Real Madrid to choose between two youngsters to take over iconic shirt number
Mbappe gave justice to the iconic number by emerging as the top-scorer in La Liga and even winning the European Golden Boot award.
However, reports suggest Mbappe is all set to relinquish the number nine jersey to don another iconic number ten jersey next season.
This will leave a vacancy for the number nine jersey and as thing stand, two prominent candidates are coming up.
Real Madrid to choose between Garcia and Endrick
According to AS, Endrick and Gonzalo Garcia are the two prime candidates to don the number nine jersey at Real Madrid next season.

Endrick was the undisputed favourite to take up the iconic kit at the start of the summer. However, following the breakthrough of Gonzalo Garcia in the FIFA Club World Cup, the equation has completely changed.
The matter, though, has come to a standstill and Real Madrid are yet to make any final decision regarding this dilemma.
A lot could get clearer in the coming weeks as Real Madrid double down on their preparations for the new season, where both Garcia and Endrick will play a pivotal role under the leadership of new coach Xabi Alonso.
Gonzalo, in particular, will be one player worth keeping an eye on as the Spanish striker looks to make a big breakthrough and emerge as one of Mbappe's key partners in attack next season.

Lionel Messi has goal and assist in return from injury
FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. (AP) — Lionel Messi returned from injury for Inter Miami to chants of 'Messi! Messi! Messi!' in a 3-1 win over the the LA Galaxy on Saturday. It was the magic defender Maximiliano Falcón said the team has come to expect. 'We're used to this. You saw what he did, got the ball with a clear look at goal and scored,' Falcón said in Spanish. Even after a two game absence it was no surprise that Messi, MLS' top goal scorer, led Inter Miami to victory. He had been training with the team since midweek and coach Javier Mascherano confirmed he would be available for the weekend match. The Argentine superstar put in a 45 minute shift and his countryman Rodrigo de Paul assisted him as they beat the worst team in MLS. The two world champions did not participate in pregame warmups, but they did warm up before they entered the game at halftime to the raucous cheers of Miami fans. Messi injured his hamstring on Aug. 2 against Necaxa in a Leagues Cup match. Inter Miami reached the Leagues Cup quarterfinals without him, but were defeated by instate rivals Orlando City 4-1 in MLS action. Besides his ability, it's Messi's competitive attitude that transcends this Miami squad according to Mascherano. 'He wants to play every single game. He wanted to play in Orlando also. You have to understand why Leo is Leo, because he always wants to be on the pitch,' Mascherano said after the win over Galaxy. Messi's return comes at an important time, before his squad takes on eight-time Mexican champions Tigres UANL in South Florida on Wednesday. LA Galaxy, the reigning 2024 MLS Cup Champions, also looked at this Saturday's game as a chance to rotate their squad ahead of their Leagues Cup quarterfinal match against C.F. Pachuca. ___

Marcus Rashford makes La Liga debut in Barcelona's 3-0 win over Mallorca
Manchester United loanee Marcus Rashford made his La Liga debut on Saturday as Barcelona kicked off their 2025/26 season with an emphatic 3-0 win over Mallorca. Rashford joined Barcelona earlier this summer on a season-long loan deal. Barcelona cruised past Mallorca Rashford was named on the bench, with Hansi Flick preferring a starting attacking trio of Lamine Yamal and Raphinha on the wings and Ferran Torres leading the line. Barca got off to a first start as Raphinha broke the deadlock just seven minutes in. Yamal delivered a fantastic cross into the box, which bounced off the ground before Raphinha nodded it home. The visitors doubled the lead soon after, albeit in a very controversial fashion. Mallorca defender Antonio Raillo hit the ground in pain while trying to clear a Yama slot. The referee appeared to be blowing his whistle to pause proceedings, but not before Torres fired a beautiful strike into the back of the net with his right foot. Yamal added a third in added time to put the cherry on top of what was a dream start to the campaign for the Blaugrana. Rashford was brought in with 22 minutes left on the clock, replacing Torres. Interestingly, Rashford mostly occupied the left side of the attack, with Raphinha playing in the number nine position. Rashford's performance Rashford's intent was clear as he pushed for a debut goal to mark a bright beginning at Barcelona, though the breakthrough never came. However, he still showed a lot of positive signs, especially in the way he combined with his new teammates. The United loanee touched the ball 14 times and successfully connected with 10 of the 11 passes he attempted (91% individual pass accuracy). Two of his passes were key passes. He lost the ball three times. (Stats obtained from Sofascore) Rashford and Barcelona return to action in a week's time when they take on Levante at Estadio Ciudad de Valencia. A breakthrough member of the midfield ranks at La Liga giants Real Madrid is expected to be afforded a call-up for the club's season opener next week. That's according to El Chiringuito TV, who point towards Thiago Pitarch as the player in question. The name of youngster Pitarch has of course emerged as a prominent one in the chatter surrounding Real Madrid over the last week. This comes after word that the 18-year-old had been called up to first-team training in Spain's capital was quickly followed by confirmation that Xabi Alonso had been left dazzled by Pitarch's talents. As much culminated in the midfielder being handed a new Blancos contract this weekend. And as alluded to above, if the latest word stemming from the media is anything to go by, then Pitarch's sudden emergence looks set to be taken up another notch over the days ahead. As per a report from El Chiringuito TV: 'Pitarch will not play against Ibiza with Castilla. Extended until 2030, everything suggests that Xabi Alonso is counting on him against Osasuna.'
