The win gave the Cardinals (19-6) their third consecutive state championship, and marked their second-straight year topping Tyngsborough in the final.
'This definitely was the hardest of the three [to win],' said Case coach Shannon Silva. 'This entire season was a grind. We had some young players fill some important roles this year, and it took a little bit to figure it out . . . today's game, with a freshman coming up with a game-winning home run, it's just a testament to them never giving up.'

Fresh off a one-hit gem in Thursday's semifinal win over Hampshire, Case sophomore Lila Alvarez allowed four earned runs and stuck out 12 against the talented Tigers (20-5).
Tyngsborough opened the scoring in the second on junior Kaelyn DiMento's two-out, two-RBI single, and went back in front 3-2 in the fourth on sophomore Carly Smith's solo home run.
But each time the Tigers punched, the Case offense answered against Hogan, a junior committed to Boston University.

With two outs in the fourth, Cardinals senior Breanna Fontes gave Case a 4-3 lead with a two-run single to center. Two pitches later, junior Meghan Pereira doubled to bring Fontes home and put the Cardinals ahead, 5-3.
'The thing about our team that is so extremely special, is we are never down,' Fontes said. 'You can never count us out, no matter how bad we are playing or how bad you think we are. We are always about to come back.'

Down by two runs in the seventh, Tyngsborough freshman Adrianna Arsenault narrowed the gap with a two-out RBI to make it 7-6.
But with the championship hanging in the balance, Alvarez induced a groundout to DeJesus at shortstop to end it with a runner in scoring position.
'It felt great to come through for my team and pick them up throughout the game,' DeJesus said. 'We just all worked so hard for this.'

Aaron Rodgers to NFC West rival LA Rams was 'a possibility' this offseason
Aaron Rodgers to NFC West rival LA Rams was 'a possibility' this offseason The Rams' top priority was to make sure Matthew Stafford returned in 2025, but if he didn't, Aaron Rodgers was possible. The Los Angeles Rams kept quarterback Matthew Stafford on their team for 2025, agreeing to a new contract with the veteran. Aaron Rodgers signed with the Pittsburgh Steelers. However, for just a little it, there was a shot that Rodgers could have ended up in the NFC West, where the Arizona Cardinals would have to face him twice. Rams head coach Sean McVay told NFL Network's Kyle Brandt this past week during OTAs that pursuing Rodgers was "a possibility." A report came up in the offseason about Rodgers' possible interest in playing for the Rams. The thought of Rodgers was a sort of contingency plan had they not been able to re-sign Stafford. 'Our first priority, which was consistently communicated, was, 'Hey, let's work out something with Matthew,' and we were very fortunate that it worked out that way,' McVay said. 'If that wasn't able to occur, then that [Rodgers] was definitely — conversations and a possibility for us." Could you have imagined how much more interesting the NFC West would have become? The distraction would not be an issue for the Cardinals, and it would have meant Rodgers returns to State Farm Stadium, where he has not fared well. Instead, Stafford returns and Rodgers is in Pittsburgh. The Cardinals won't face him and will have to find a way to get the best of Stafford, who is 9-2-1 in his last 12 appearances against them, including in the postseason. LA Rams news: Aaron Rodgers, joint practice and more stories for Cardinals fans to know
LA Rams news: Aaron Rodgers, joint practice and more stories for Cardinals fans to know Checking in on the NFC West with a few stories from the last week for Cardinals fans to know about the division rival Rams. We have made it through another week of the offseason, now 12 weeks from Week 1. It is time to check in with the rest of the NFC West and see what is happening with the Arizona Cardinals' division rivals — the Los Angeles Rams, San Francisco 49ers and Seattle Seahawks. What has been going on with the Rams? Below are some stories from the last week about them that Cardinals fans should know. Rams considered getting Aaron Rodgers The Rams got Matthew Stafford to agree to a new contract, but because there was the possibility that he left, the Rams considered other options. Had he gone elsewhere, they were prepared to pursue Rodgers, who signed with the Pittsburgh Steelers. Joint practice scheduled The Cardinals have a joint practice with the Denver Broncos in the second week of the preseason. The Rams will hold a joint practice with the Dallas Cowboys in Oxnard, CA leading up to their preseason opener at home. Starting LT has health issues The Rams signed former Cardinals first-round pick D.J. Humphries this week and it was for a good reason. Starting left tackle Alaric Jackson is dealing with blood clots for the second time in his career. His status for this season is a little in the air now. OTAs takeaways The Rams concluded voluntary OTAs last week. Among the takeaways from their voluntary work, CB Emmanuel Forbes is bigger, DL LBraden Fiske's knee is fine and RB Kyren Williams is working on a new contract with the team. Rams save millions in cap-saving move The Rams cut ties with cornerback Derion Kendrick. He missed all last season with a torn ACL. The move saves the Rams more than $3 million in cap space. Dodgers Issued Caution on Top Target at MLB Trade Deadline
Dodgers Issued Caution on Top Target at MLB Trade Deadline originally appeared on Athlon Sports. The Los Angeles Dodgers will be buyers at the trade deadline. There's no question about that, as Andrew Friedman has continued to prove throughout his time in Los Angeles that he'll do anything he can to win a World Series. Advertisement After the moves and Dodgers made at the deadline a year ago, he also understands how to evaluate under-the-radar talent, something that every team in Major League Baseball would love to have out of an executive. One name that has continued to pop up for the Dodgers is Erick Fedde of the St. Louis Cardinals. The right-hander has shown to have above-average stuff throughout his career and has been great this year, posting a 3.65 ERA. Andrew Friedman, President of baseball operations, speaks during an introductory press conference for Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher Roki Sasaki (11) at Dodger Kamin-Oncea-Imagn Images Despite that, Cody Williams recently urged the Dodgers to be cautious about his stuff, adding that they need to be careful in any trade for the Cardinals veteran because he isn't as good as his numbers show. Advertisement "Fedde has continued to be solid with his overall numbers, posting a 3.54 ERA (second best in the Cardinals rotation) with a 1.30 WHIP. What jumps off the page with Baseball Savant, however, is that he's sitting with an expected ERA at 5.28 this season, 1.74 points higher than the actual mark. "With the contact he's giving up and the situations he's found himself in, he's simply not been as good as his current ERA would suggest. His stuff likely isn't going to tick up meaningfully to change that, which means any team pursuing him should expect him to not be as strongly impactful as he has been. Buyers that should beware: Boston Red Sox, Cleveland Guardians, Los Angeles Dodgers," he wrote. Depending on the role the Dodgers would plan to use him in, and the package they'd have to give up, it could make sense to trade for him. However, to say that Fedde has been an ace throughout his career would be unfair; in that regard, the Dodgers do need to be cautious.
