'I invited him to comm box': Karthik debunks viral video showing Jitesh Sharma being denied entry at Lord's
Karthik revealed the entrance where Jitesh was stopped by a guard was not the entrance to Lord's but rather to the media center, where he himself had invited Jitesh.
"These are some issues with social media that a lot face . I invited Jitesh to the comm box , he had come , and I came and met him down and took him to the comm box and he met everyone there. Btw this is below the media center , not the entrance to the ground," posted Karthik.
This news came out on the same day when Farokh Dastoor, CEO of the Vidarbha Cricket Association (VCA), confirmed to IANS on Wednesday that they have issued an NOC to Jitesh, to join the Badora domestic team ahead of the 2025-26 season.
'Jitesh has enjoyed a close friendship with Krunal Pandya, his RCB teammate during the side's first IPL win in June. With him not having played Ranji Trophy last season and Pandya aiming to make a Baroda team which can win a domestic title in the upcoming season, it all came together for Jitesh to leave Vidarbha,' said sources aware of the development to IANS.
In the last domestic season, Jitesh captained Vidarbha in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy (SMAT) competition and played under Karun Nair's leadership in the Vijay Hazare Trophy (VHT). A move to Baroda means Jitesh will be able to play both white ball and red ball formats, where he's played only 18 first-class games since making his longer format debut in 2015/16.
For RCB in IPL 2025, Jitesh played key knocks as a finisher, including hitting an unbeaten 85 in a must-win against Lucknow Super Giants and helping RCB finish in the top two of the points table. He also served as RCB's captain when Rajat Patidar suffered a finger injury towards the back end of the ca/ompetition.

Sourav Ganguly Offers Advise To Gautam Gambhir: 'Pick The Right Attack, Play...'
Last Updated: Former India captain Sourav Ganguly advised head coach Gautam Gambhir to play spinner Kuldeep Yadav in the final Test against England at The Oval. Former India captain Sourav Ganguly advised head coach Gautam Gambhir to play spinner Kuldeep Yadav in the fifth and final Test of the series against England at The Oval. India's determined fightback in the fourth Test at Old Trafford secured a draw for the visitors on the final day. With England leading the five-match series 2-1, the former India captain is confident that the visiting team can win the series finale by choosing the 'right bowling attack" and maintaining their batting momentum. 'I advise Gambhir to play Kuldeep Yadav in the fifth Test and pick the right bowling attack. If we continue to bat like this, we can win at The Oval," Ganguly told IANS. Reflecting on India's batting performance in Manchester, Ganguly noted that after such an outstanding display, the team must be contemplating their Lord's result, where they lost by 22 runs chasing a modest target of 193. 'This is a young team, we have to give them some time as the team is rebuilding. The way they batted in the fourth innings yesterday, scoring more than 400 runs, India will feel bad that they lost the Lord's Test. They batted very well on the fifth day in Manchester; the 190 should have been achieved at Lord's," the former left-handed batter said. 'After a long time, many Indian batters have scored significant runs in an overseas Test series. This is something that pleases me and is a positive sign for Indian cricket. These young players will represent the country for a long time, and their performances in England will surely boost their confidence. If we improve our bowling, we can win at The Oval," Ganguly added. The veteran cricketer further praised wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant for his consistent performance on the tour. Pant, who sustained a right foot fracture in the fourth Test, has been ruled out of the final Test of the series. 'He is a very good Test player. He is injured, and his foot was fractured; he will take time to recover. He has batted brilliantly in the series," Ganguly said of Pant. 'India played good cricket and saved the Test match after batting for more than 140 overs. Ravindra Jadeja and Washington Sundar played very well," the southpaw added. The fifth and final Test of the series will be played at The Oval in London starting Thursday. view comments First Published: Disclaimer: Comments reflect users' views, not News18's. Karnataka revokes suspension of top cops after Bengaluru stampede case inquiry
The Karnataka government has revoked the suspension of former Bengaluru Police Commissioner B Dayananda, Additional Commissioner of Police Vikash Kumar Vikash and Deputy Commissioner of Police (Central) Shekar H Tekkannavar. The three senior officers were suspended following the June 4 stampede incident outside M Chinnaswamy Stadium, which claimed 11 lives and left several others injured. A government order confirmed their reinstatement into service. Alongside Dayananda, Vikash Kumar and Shekar, the suspension of Deputy Superintendent of Police (DySP) C Balakrishna, who was then serving as Assistant Commissioner of Police (Cubbon Park), and Inspector Girish, the then Station House Officer of Cubbon Park Police Station, has also been revoked with immediate order stated, 'Since both the Judicial Commission under John Michael D'Cunha and the Magisterial Committee District Magistrate Jagadish G have completed their enquiry into the stampede incident and submitted their reports to the government on July 10 and July 11, 2025 respectively, the officers also submitted representations requesting that their suspension be revoked. In view of the above, the order of suspension of the officers has been reconsidered by the government.' All five officers were suspended by the Karnataka government after a Cabinet meeting on June 5. The stampede took place during a special felicitation ceremony organised by the Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) to honour the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) players after they won their maiden Indian Premier League (IPL) title in 18 years. The incident drew widespread criticism of the police over lapses in preparedness and crowd control July 1, the Central Administrative Tribunal (CAT) had ordered the reinstatement of suspended IPS officer Vikash Kumar Vikash and directed that the period of his suspension be treated as duty with full pay and allowances. The tribunal further directed the state government to review the suspension of the other two officers, including B Dayananda, and said they should be extended the same benefit without having to approach the response, the state government challenged the tribunal's order in theKarnataka High Court on July 2, contending that the tribunal had overstepped its jurisdiction by making determinations on the stampede without the benefit of a full-fledged departmental inquiry. It described the tribunal's reasoning as 'perverse' and inconsistent with established legal principles concerning government filed a writ petition before the High Court which stated, 'Despite placing material on record justifying the suspension, the Tribunal failed to assess it in the right perspective.'The Karnataka cabinet also approved the findings of the Justice John Michael D'Cunha judicial commission that probed the June 4 stampede outside Bengaluru's Chinnaswamy Stadium, paving the way for action against multiple parties, including IPL franchise Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), the Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA), event management company DNA Entertainment, and Bengaluru Police one-man judicial commission, formed after the Karnataka High Court took suo motu cognisance of the incident, has held RCB, KSCA, DNA Entertainment, and the Bengaluru Police directly responsible for what it termed as 'gross negligence and dereliction of duty.'- Ends IN THIS STORY#Bengaluru#Karnataka

Washington Sundar's Father Accuses India Selectors Of Bias: 'Only My Son...'
Last Updated: Washington Sundar's father has accused Indian selectors of bias and favoritism despite his son's consistent performances. All-rounder Washington Sundar's father, Mr. Mani Sundar, has accused Indian selectors of bias and favoritism against his son. He believes that, unlike other players who 'get regular chances', only Washington gets dropped even after good performances, while also missing selections when he deserves to play. The comments come soon after Sundar's match-saving century at Old Trafford. He came to bat at a time when the team had lost two set batters in KL Rahul and Shubman Gill in quick succession, on a tricky pitch, with England still threatening an innings defeat on the final day. He smashed 101 off 206 balls, in an unbeaten 203-run stand alongside Ravindra Jadeja to see off over three hours of play, forcing England to offer a draw. 'Washington has been doing very well consistently," Mr. Sundar said in an interview with The Times of India. 'However, people tend to avoid and forget his performances. Other players get regular chances, only my son doesn't get them. Washington should consistently bat at number five like he did in the second innings of the fourth Test and get five to ten straight chances. My son was surprisingly not picked for the first Test against England. The selectors should watch his performances," he added. 'My son gets dropped even if he fails in just one or two matches. It is not fair. Washington scored an unbeaten 85 on a rank turner in Chennai against England back in 2021 and 96* against the same opposition in Ahmedabad during the same year. He would have been dropped even if those two knocks had ended up in centuries. Has this kind of an approach been maintained for any other Indian cricketer? He has become very strong after all this and the result is the performance which people are witnessing now," the senior Sundar said. Sundar got picked in all three Tests after the first. Though his batting returns remained sub-par in the first two, he was excellent with the ball, including with a brilliant four-wicket haul at Lord's in the third match. 'Even his IPL team didn't give him regular chances": Senior Sundar Mr. Sundar also took a dig at the Gujarat Titans for not giving him regular chances — he played just six of the team's 15 matches. 'Even his current team (GT) don't give him regular chances. He showcased his calibre in the IPL 2025 Eliminator against Mumbai Indians (MI), smashing 48 off 24 balls. Look at the way Yashasvi Jaiswal has been backed by RR. Washington hasn't been able to enjoy a consistent run even in case of domestic cricket," he added. view comments First Published: Disclaimer: Comments reflect users' views, not News18's.
