A local cat is causing quite a stir in his neighborhood — stealing residents' underwear.
Leo, a 15-month-old feline that lives in the beachside area of Mairangi Bay in Auckland, New Zealand, has been given the nickname "Leonardo da Pinchy" due to his penchant for thievery.
Some of Leo's finds, the Associated Press reported, include silk boxer shorts and thick men's work socks.
The publication added that the cat once even swiped a brand-new cashmere sweater that retails for $181, as well as a 5-foot-long stuffed snake on another occasion.

According to the AP, Leo's stealing habit began a year ago, when he was allowed outdoors for the first time.
Leo's owner, Helen North, told the outlet that she has since used a neighborhood WhatsApp group and a local Facebook page to find the rightful owners of the stolen clothing items.

Still, despite the theft, North said local residents are more impressed than enraged by Leo's handiwork.
'All of our neighbors think he's amazing,' she told the AP. 'Some of them are quite put out that he hasn't actually stolen anything of theirs.'
North has attempted to end her cat's stealing, telling the AP she has tried keeping Leo indoors and has even left clothes out at home for him to steal, but nothing has worked.
'He only wants stuff that he shouldn't have,' the New Zealand resident said.

Explaining that someone online suggested she should get Leo a friend — and that might curb his love of stealing — North told the AP she is against the idea because "he might teach another cat to do this."
'I hope he grows out of it because I don't want to do this for, like, 15 years,' the woman added. 'This is a lot of admin.'

GloRilla's home was targeted by burglars. She says it's ‘crazy' that she was arrested instead

Rap star Glorilla is spilling her tea about her recent arrest, sharing her side of the chain of events that led to her felony drug charges this week. The 'Sticky' and 'TGIF' musician, whose real name is Gloria Woods, said Thursday on X that her run-in with law-enforcement officials was 'CRAZY.' She claimed that police, 'instead of focusing on finding the Suspects' who broke into her Atlanta home, 'they focus[ed] on some cannabis.' '1. So no I wasn't busted 2. My house got robbed 3. I wasn't home,' the 25-year-old performer wrote. 'Long story short my house gets home invaded and I'm the only one that gets arrested.' Officers with the Forsyth County [Ga.] Sheriff's Office were dispatched early Sunday morning to the rapper's home, responding to a report of a burglary. Woods was in Indianapolis at the time for the WNBA All-Star Game, where she was the halftime performer. Three suspects entered Woods' home and were stealing items when an occupant of the house fired a weapon at the intruders. The intruders fled the scene and did not appear to have been injured, the sheriff's office said. Deputies investigating the burglary noticed a 'strong odor consistent with illegal narcotics,' and a drug task force secured a warrant to search the home. A statement from the sheriff's office alleges the task force found marijuana 'in plain view inside the master bedroom closet.' Woods was charged with possession of marijuana and possession of a controlled substance. She voluntarily turned herself in on Tuesday and was released on $22,260 later that day. The sheriff's office said that it has not located the suspects and that its investigation into the burglary is ongoing. Legal representatives for Woods alleged the suspects fled the scene with 'high value jewelry' and that Woods' family members staying at the home 'were traumatized' by the incident. Attorneys Drew Findling and Marissa Goldberg said in a statement that Woods' arrest is 'a disturbing window into how warped law enforcement priorities have become' and that their client 'is a victim, not a suspect.' Sheriff Ron Freeman said in a statement that the homeowner is the 'victim of a serious crime' and that officers seek justice but 'at the same time ... must continue to uphold and enforce the law in all aspects of this case.' After speaking out on X about her arrest, GloRilla moved forward by celebrating the arrival of Leo season. The 'Typa' artist, who celebrates her birthday Monday, shared on social media revealing pictures of herself posing with a chair. 'Anyways, dey done let da LEOS ina door,' she captioned the pics. The three-time Grammy nominee will take over the FedEx Forum in Memphis, Tenn., on Friday for her inaugural Glo Bash concert. The Associated Press contributed to this report.

Cat dubbed 'Leonardo da Pinchy' is stealing neighbors' underwear

July 24 (UPI) -- A New Zealand cat named Leo earned the nickname "Leonardo da Pinchy" after he was shown to be a literal cat burglar with a penchant for stealing underwear. Owner Helen North said Leo, a 14-month-old Tonkinese, has brought home about 150 pilfered items in the past nine months. "He brings home a lot of things. He doesn't do much with them once they are inside, he just dumps them on the floors and just goes about his business," she told Radio New Zealand. North said Leo's favorite items to steal include underwear and socks, but he isn't too picky. "A really expensive jersey with the tags still on, stuffed toys, loads of underpants and socks, gardening gloves, activewear, hats, sports bras, shorts, East Coast Bays rugby socks, an All Blacks jersey ... everything, really," she told She said Sundays are Leo's top days for crime, as that's when the neighborhood clothes lines are the most populated with easily-reachable clothing items. "Other than that, well, he's a kitten -- so he attacks everything, bites you, and wakes you up in the middle of the night," North said. North said she uses a local Whatsapp group and Facebook groups to help her neighbors reclaim Leo's ill-gotten gains. She said the largest thing Leo has brought home was a 5-foot-long stuffed snake. "He brought that home twice so he obviously really really liked it," she said.
