader that her late father told her that she could be if she was fearless, fair, brave, and true'.
Fans slammed Disney (and its leading lady) for the outdated feminism, which many felt turned its back on the core of who Snow White is in the original 1937 film. More Trending
Finally, there was the boycott over the casting of Gal Gadot, an Israeli actress who has publicly advocated for Israel over the years.
She has stated that 'killing innocent Palestinians is horrific', but mostly her public posts are about Israeli hostages, while Rachel was criticised for her support of Palestine.
After an incredibly messy road to get here, Snow White's release was quickly forgotten in the wake of other remake missteps.
Snow White will be available to watch on Disney Plus from June 11.

The police corner Vanessa in huge Emmerdale murder story

To view this video please enable JavaScript, and consider upgrading to a web browser that supports HTML5 video Vanessa Woodfield (Michelle Hardwick) finds herself implicated in Nate Robinson's (Jurell Carter) murder when Tracy Shankley (Amy Walsh) drops her in it in Emmerdale. Things are getting nasty in the Dales after the discovery of Nate's body and accusations are levelled at two likely suspects. John Sugden (Oliver Farnworth) – the actual perpetrator – is questioned by police, but not over his own possible guilt, Cain is the one in the frame. After arguing with Nate before he died, he is prime suspect. John does some quick thinking and talking to get Cain Dingle's (Jeff Hordley) name off the suspect list, and after Cain's own grilling by the police, he airs his suspicions that Tracy's dodgy behaviour makes her look guilty. So those are the two suspects, Cain and Tracy. John then does the unthinkable to secure Cain's freedom – he plants Nate's phone in the playhouse at Tracy's. When the police show up with a warrant, Tracy thinks she's done for when they find the mobile tucked away. Worse still, the police discover that the removal man who came to collect Nate's things doesn't exist. Things are looking bad for the single mum. More Trending The police reveal to her that they believe Nate died the day he was meant to leave, and thinking on her toes, Tracy blurts out an alibi – she was with Vanessa all day. For just £1, you'll be able to grab a ticket to the latest blockbusters movies at Cineworld. One user posted: "Cineworld £4 club card tickets work with Meerkat Movies! "Me and my daughter get to watch the new Stitch film for just £1 tomorrow." This is because of a new Tesco Clubcard deal giving shoppers the chance to bag cheap cinema tickets. For just £4 — or £2 in Tesco Clubcard vouchers — movie fans can treat themselves thanks to a new partnership between Tesco and Cineworld. The user then used £2 worth of Clubcard points as they double up for reward partners. And what's more, this savvy shopper used the Clubcard deal alongside the Meerkat Movies 2-for-1 deal from Compare the Market meaning they only had to pay £1. Another user left a comment under the find, saying: "I also watched stitch with my daughter for £1! "I converted £3.50 in Clubcard points which gave me £7 to spend on Cineworld. "Then purchased two of the £4 Clubcard tickets and paid the extra £1!" The Clubcard deal allows movie fans to buy up to four discounted tickets, making it cheap to enjoy the movies with family and friends. But film fans should be quick as the Clubcard deal ends on Sunday June 8. The discounts don't stop there either — Cineworld is also offering Clubcard holders a special £6 deal for a medium drink and popcorn, with the option to upgrade to a large for just £1 more. Tesco shoppers keen to grab the bargain cinema tickets must exchange a minimum of 50p in Clubcard vouchers through the app or website. Once completed members should head to the Cineworld site and buy tickets "not covered by their Clubcard Vouchers". To snap up the special drink and popcorn deal, movie-goers will need to show their Clubcard at the food counter. 3 Take a look below to see how you can get more from your Clubcard Credit: Alamy How to get more from your Clubcard The immensely popular Clubcard loyalty scheme is a simple way to slash the price of groceries. For every £1 spent customers earn a point. Each pound is worth a penny, so if you collect 150 points you earn a £1.50 voucher. It doesn't sound like much but it adds up over time. But the real value comes when you use your vouchers with Tesco's Reward Partners, where the value can often double, meaning your £1.50 could be worth £3 depending on where you use it. You can rack up extra points by shopping with Tesco's partnered brands too. TOP TESCO BUYS Vauxhall, Evri, and OVO Energy are just a few examples. Customers who purchase a new Vauxhall car can earn a whopping 50,000 Clubcard points, while shoppers spending with Evri can earn one point for every £1 spent. The full list of partners is available on Tesco's website, so it's worth having a look to see where you can get more bang for your buck. Once you convert your Clubcard vouchers into codes for use with a Reward Partner, those codes are valid for six months, so make sure to use them in time. Signing up for Clubcard is easy; you can register through the Tesco app, available on the Apple App Store or Google Play, or by heading to and ordering one directly. For regular Tesco shoppers, upgrading to Clubcard Plus might be worth considering. It costs £7.99 a month but gives you 10% off two in-store shops of your choice each month. If your shop is £40 or more, the discount pays for itself — and you'll even save a bit more. You're not locked in either; the subscription can be paused or cancelled at any time if you're away or not planning to spend as much. Another simple way to build your points faster is by opting into Tesco's marketing emails. While your inbox might get busier, these emails often include exclusive offers and bonus point deals tailored to your shopping habits and they can be a quick win when it comes to boosting your balance. As mentioned above, it's important to keep an eye on voucher expiry dates as the vouchers expire two years after being issued. But there's a handy trick that not everyone knows, if a voucher is about to expire, just spend a small amount of it and the remaining balance will be reissued with a fresh two-year expiry. So if you've got a £10 voucher and use just 50p, the other £9.50 gets renewed. Finally, if you fancy earning a few extra points from the comfort of your home, you can sign up for Shopper Thoughts, a survey site that rewards you with Clubcard points for sharing your opinions. It's a quick and easy way to bag 150 points just by filling in a few questions. With a few simple tricks and a bit of attention, Tesco Clubcard can be a handy tool to save cash or unlock bigger rewards, just don't forget to use your vouchers before they expire.

Marvel fans beg for Ryan Gosling to lead Black Panther 3 after white version of superhero revealed

Marvel fans wasted no time putting Ryan Gosling at the top of their dream cast list for Black Panther 3 after the latest comic storyline introduced a white version of the iconic superhero. The premiere issue of Marvel Knights: The World to Come, which dropped Wednesday, introduces a new character named Ketema—the son of T'Challa, prince of Wakanda and the original Black Panther. In a dramatic twist, Ketema grows to resent his father and eventually challenges him for the throne. After defeating T'Challa in battle, Ketema removes his mask—revealing blond hair, blue eyes, and distinctly Caucasian features. The role of T'Challa was famously portrayed by the late Chadwick Boseman in the first two Black Panther films. Now, with Black Panther 3 reportedly in development and the character's legacy evolving in the comics, fans have taken to social media to suggest Gosling—best known as Barbie's Ken—as a potential successor. To complete the meme, Ryan Gosling as Ketema for the next Black Panther film in MCU. He needs to be cast to complete the circle of memes. PLEASE Marvel and Disney I want this. — Anya Faye (@Rikoveno) June 4, 2025 'Please say Ryan Gosling is going to be the Black Panther!' one fan posted alongside a photo of Ryan as Ken, while another begged, 'PLEASE Marvel and Disney I want this.' And one concluded, 'The "maybe Ryan Gosling should be Black Panther" fans have won.' One chimed in, 'I guess that Ryan Gosling is the new Black Panther and people are pissed that it's being whitewashed and are threatening to boycott Avengers: Doomsday.' While there has been no official word on Gosling joining the Black Panther cast, fans have speculated for years about the Canadian heartthrob finally entering the MCU. When asked about rumors of playing a Marvel superhero in a 2022 MTV News interview, Gosling joked, 'I was waiting for the Captain Canada call.' The actor later told MTV News' Josh Horowitz that he is interested in playing Ghost Rider. It's a character he's long been familiar with, since his longtime partner, Eva Mendes, starred in Ghost Rider back in 2007. Meanwhile, when the Black Panther news dropped Wednesday, social media instantly went into meltdown mode. 'Please say Ryan Gosling is going to be the Black Panther!' one fan posted alongside a photo of Ryan as Ken, while another begged, 'PLEASE Marvel and Disney I want this' 'They looked at this and thought it was a good idea?' one user fumed. Another quipped, 'Life is a horror movie in 2025.' Boseman's Black Panther was celebrated for honoring African culture and representation. Now, some fans are questioning whether the latest storyline undermines that legacy. 'Black Panther having a white son would be ridiculous,' one person posted, while another raged, 'Black Panther is WHITE! Marvel actually did the unthinkable and it's INSANE!' Some even speculated about which actor might play the character in a future film. 'I guess he looks a little like Ryan Gosling,' one fan wrote. What if Ryan Gosling is coming into Marvel to play the Black Panther after all? In a new comic, the all new Black Panther is white dude. — meme bastard 🍕 (@mask_bastard) June 4, 2025 Another added, 'What if Ryan Gosling is coming into Marvel to play the Black Panther after all?' Meanwhile, others online were quick to clarify that the writer behind the new comic is Black. 'Lol stop letting these non-Black people touch Black Panther. They do silly stuff like this,'' one critic commented—prompting another to respond: 'The writer is Black.' Indeed, Christopher Priest—who co-created Marvel Knights: The World To Come alongside Joe Quesada, Richard Isanove, and Richard Starkings—is widely recognized as the first Black writer-editor in mainstream comics. He previously served as editor of Spider-Man in the mid-1980s and later penned major titles at DC, including Green Lantern. Still, one disgruntled fan claimed: 'If there would be any writer who would try to give the Black Panther mantle to a white person, of course it would be Christopher Priest—the man who made it his job to shove white characters into Wakanda's mythos lol.' The Marvel Knights: The World To Come issue kicks off with T'Challa's death, but the real twist comes as the story rewinds to reveal how he got there, according to After the death of his wife Storm, T'Challa attempts to preserve his legacy by fathering a child with Lynne, one of his earliest love interests in the comics. That child, a son named Ketema—whose name means 'fortified encampment'—grows up to challenge his father for the throne of Wakanda. Wearing the full Black Panther suit, Ketema defeats T'Challa in combat but spares his life. Then comes the jaw-dropping reveal: he removes his mask to show that he is, in fact, white. The big question lingering for fans is how T'Challa could possibly have a white son. Some readers are now speculating that Monica Lynne might not be the boy's mother after all, per the outlet. Instead, attention has turned to Nicole Adams—a character who seems to appear on the cover of Issue #3—as a more likely candidate. Although Nicole was believed to have died back in 2000, long-time comic fans know that death is rarely permanent in the Marvel universe. Regardless of how the lineage shakes out, one thing has stunned readers across the board: the Black Panther mantle now appears to belong to someone who presents as white.
