ISKANDAR PUTERI: Police have arrested four local men for performing dangerous stunts on motorcycles, including 'Superman' poses, during an early morning patrol near the Second Link Expressway.
Iskandar Puteri OCPD Asst Comm M. Kumarasan said the suspects, aged between 18 and 25, were detained early Sunday morning (Aug 10) between KM15J and KM12.9J of the expressway heading towards Gelang Patah.
'They were riding without regard for their own safety and that of other road users,' he said, adding that the case is being investigated under Section 42(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
ACP Kumarasan said police would continue to step up operations and take stern action against stubborn road bullies and illegal racers who endanger others.
He also reminded teenagers to stay away from such immoral activities or risk facing the full brunt of the law.
'Parents and guardians must monitor their children's movements, especially those going out at night on motorcycles. Don't wait until it's too late to regret,' he said.
In an unrelated matter, ACP Kumarasan confirmed two unrelated fatal accidents that claimed the lives of two 20-year-old local men.
He said the first incident occurred at about 8.30pm on Saturday along Jalan Nusa Perintis towards Nusantara and involved an orange-coloured motorcycle and a silver four-wheel-drive vehicle.
'Initial investigations found that the motorcyclist had rammed into the rear of the moving vehicle. The victim suffered injuries to his right arm and internal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene,' he said.
ACP Kumarasan added that the second accident took place at 3am on Sunday along Lebuh Nusajaya heading towards Gelang Patah and involved a silver motorcycle and a black car.
He said the motorcyclist had switched to the right lane to make a U-turn when it was hit from behind by the car travelling straight in the same lane.
'The impact threw the rider onto the car's windscreen. He died at the scene from severe head injuries,' he said.
ACP Kumarasan added that both cases are being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for causing death by reckless or dangerous driving.

QuickCheck: Was a driving school teacher attacked by an upset motorist in Johor?

SOMETIMES, fights happen on the road when one motorist gets angry with how another person is driving. And with that said, it can grab attention when the one at the receiving end of the anger for bad form on the road – whether real or perceived – is someone who everyone expects to know better, like a driving instructor. It was claimed recently that a driving instructor was attacked in Batu Pahat by a motorcyclist angry with how the victim was handling their car on the road. Is this true? VERDICT: TRUE A driving school teacher has sustained injuries after he was attacked by a motorcyclist following a dispute in Batu Pahat. Batu Pahat OCPD Asst Comm Shahrulanuar Mushaddat Abdullah Sani said the 56-year-old victim lodged a police report at 7.24pm on Tuesday (Aug 12) and added that the preliminary investigation found that the incident happened at 1.20pm on the same day at Taman Mutiara, Parit Sulong. 'The 33-year-old motorcyclist apparently stopped the victim who was driving, believed to be due to dissatisfaction over his manner of driving,' he said in a statement on Wednesday, Aug 13. He said the suspect punched the front windscreen of the victim's car, causing it to crack. 'The victim then continued driving to the Parit Sulong police station and was followed by the suspect,' he said. 'When both parties got out of their vehicles, the suspect punched the victim, causing an injury to his forehead, before leaving the scene,' he said. ACP Shahrulanuar added the suspect was detained in the Parit Raja area for further investigation. The case is being investigated under Section 427 of the Penal Code for mischief and Section 323 of the same Act for voluntarily causing hurt, he said.
