Imran Khan's Comeback Film After A Decade Is A Rom-Com With Bhumi Pednekar

Imran Khan became a sensation with the young audience with his most loved rom-coms, namely, I Hate Luv Storys, Break Ke Baad, and Jaane Tu...Ya Jaane Na. In 2015, the failure of Katti Batti made Imran Khan take a long sabbatical.
But the latest reports suggest he is all set to make a comeback with a Netflix film. It is going to be a rom-com with Bhumi Pednekar.
Film Journalist Rahul Raut even took to X to share a picture of the clapboard, which further confirms that this is indeed happening.
The caption read, "#ImranKhan RETURNS TO MOVIES AFTER A DECADE as he officially begins shooting for his COMEBACK FILM today in Mumbai... #BhumiPednekar and @gurfatehpirzada also star in this dysfunctional romantic dramedy... # BreakKeBaad director Danish Aslam helms this @NetflixIndia film!"

Considering Imran Khan's loyal fanbase stemmed from his array of rom-coms, fans are most excited to see him in an easy-breezy avatar once again.
A source has also told HT City, "The platform wants to make the first announcement themselves. Bhumi Pednekar is locked for the leading role with Imran. The pre-production work is in full swing, and the cameras will roll in a month."
The script of the rom-com has been written by Danish Aslam, and the production is by him, Imran, and another mutual friend of theirs.
Back in September 2024, HT City reported, "They took the project to a streaming platform, who based on the pitch level, gave it a thumbs up since there was no full screenplay. No agreement has been signed yet, that's only done when the screenplay is approved."
Imran Khan has been trending on social media for the last year or so. He has also become a lot more active on social media, as he shared a slew of BTS pictures from his films I Hate Luv Storys, Break Ke Baad, and Gori Tere Pyaar Mein, to name a few.

Now, speaking exclusively to News18 Showsha, Rana Daggubati also admits that their south fans were rather taken aback with him and his uncle, Venkatesh in the show. 'It's not that they aren't used to seeing us that way. It's just that shows aren't that popular in south. Netflix and Amazon hadn't made series or shows there before this one. Rana Naidu was one of the earliest shows that they watched. Mirzapur was dubbed for the audience there but a very small segment of them had watched it," he says. 'Rana Naidu became big because both Venky sir and I were there in it. It became quite mainstream," he adds. But Rana also believes that the backlash from south fans also stemmed from Venkatesh's family man image. 'As for Venky sir's image, he was largely doing films that were family dramas. He did some negative roles very early on in his career, which got forgotten over time. Rana Naidu was a show that got him back to that element," he states. But strong reactions from fans, Rana believes, is sometimes 'inevitable'. 'Every time you're doing something different and try to break away from a mould, there will be a bunch of people who will like you a lot and wouldn't want to see you doing the films or the characters they've been playing for the last few years. And then, there will be another bunch who won't like this new character. It's up to you as an actor as to how you can make them fall in love with this new role or image," he remarks. However, Rana Naidu gave others the opportunity to see a different side of Venkatesh, who in real life is quite different. 'He has a sense of humour – wicked, not so much. He doesn't have an evil bone in his body. He's too much of a saint that way," points out Rana. Interestingly, this series marks their first onscreen collaboration. It goes without saying that it helped Rana explore a new dynamic to their relationship. In his words, what he shares with his uncle today is 'friendship'. 'We definitely got much closer. We got to spend a lot more time together. Before Rana Naidu, we weren't ever together on a set as actors. I've only done some behind-the-scenes work when he was on set as an actor. The uncle-nephew relationship is gone. We're like friends now. We got to travel and have meals together. This bond is a lot of fun," shares the Virata Parvam and Vettaiyan actor. First Published:

Thug Life on OTT: Will Kamal Haasan and Simbu starrer break its 8-week streaming deal?
Thug Life starring Kamal Haasan and Simbu in the lead roles hit the big screens on June 5, 2025. Ahead of its release, the movie was said to have an 8-week OTT deal, but things may differ now. According to M9 News, the movie might be hitting the streaming service in 4 weeks, as per usual norms. The decision by the OTT giant Netflix is reported to be due to the Mani Ratnam directorial's failure, both commercially and critically. Ahead of its release, Haasan mentioned that the decision to have an 8-week deal for OTT was a 'pragmatic' one, but now it seems fans won't have to wait that long. However, an official confirmation is yet to be made by the makers and the streaming space. Talking about the movie, Thug Life is a gangster actioner featuring Kamal Haasan and Silambarasan TR in the lead roles. The film features the tale of Rangaraaya Sakthivel, an ageing mafia crime boss who adopts a young boy, Amaran, after a shootout in Delhi. Years later, the man raises his foster son as his own, making him a formidable member of the mafia. With circumstances tying his hands, Sakthivel appoints his adopted son to lead the gang, which eventually leads to an animosity between them. As the story progresses, the film develops into a battle of death with father and son going head-to-head until one perishes. Apart from the lead actors, the movie had a large ensemble cast which consisted of Trisha Krishnan, Aishwarya Lekshmi, Abhirami, Ashok Selvan, Joju George, Nassar, Ali Fazal, and more in key roles. The flick, directed by Mani Ratnam, marked the director's reunion with Haasan after 3 decades. With AR Rahman crafting the musical tracks and scores, the movie was received with negative-to-mixed reviews. Moving ahead, Kamal Haasan is next set to appear in the tentatively titled KH237 with AnbArivu duo serving as the directors. On the other hand, STR is speculated to soon join hands with director Vetrimaaran for an action venture. He also has multiple films in the lineup.
