JPJ seizes 10 luxury cars in Negeri Sembilan for expired road tax, insurance
SEREMBAN (Aug 8): The Negeri Sembilan Road Transport Department (JPJ) has seized 10 luxury vehicles, including a Porsche Taycan, Toyota Alphard and Mini Cooper Countryman, following the owners' failure to renew their road tax and insurance from January until early this month.
State JPJ director Hanif Yusabra Yusof said some of the cars, worth hundreds of thousands of ringgit, had not had their road tax and insurance renewed for almost two years.
'Among the owners are businesspeople. If they comply with all the regulations, the vehicles will be returned. The excuse given was that they 'forgot' to renew the road tax and insurance.
'Such excuses are unacceptable. All the vehicles have been sent to the state JPJ depot for further investigation under the Road Transport Act 1987 and relevant regulations,' he told reporters here today.
According to him, the main offences that led to the seizure were under Section 23(1), Section 26(1) and Section 90(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
He said such behaviour posed a serious risk to public well-being, as victims of accidents involving uninsured vehicles would face problems regarding claims for compensation and damage.
'If we can afford to own a vehicle, we must take responsibility for its insurance and road tax. We cannot be negligent,' he said.
He added that based on state JPJ enforcement records from January to July, there were 10,435 offences related to the Motor Vehicle Licence and 7,891 cases involving lack of insurance. – Bernama lead luxury vehicles road tax Road Transport Department

The case is being investigated under Section 42(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987, which carries a jail term of up to five years and a maximum fine of RM15,000 upon conviction. He added that district traffic enforcement will continue operations to crack down on street racers who persist in causing danger and nuisance to road users and residents. Meanwhile, in an unrelated incident, Kumarasan said two men were killed in separate motorcycle crashes last night and early this morning. In the first accident at 8.30pm yesterday, a 20-year-old motorcyclist rammed into the rear of a 4x4, along Jalan Nusa Perintis towards Nusantara here. The victim suffered injuries to his right arm and internal injuries and was pronounced dead at the the second case, at 3am, another motorcyclist was killed in an accident on Lebuh Nusajaya heading towards Gelang Patah. "The 20-year-old motorcyclist had moved to the right lane to make a U-turn when he was hit from behind by a car, which was travelling straight in the same lane. "The victim was flung onto the car's windscreen and died on the spot from severe head injuries," he said. Kumarasan urged witnesses to contact the Iskandar Puteri District Traffic Enforcement and Investigation Division at 07-5101322.

ALOR SETAR, Aug 10 — The Road Transport Department (JPJ) has expressed hope that more school students from the B40 group will join phase two of the MyLesen B2 programme, which allows them to obtain a free motorcycle licence. JPJ director-general Datuk Aedy Fadly Ramli said this aligns with the 10,000 new spots under the initiative recently announced by Transport Minister Anthony Loke. '…we are targeting to help more underprivileged secondary school students aged 16 and above obtain their motorcycle licence so that they can ride to school. 'JPJ, the Ministry of Education and state education departments have reviewed several matters to expand the MyLesen B2 programme to the school level,' he told reporters at the handover ceremony of the MyLesen B2 driving licence for Kedah state here today. 'I hope the government will consider JPJ's request to increase the allocation for the MyLesen B2 programme next year, as it has received an overwhelming response,' he said, adding that the programme would also ensure better compliance with road traffic laws. The government allocated 15,000 spots for the free motorcycle licence under phase one of the programme, which began in February. The MyLesen B2 programme is an initiative to help the B40 group obtain a free Class B2 of the Malaysian Driving Licence (LLM), as part of efforts to enhance mobility, employment opportunities, and road safety. Meanwhile, Aedly Fadly said that only the government can decide to lower the minimum age for obtaining a driving licence below 16, adding that thorough preparations and discussions are necessary before it can be introduced. Johor cops detain four bikers for reckless riding in Iskandar Puteri
ISKANDAR PUTERI: Police have arrested four local men for performing dangerous stunts on motorcycles, including 'Superman' poses, during an early morning patrol near the Second Link Expressway. Iskandar Puteri OCPD Asst Comm M. Kumarasan said the suspects, aged between 18 and 25, were detained early Sunday morning (Aug 10) between KM15J and KM12.9J of the expressway heading towards Gelang Patah. 'They were riding without regard for their own safety and that of other road users,' he said, adding that the case is being investigated under Section 42(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987. ACP Kumarasan said police would continue to step up operations and take stern action against stubborn road bullies and illegal racers who endanger others. He also reminded teenagers to stay away from such immoral activities or risk facing the full brunt of the law. 'Parents and guardians must monitor their children's movements, especially those going out at night on motorcycles. Don't wait until it's too late to regret,' he said. In an unrelated matter, ACP Kumarasan confirmed two unrelated fatal accidents that claimed the lives of two 20-year-old local men. ACP Kumarasan added that both cases are being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for causing death by reckless or dangerous driving.
