Ex-WWE head Vince McMahon charged with reckless driving after crash
July 30 (UPI) -- Connecticut police charged former WWE CEO Vince McMahon for reckless driving and following too closely after a multicar collision on July 24 in Westport, Conn.
McMahon, 78, driving 2024 Bentley Continental GT Speed, allegedly crashed into a BMW 430. Both cars crashed into a wooden guardrail, which sent debris into a median. A 2020 Ford Fusion, driven by a 27-year-old man in the opposite direction, crashed into the debris.
There were no injuries.
Police released McMahon on $500 bond. He is scheduled to appear in Stamford Superior Court on Aug. 26.
The driver of the BMW posted her account on Facebook.
Barbara Doran, 72, is the founder and CEO of BD8 Capital Partners. She claimed that McMahon hit her after speeding "in and out of cars."
"Lucky to have survived a horrific car crash on the way up to catch the ferry to Martha's Vineyard last Thursday morning. Both cars totaled. Vince McMahon @Mr. McMahon /#VinceMcMahon, former chair of WWE, hit me going 80-90mph as I drove in the right lane of the narrow Merritt Highway (built in the 1930s). I and the dog are mostly fine, but was lucky to have kept control of the car, more or less, as I shot off the road after being catapulted over 100 yards.
"An unmarked state trooper had been following him as he sped in and out of cars down the highway and had just turned his lights on to pull Mcmahon over, but he was not in time. Both front wheels of McMahon's Bentley were sheared off, and his airbags deployed, probably saving him from significant injury.
"The trooper told me afterwards that McMahon saw me last minute and swerved, smashing into my left rear, but that if he had hit me full on, there might've been a very different ending for me."
McMahon rose to fame as the owner of WWE. He bought the entity from his father in 1982, and often put himself into the dramatics of wrestling.
He stepped down as CEO of WWE in 2022 during an investigation into sexual assault, trafficking and abuse allegations and resigned as executive chair of TKO Group Holdings, the WWE's parent company, in 2023, after a lawsuit was filed by a former employee.
In January, he agreed to pay $1.7 million in fines and restitution for violating U.S. securities laws.
His wife, Linda McMahon, is the U.S. Secretary of Education.

"Jack Smith's actions were clearly driven to hurt President Trump's election, and Smith should be held fully accountable," said Senate Intelligence Committee chair Sen. Tom Cotton, R-Ark., told the New York Post in a statement. The U.S. Office of Special Counsel is an independent federal investigative and prosecutorial agency, which also operates as a secure channel for federal whistleblowers. The Hatch Act was passed in 1939 and "limits certain political activities of federal employees," while ensuring "that federal programs are administered in a nonpartisan fashion." Smith's role as special prosecutor is not related to the Office of Special Counsel. Smith in January resigned from the Justice Department, days before Trump took office for his second term as president. He initially announced his intention to resign following Trump's victory in the November 2024 election. Last month, Attorney General Pam Bondi fired nine former members of Smith's former team of federal prosecutors and assistance. That brought the number of firings of employees involved in prosecutorial efforts of Trump to 20.

According to police, McMahon was behind the wheel of a 2024 Bentley Continental GT Speed on July 24 when he collided with a BMW 430 on the Merritt Parkway in Westport, Connecticut. Police seek suspect who shot, killed 4 people in Montana bar
Aug. 2 (UPI) -- Authorities are searching for a suspect in the shooting deaths of four people at a bar in a small town in western Montana. The Montana Division of Criminal Investigation identified the gunman in the shooting, which happened on Friday morning at the Owl Bar in Anaconda, Mont., as 45-year-old Michael Paul Brown. Anaconda is 130 miles east of Idaho and 198 miles west of Bozeman, Mont.. "This is a small, tight-knit community that has been harmed by the heinous actions of one individual today who does not represent what this community or Montanans stand for," Lee Johnson, with the agency, said. Johnson said his Ford F-150 pickup was found, and that officials were searching the mountains near Stumptown Road just west of Anaconda. Residents of the town, of whom there are roughly 10,000, were told Friday night to stay in their homes and be vigilant because he was considered armed and dangerous. SWAT team members cleared his home in neighboring Granite City, the Anaconda-Deer Lodge County Law Enforcement Center said. The home is about 25 minutes from the bar. "I've bartended quite a few years, so I'm pretty familiar with most everyone," Sierra, a 7 Gables employee, told KPAX-TV about Brown. "I have met him multiple times. I have served him multiple times. I have had conversations with him multiple times. I have not served him up here yet. "We're waiting for the kitchen chef to be done so we can actually all leave together and so we all know each other made it safe." Agents with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives are assisting in the investigation and the FBI's Deputy Director posted on X that agents are being sent to the area to assist. Montana Gov. Greg Gianfort also posted Friday on X that he was "closely monitoring the situation involving an active shooter in Anaconda." Officials have identified the four victims have been identified, but they declined to release their names until their families had been notified.
