Daily Mirror6 hours ago
We've rounded up some of the best parka jackets from the high street, including Boden and New Look
With the long-awaited Oasis reunion tour finally underway, the sounds of Stop Crying Your Heart Out, Supersonic and Don't Look Back in Anger aren't the only thing making a comeback. So too is the unmistakable swagger of mid-90s Manchester style, and at the heart of it all is the iconic parka jacket.
Once a working-class wardrobe staple, then a badge of honour among Brits, the parka is reclaiming its place in our wardrobes just in time for a summer of gigs, festivals, and pub garden escapades.
Usually oversized, hooded, and often boasting a hint of faux-fur, it's the kind of jacket that'll keep wearers dry during the rain. Whatever style is preferred, we've rounded up the best Gallagher-worthy parkas to shop now.
Boden Wells Waterproof Hooded Coat - £93.60
Whether it's raining, windy or shining, the Wells coat takes it all in its stride, and even better, it's on sale.
Available in three different colours, the coat is crafted from durable, fully waterproof fabric and is built to handle whatever the British weather throws your way. Boasting adjustable cuffs, sealed seams, and a generously sized hood means you'll stay dry and comfortable, no matter how gloomy it gets outdoors.
There are over 90 five-star comments online from satisfied shoppers. One person said: "A gorgeous coat. I love it so, so much!
"I've been wearing it on most days since I got it. I haven't tried it out in the rain yet, but I think it should be fine. The colours are as vibrant as you see online. So if you like the look of it, go for it!"
A second shopper, however, pointed out issues: "Sizing was on the large size even with a sweatshirt on. The orange trim was also a bit too bright however a nice jacket just not for me."
Yet, another buyer praised the coat, sharing: "Beautiful, well-made coat as you'd expect from Boden. I haven't tested how waterproof it is yet, so I can't comment on that, but I love the colours. I think it's on the large side, but that's good for layering."

It's the flurry of messages between fans, whose passion for the sport plays out in group chats as much as it does in the stands. New research from Vodafone reveals that these 'message rallies' – rapid-fire bursts of conversation – are lighting up more than a third (35%) of Brits' group chats daily. Advertisement Hide Ad Advertisement Hide Ad With debates over favourite athletes and teams sparking some of the nation's longest streaks, second only to family catch ups and weekend plans. Vodafone, Official Connectivity Partner of The Championships, Wimbledon, announces the Rally Tally challenge – a pledge to donate up to 25,000 connections to those who need them most. Over half (52%) of sports fans say they use their group chats to stay on top of the action, with one in five (20%) Brits admitting they have a dedicated group chat just to rally back-and-forth about sport. The data also shows fans are spending just as much time chatting about matches with friends as they are watching them, with some message rallies hitting an impressive 74 back-and-forth during a single game. Top triggers include controversial umpire decisions (28%); team and player performances (28%); and the all-important points celebrations (25%). Advertisement Hide Ad Advertisement Hide Ad And 4 in 10 Brits say that bantering with mates over a match makes the experience more memorable, with nearly half (45%) feeling happier for it, and a third (33%) seeing it as a vital way to keep in touch with friends and family. But it's not just about staying connected during the matches. For 30% of fans, setting up the group chat is a key part of the pre-match ritual, a way to build anticipation before the first serve. For others, it provides a way to fuel the connection long after the final point, with some even keeping the banter – and the message rallies – going for up to four years. When not engaged in heated debate over umpire decisions or match points, Brits are just as busy chatting about dinner plans (27%), what's going on in the workplace (25%) and neighbourhood gossip (24%) – showing that world-class rallies aren't just happening on Centre Court but playing out in everyday conversations too. Advertisement Hide Ad Advertisement Hide Ad Message rallies look different across generations: Millennials juggle multiple group chats on the same topic (37%); teens lead the way with the longest message rallies (108 average); and Gen X keep it short, tending to avoid emojis and GIFs. Despite millions of Brits staying connected through daily back-and-forth chats, many are still missing out on these vital interactions. An estimated 10.6 million* people in the UK remain without access to the benefits of connectivity, highlighting the continued importance of closing the digital divide. Vodafone believes connectivity is essential and everyone should have access to the opportunities it brings, and as the Official Connectivity Partner of The Championships, Wimbledon, it's turning this year's on-court action into real-world impact. Through the launch of the Rally Tally challenge, the Nation's Network is pledging up to 25,000 donated connections, matched to the average rallies recorded by IBM across the show courts. ** Advertisement Hide Ad Advertisement Hide Ad The initiative is part of Vodafone's programme, which is on track to help four million people and businesses cross the digital divide by the end of 2025. Nicki Lyons, Chief Corporate Affairs and Sustainability Officer, VodafoneThree, said: 'In today's always-on world, rallying messages back-and-forth with friends has become second nature. Whether it's a flurry of texts during a nail-biting match, a stream of emojis in a group chat, or brainstorming with a colleague. 'But while millions of us enjoy everyday message rallies, not everyone can. That's why we're launching the Rally Tally challenge at this year's Championships, as part of our programme, pledging to donate connections to those who need it most.' With its partners, Vodafone has already helped over 3.5 million people and businesses cross the digital divide, donating mobile connectivity and technology to those who need it most. The company also provides free support to upskill businesses and communities, while offering targeted, affordable tariffs and services to make being connected easily accessible.

Aldi rolls out strict one-bottle limit on £14.95 item ranked best in the WORLD as shoppers strip shelves bare

ALDI has enforced a strict one-bottle limit on a £14.95 item ranked the best in the world. Shoppers are desperate to get their hands on the high-demand item, which is flying off the shelves. 2 Aldi has enforced a strict one-bottle limit Credit: aldi 2 Fans have been racing to buy the limited-edition product - but they have to be quick Credit: Getty The supermarket giant is honouring the mega Oasis reunion tour, which kicked off in Cardiff last Friday. It has rolled out Supernova Champagne, named after Noel and Liam Gallagher's iconic song, for £14.95 a pop. Fans have been racing to buy the limited-edition product - but they have to be quick. Supernova Champage is exclusively being sold at Aldi's Bury New Road store in Manchester from today. It comes ahead of the band's upcoming show on Friday July 11 at Heaton park. Made using Aldi's award-winning Veuve Monsigny Champagne Brut, the bottle has been decorated with an original Supernova design. It could make for a unique keepsake in memory of the brothers' legendary comeback - even if you're unable to attend the gig. But, they're only available while stock last, so fans will need to be speedy. To help everyone have a fair chance at securing the beverage, Aldi have imposed a one-bottle limit. Aldi's Veuve Monsigny previously won top industry honours, including at The Drinks Business Global Champagne Masters 2025[1]. Julie Ashfield, Chief Commercial Officer at Aldi UK, said: 'We're thrilled to launch Supernova Champagne, a special, limited-edition rebrand of our award-winning Veuve Monsigny. "We're offering shoppers a unique and memorable way to raise a glass to this iconic moment in music history.' Oasis fans have jumped at the opportunity to raise a glass with the latest fizz. Derrick Smith, an Oasis fan, said: 'I left at quarter past six and waited an hour before the store opened – the bottle looks amazing.' Another shopper said: 'I got here for half six. My wife's a big Oasis fan so I came to grab her a bottle – I've just called my mates to come down too.' Meanwhile, superfan Jack Blake penned: 'I drove from London for the Champagne after I saw the post. I thought, I must try and get a bottle!' The launch comes as Oasis fans hailed the band's "pure magic" performance after Liam and Noel appeared on stage together for the first time in 16 years. A sell-out crowd of 74,500 people watched on as the brothers blasted out iconic hits during the reunion tour's opening night at the Principality Stadium. During an emotional rendition of Live Forever towards the end of the set, the band led a tribute to Liverpool player Diogo Jota, who tragically died yesterday. Famous names including Eastenders star Danny Dyer, actress Vicky McClure and one direction star Louis Tomlinson were in attendance for the performance. Reacting on social media, one fan said: "I'd forgotten just how amazing live music can be. "Thank you Liam, Oasis. Pure magic and the best you've ever been." Another added: "I'm over the moon how great they were! "Liam looked and sounded peak!!!" MORE ALDI NEWS Aldi has also launched a trio of "divine" new lip balms for under £4 - rivalling viral high-end brand. The popular store has hopped on the latest summer trend with its latest Lacura beauty buy which offers a cheaper alternative to a cult product. The new "buttery smooth" lippies are inspired by the viral Summer Fridays Lip Butter Balms, only they don't come the hefty £23 price tag. Priced at just £3.49 each, they are said to have a "nourishing" formula, with three flavours available to choose from - Cake Pop, Dulce De Leche, and Vanilla. The balms have quickly become an instant hit, with one shopper saying: "Got all three today! Love an Aldi dupe."
