Daily Mail22-07-2025
She's been enjoying some downtime since quitting her role on Hollyoaks.
And Nikki Sanderson showed off her toned figure during a holiday to Majorca, Spain on Monday.
The actress, who left the Channel 4 soap earlier this year, wore a tiny patterned bikini while posing for a photo.
She accessorised with a pair of large sunglasses and pushed her hair back from her face
Nikki captioned her Instagram update: 'Summer lovin'
The soapstar was joined by her partner Anthony Quinlan on the trip, with the couple also smiling for a selfie in a separate post.
Nikki revealed in March that she had quit Hollyoaks after starring as Maxine Minniver for 13 years.
Before filming her final scenes in April, the actress told The Mirror that the decision to walk away was an 'incredibly difficult' one.
She told the publication: 'Deciding to leave was an incredibly difficult decision for me because Maxine is a huge, huge part of my life – and a part of my life that I've loved.
'It's difficult to think, "It's time", and it wasn't an instant or overnight decision, it took me a long time to make it and it was something I genuinely fought with myself about, but I'm lucky that I could talk to people around me and get people's opinions.
'I'm grateful that I've had the stability for so long, now I've just got to embrace the instability of not knowing what's next.'
She confirmed that she is not done with the soap world and would jump to Coronation Street, where she previously played Candice Stowe, if given the chance.
Nikki joined the cast of Hollyoaks in 2012 and has become a huge fan favourite over the years.
Over the years, she has appeared in some hard-hitting storylines, including domestic abuse in her relationship with Patrick Blake, sexual assault after a night out, and her character getting diagnosed with Munchausen's syndrome.
But she's decided to step back from her role as Maxine and explore other opportunities, with her final scenes yet to air.
A source told The Sun: 'She met with bosses and told them of her plans to leave, she'd just turned 40 and felt the time was right to say goodbye to Maxine.
'She's keen to explore other opportunities and is excited to get back out there.
'Bosses have been plotting Maxine's exit storyline for months and have promised it will be a fitting tribute to the character, and viewers can expect a lot of drama before she goes.'
Hollyoaks isn't the only TV show that Nikki has appeared on.
Between 1999 and 2005, the star took on the role of Candice Stowe in ITV's Coronation Street.
In 2006, she appeared in Holby City as Monica Southworth.
Between 2008 and 2009 Nikki played Dawn Bellamy in Heartbeat and In 2012 she also landed the role of Amy Harris in Casualty.
Over the years, she's also been nominated for several television awards. She won Best Actress at the Inside Soap Awards in 2014.

Coronation Street's Debbie dealt with family betrayal amid dementia battle

Debbie Webster (Sue Devaney) took drastic action after she discovered her own brother Kevin (Michael Le Vell) had betrayed her during the latest episode of the ITV soap Coronation Street's Debbie Webster (Sue Devaney) was left on the verge of tears as she was discovered a family member's betrayal during Wednesday's episode. As viewers of the ITV soap will know, earlier in the week, Abi Webster ( Sally Carman) slept with her brother-in-law Carl (Jonathan Howard) after weeks of holding back her feelings. ‌ It all came about after she had discovered that her husband Kevin Webster (Michael Le Vell) had been lying to her about his cancer, having been given the all-clear months ago. She tried to pack her bags after her encounter with Carl, but was persuaded to stay by her stepson Jack (Kyran Bowes) and when the teenager spotted his Aunty Debbie on the Street, she coaxed the situation out of him. ‌ The hotel owner, who was diagnosed with vascular dementia earlier this year, stormed round to number 13 to ask what she thought she was doing when her husband is so sick. She told Abi: "If anybody treated me the way you're treating my brother, it's disgusting! Shame on you. In sickness and in health, to death us do part. Does that ring any bells?" ‌ In the heat of the moment, Abi revealed the truth as she told a shocked Debbie: "Your precious, do-no-wrong brother has been lying to us all for weeks." Furious, Debbie marched over to the garage where Kevin was at work and yelled: "You're cancer- free!" Through tears, she added: "Of all the despicable things to do, to lie about something like that, when you know what I'm going through. What I've got. Shut your gob!" Kevin tried to wriggle out of the situation, but Debbie was having none of it, as she coldly told him: "I'm sure you can justify giving me sleepless night after sleepless night. I don't want to know, because, that's the most liberating thing about having a terminal illness. You get to choose what you care about." ‌ At that point, Debbie turned to her younger brother Carl, and quickly sussed out that he was also in on the lie. Before leaving the scene, the hotel manager looked Kevin in the eye and told him: "I hope you hold onto your wife, because you've just lost your sister." Later on, Abi apologised to Kevin for telling Debbie the truth, but he took full responsibility for the situation. He added: "Can't blame our Debbie for disowning me, I bet you wish you'd left me now," although Abi did not give him a response. Despite the major revelation, Debbie and Kevin are still unaware of Abi's infidelity. Earlier this week, Carl declared that their initial encounter was 'worth the wait' and they kissed Abi claimed that things with Kevin were over. ‌ But later, in the Rovers, Carl did not seem so keen on the idea of Abi calling off her entire marriage as she weighed up what they had begun. As viewers will know, last week, Carl organised the theft of an expensive car and is aware that his brother could have him arrested at any moment. "Don't I deserve to be happy?" she asked him and he told her to go home to be with Kevin. In the days before Kevin's brother arrived on the cobbles, the mechanic was famously married to Sally Metcalfe ( Sally Dynevor) and they had daughters Rosie ( Helen Flanagan) and Sophie ( Brooke Vincent) together. They initially split up when Kevin had an an affair with Natalie Barnes ( Denise Welch) but they remarried in 2002. Their marriage survived numerous infidelities on both sides, but ultimately crumbled when Kevin fathered Jack with Molly Dobbs (Vicky Binns) before she died in the 2010 tram crash as part of the programme's 50th anniversary. ‌ Carl is the son of Kevin's dad Bill Webster (Peter Armitage) and his second wife Elaine (Judy Gridley) and spent most of his life in Germany with his parents until he arrived on the Manchester backstreet earlier this year. In real life, Jonathan spent 10 years in LA and working alongside big-name stars including Brad Pitt and Anthony Hopkins, but the 38-year-old actor ranks landing a part in Corrie among his greatest achievements. He told The Mirror: "Being in Coronation Street is just as big a thrill as being in a Hollywood film or an American TV series. It's all the same, everyone's telling stories, whether it's a big $200m movie or a soap like Corrie. As a Lancashire lad born and raised, the dream was to be in Coronation Street – that was the ceiling, so it feels wonderfully surreal to now be acting with people like Kevin Webster that I watched religiously as a kid. "My friends ask me, 'what you have been up to today?' and I reply 'I took Tracy Barlow for a drink in the Rovers Return!' It's just incredible to say these things."

Huge 00s pop group with four UK number ones in talks with Netflix to make documentary about their troubled history

S CLUB could be bringing it all back to you on Netflix, according to band member Jon Lee. The singer has claimed the streaming service is in talks to make a documentary about the group's long and troubled history, while also airing their old TV shows. 3 And the programme promises to delve deep into the Don't Stop Movin' stars' darkest hours, while also providing some light relief to appease their loyal following. Talking ahead of his appearance on E4's Celebs Go Dating on August 11, Jon explains: 'The record company own the rights to all the TV shows and our music catalogue and they're talking to Netflix, which will be great. 'We're also talking to them about doing our own documentary as well. Just for us.' However, he stressed the importance of keeping a positive mindset. He said: 'If you pooh-pooh everything, fans are like, 'That's a part of my childhood gone.' "People don't like it when you moan. They think, 'I would have swapped with you in a heartbeat'.' Formerly called S Club 7, the band bagged four No1 singles and three Top 10 albums in their Noughties heyday. Their songs are still played today and the remaining members embarked on a comeback tour in 2023 and are planning another next year, claims Jon. However, the group won't just be remembered for their catchy hits. Indeed, original member Paul Cattermole died of heart failure at the age of 46 just before the group's 2023 reunion and his bandmate and ex-girlfriend, Hannah Spearritt quit shortly after because of mental health reasons. The troubled star left the UK for a new start in Costa Rica and recently attempted a showbiz comeback on Channel 4's Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins but withdrew after just one day. She's not the first band member to have an unsavoury reality show appearance after Jo O'Meara was caught up in the Jade Goody and Shilpa Shetty racism scandal on 2007's Celebrity Big Brother. Meanwhile Jon has chronicled his own battles with mental health issues and drug addiction. I doubt any documentary will be short of content . . . DATING DUO'S BLIND FAITH MARRIED Matt and Emma Willis are back to coach another group of singles through Netflix's smash dating experiment Love Is Blind. Looking stunning all suited and booted, the loved-up pair are perfectly poised to steer the 30 hopefuls, with the first four episodes of season two dropping on August 13. The singletons take to individual 'pods' to chat to each other through a speaker system. Some even get engaged without ever setting eyes on each other. But the bonkers process has proven to work, with series one lovebirds Bobby and Jasmine and Nicole and Benaiah still together. This year's men include health coach Javen, lift engineer Jordan and dating-app designer Jack. While the women include wedding singer Aanu, cabin crew Ashleigh, and fitness instructor Megan. And one of them, occupational therapist Yolanda, will hope for the same success as her cousin Mimi Ngulube, who won Love Island last year. The 10 episodes of Love Is Blind UK will drop in three parts, landing on August 13, 20 and 27. YOUNG OWEN A FILM CUB ADOLESCENCE child star Owen Cooper has landed a new acting gig alongside Suranne Jones. The talented teen, who played Jamie in the Netflix hit, will feature in new drama Film Club, which is co-written by The White Lotus star Aimee Lou Wood. The synopsis reads: 'Two movie enthusiasts, Tom and Evie, share a weekly film club where their unspoken feelings for each other grow. 'When Tom decides to move away for work, Evie has a limited time to confess her love before potentially losing him.' Owen's Adolescence co-star Erin Doherty has hailed his talents. Erin played forensic psychologist Briony, whose talk with Jamie (Owen) takes up most of episode three. She told the Travel Secrets podcast: 'To be in that room watching him kind of just bloom was so magical. 'He really is spectacular. I'm so excited for him.' Suranne will no doubt share the same appreciation. LARRY'S LINING UP RAIL TRIP LARRY LAMB devastated fans when he hinted this month he planned to retire from TV. So it's exciting to reveal the EastEnders and Gavin & Stacey actor is plotting a new project with his son George following their travelogue Britain By Bike for Channel 5. George told Heat magazine: 'I'm not sure Dad's up for another bike ride now, but we could do Britain By Rail. Or Britain By Shopping Trolley – who knows! For us, it's not about dream destinations, it's about being together.' Larry added: 'We've been toying with the idea of something called End Of The Line, where we'd travel to the ends of railway lines and have little adventures. 'Spending time with each other is a beautiful thing. You have to make the most of it.' We feel the same way, Larry. Bizbit HAVE you lost a treasured item in the Lake District? Parents blasted for leaving sleeping child in a buggy alone while they go on a RIDE at Chessington theme park

IT'S the summer holidays - theme parks are heaving, queues are long, and parents across the country are doing their best to keep the kids entertained. But one shocking video has sparked a furious debate over just how far some mums and dads will go to enjoy themselves. 2 A TikTok clip filmed at Chessington World of Adventures has gone viral after capturing what appears to be a sleeping toddler left alone in a buggy while their parents allegedly hopped on a ride. The video, shared four days ago by user @ coachrobcradds, shows the small child dozing in a stroller near a ride entrance, with no adult in sight. Since it was posted, it's racked up a staggering 769,600 views and 521 comments, with many users slamming the behaviour that is being blasted as just 'wrong.' Sharing their shock, the video was captioned with: 'cannot believe someone done this!' According to the video's creator, the parents had gone on the ride themselves, leaving the buggy - and the baby - behind. Although some users tried to defend the decision, saying that they're sure it was 'fine', the majority were appalled. One wrote: 'Will never understand why they take the child who's too young for the rides (or kids under a certain age) if they don't have enough adults to stay with the younger ones and leave their kids in crowded environments just so they can selfishly go on the rides.' A second added: 'Not only would the baby be incredibly scared waking up to not see its parents, not being funny but someone could literally push that stroller away with the baby in it and I don't even wanna think of what could happen after that. 'These parents shouldn't have a baby if they can't look after one end of the [day].' While a third said: 'I bring my baby to the bathroom in my house cause I panic she's gonna wake up and panic. Seeing this just made me so sad.' Experience the Best of British thrills by exploring the top theme parks across the UK However, some also pointed the finger at onlookers and wrote: 'To be fair everyone walking past the child is also at fault here. 'If everyone could see the child had been left alone…why did no one actually step in and help by alerting a staff member.' The park's official guidelines clearly state that children must be supervised at all times. Brit parents bugbear As families across the UK embark on summer outings, a new poll reveals the top frustrations that can turn a daytrip dream into a nightmare. According to a survey of 1,000 parents with school-aged children, the biggest gripes include dive-bombing seagulls, gritty sandy sandwiches, and persistent, buzzing wasps determined to join every picnic. Other common annoyances cited by parents range from being stuck in sweltering traffic to lugging around heavy cool-boxes and enduring seemingly endless queues. These perennial problems are making a significant number of parents rethink their holiday plans, with 32 per cent admitting they'd prefer to spend more time relaxing at home during the school break. 2 How to survive six weeks of school summer holidays IF you are struggling with the six week summer holidays, you've come to the right place... BATTLING BOREDOM: Despite hours of activities and playdates, if your kids are already complaining there's nothing to do, parenting expert Liat Hughes Joshi says: 'Don't feel you have to organise every second of the holidays. Kids benefit from boredom and learn to make their own fun. 'Boredom can trigger creative and imaginative play but you need to encourage kids to get used to not being told how to spend their time. 'Ride out the pleas of boredom. Counter it with comments such as, 'What do you think you could do?' and maybe have a list of 'I'm bored' activity ideas on the fridge.' SCREEN OVERLOAD: It's tempting during the holidays to rely on a digital babysitter but don't let them gawp their whole summer away in front of a screen. Liat says: 'It's unfair to expect older kids to power down but it's important to set some ground rules. 'Set family tech rules together. If you're often distracted by your phone, follow the rules too. Maybe tell the kids they aren't allowed any screen time until they've done set chores, some exercise, or a board game. 'Are there times when you'd like to ban screens completely? Perhaps during dinner or when they have friends over to visit. 'Tech is a battleground for parents, but you have to set boundaries. Stand firm and be prepared to be unpopular.' TOO MUCH TOGETHERNESS: You love your kids, but being with them 24/7 can be exhausting. Do not feel guilty if you need a bit of downtime. Liat says: 'If you're juggling work and household tasks as well as occupying the kids, it's normal to start feeling overwhelmed or jaded and in need of some peace. 'If you can't afford or don't want to send your kids to all-day camps, look for free kids' workshops so you can get on with jobs or have a break for a couple of hours. 'Seeking a spell of quiet every now and then doesn't make you a bad parent — in fact it will probably make you more positive and enthusiastic when you are with the kids.' SCHEDULING CONFLICT: Schedules can go out the window during holidays, but late nights and early mornings can mean tired and unhappy children. Dr Tamara Bugembe, paediatrician and founder of says: 'Children get grumpy, test boundaries and become challenging when routines are broken. 'Sticking to some kind of routine during the holidays is a good idea. 'We release hormones at different times of the day and when regular meal times and bed times are broken, it causes dips and peaks in mood. 'Holidays are about having fun but an early night once or twice a week will make everyone happier.' EXCESS ENERGY: Make sure kids get out in the fresh air to tire them out — and make them healthier and happier. Dr Bugembe says: 'Sunshine also tops up vital vitamin D levels which helps improve bone strength and energy levels in children. Our levels run low in winter so let the kids stock up in warmer weather. 'Letting them run around in shorts and a T-shirt is the best way to top up. Make sure they're wearing sun cream, get outside and have fun. 'Encourage them to try healthy habits such as cycling and walking. They'll hopefully get hooked and want to carry them on when the weather gets colder.' Despite nearly half of parents (47 per cent) feeling the pressure from social media to orchestrate jam-packed, adventurous excursions, a substantial 79 per cent recognise the immense value of staying home. They see it as a prime opportunity to truly reconnect with their children after the whirlwind of the school year. The study further reveals a significant shift in parental preference, with 45 per cent of those surveyed claiming some of their most cherished days are spent with their children right in the comfort of their own home. This home-centric approach offers a noticeable reduction in stress for 33 per cent of parents, contributing to more relaxed days. Additionally, 14 per cent appreciate the opportunity to host playdates for their children's friends, fostering social connections in a familiar environment. And, perhaps most appealing for many, 24 per cent value the simple pleasure of being able to put their feet up on the sofa and unwind for a while. Where can kids eat for free this summer?
