Instagram Says Trial Reels Have Helped Creators Significantly Increase Their Reach

This story was originally published on Social Media Today. To receive daily news and insights, subscribe to our free daily Social Media Today newsletter. Instagram's trial Reels have been available for just on six months now, and IG is keen to get more creators trying out its audience sampling feature, in order to help boost content performance. As you can see in this example sequence, trial Reels are shown to a selection of users who don't follow your profile, which can give you early insight into the likely performance of your Reel. To be clear, trial Reels are not displayed to your followers, either in the main Feed or via the Reels tab. The idea is that this gives you an unbiased assessment of content quality, while also helping you potentially reach a broader audience. Which some have also used as a growth hack of sorts, in that you can get your content in front of a broader audience in the app by only showing your Reels to people who don't follow you. Within that, you can also re-post older posts as trial Reels as well, and some creators have found this to be an effective way to build their audience. Another element to consider. 'Approximately 24 hours after sharing a trial reel, you can view engagement data, such as views, likes, comments and shares. The more trial reels you create, the more insights you'll have to compare against other trial reels and the more understanding you'll have on what might perform best.' You're limited to 20 trial Reels per day, but outside of that, you can test and measure your initial Reels' response, which can then help to inform your content strategy. And for those who are using trial Reels, they have proven effective: 'After trying trial reels, 40% of creators started posting reels more often and of those who did, 80% saw an increase in reels reach from non-followers.' So it can help to guide your thinking on what to post, while you can also easily convert trial Reels into regular posts, which will then be shared with your followers. It could be a valuable tool in your IG strategy, and as Instagram notes, many creators are finding this a valuable tool for audience sampling. And IG clearly wants more creators to try it out. If you are thinking about adopting trial Reels, you need to have a professional account (though IG also says that some creators without a professional account may have access to trial reels as part of ongoing testing). You can activate a trial Reel in the publish element of the Reels upload process. Sign in to access your portfolio

Fans React to Newly Surfaced ‘90s Dating Show Footage of Big TV Star: ‘I Bet He Tried Out for 'Real World''

Fans React to Newly Surfaced '90s Dating Show Footage of Big TV Star: 'I Bet He Tried Out for 'Real World'' originally appeared on Parade. Jon Hamm wasn't an overnight success. The Your Friends & Neighbors star, 54, paid his dues with small parts until he got his big break on the hit AMC drama Mad Men. Newly surfaced video from the '90s shows one of Hamm's earlier 'roles'—this time as a contestant on a USA Network dating game show called The Big Date, hosted by Mark L. Walberg. The resurfaced footage shows a much younger, less-Hollywood-heartthrob Hamm talking about his ideal date. The aspiring actor was rejected twice on the show, but the footage lives on in had strong reactions to Hamm's hair and his on-screen persona in the dating show footage. One commenter wrote on the video shared to Instagram, 'That hair!' in reference to Hamm's '90s curtain cut and middle part, while another shared, 'He definitely got better looking with age.'Other fans weren't quite taken with Hamm's description of a perfect first date when he said, 'Well, start off with some fabulous food, some fabulous conversation.' When prompted to share what else would be fabulous about the date, Hamm offered, 'a fabulous foot massage for an evening of total fabulosity.' In response, one fan quipped, 'We'd go to Home Depot. Yeah, buy some wallpaper, maybe get some flooring, stuff like that.' Some fans found Jon Hamm's dating show footage to channel full 1990s vibes with one writing, "I bet he tried out for Real World 😂" While some fans were charmed by Hamm's early on-camera efforts, other commenters made note of a hazing incident the actor was reportedly involved in during his time at the University of Texas. 🎬SIGN UP for Parade's Daily newsletter to get the latest pop culture news & celebrity interviews delivered right to your inbox🎬 Fans React to Newly Surfaced '90s Dating Show Footage of Big TV Star: 'I Bet He Tried Out for 'Real World'' first appeared on Parade on Jun 7, 2025 This story was originally reported by Parade on Jun 7, 2025, where it first appeared.

'80s Rocker, 69, Strips Down on Stage for Jaw-Dropping Performance: 'Was Loud When the Shirt Came Off' originally appeared on Parade. Billy Idol, 69, shows no signs of slowing down. The '80s punk-pop icon—known for his signature platinum blonde spiky hair and requisite sneer—is currently on tour. The Rebel Yell singer was once famous for flashing his toned abs onstage. In recent footage shared to social media from a May 2025 show at the Budweiser Arena in Toronto, Canada, Idol bares (mostly) all again—much to the delight of his devoted legion of the video, the energetic singer can be seen performing his 1984 hit Flesh for Fantasy. While the crowd sings along, Idol dances to the song's iconic bassline, which thumps like a heartbeat. He then turns his back to the audience and dramatically slips off his shirt, slowly replacing it with a new look—to the loud approval of his swooning fans. 'He's still got it!' shared one enthusiastic fan. Another wrote, 'Still a legend.' The on-stage strip-down didn't go unnoticed by Idol's fans either. One wrote, 'I saw this live too and was LOUD when the shirt came off.'While a few commenters were less than diplomatic about Idol's aging appearance, we're with the hundreds of fans who were impressed by how well his music, voice, and stage presence have held up over time. Billy Idol is making his 60s look good—and we love to see it. 🎬SIGN UP for Parade's Daily newsletter to get the latest pop culture news & celebrity interviews delivered right to your inbox🎬'80s Rocker, 69, Strips Down on Stage for Jaw-Dropping Performance: 'Was Loud When the Shirt Came Off' first appeared on Parade on Jun 7, 2025 This story was originally reported by Parade on Jun 7, 2025, where it first appeared.
