NFL star sued for $1 million over parking lot shooting

Independent12-04-2025

An NFL star is being sued for $1 million over a parking lot shooting where a victim claims he was shot at while sitting inside a Mercedes-Benz.
Christian Nshimiyimana was sitting inside the Mercedes-Benz G-Wagon at a car dealership on Dec. 6 in Carrollton, Texas. Neither he nor anyone else was hit by bullets fired from a Lamborghini Urus driving past One Legacy Motors. He claims that Tennessee Titans cornerback L'Jarius Sneed or his personal assistant shot at him.
Much of what happened is redacted in the police report obtained by The Associated Press.
Attorney Levi McCathern said in a statement Friday that Sneed and his accomplice were arrested by the Carrollton Police Department for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon after the shooting but have yet to answer for it. McCathern also accused Sneed and a woman who identified herself as Sneed's mother of calling and threatening Nshimiyimana afterward, wanting him to not cooperate with police or retain an attorney.
'The proof is there,' McCathern said. 'There is video surveillance from the dealership showing the car and the person who opened fire on Christian. We want to know why this happened. We're thankful no one was shot, but we continue to search for the reason behind this incident.'
Neither agents for Sneed nor the Tennessee Titans immediately responded to the AP's emails and messages for comment.
Nshimiyimana filed a civil lawsuit Feb. 20 in Dallas County, Texas, suing Sneed and a defendant listed as 'John Doe' for 'an unprovoked attack in cold blood and broad daylight.' Nshimiyimana, 23, owns an exotic car rental business and was researching vehicles for his company. The lawsuit includes a still photo from surveillance video showing an arm reaching out of a sport-utility vehicle on the street with what the lawsuit describes as a pistol circled in red.
According to the lawsuit, Nshimiyimana remembers seeing Sneed and his assistant at the car dealership but didn't recognize Sneed from his NFL career or television. Nshimiyimana also does not recall ever meeting Sneed before that day. The lawsuit notes the defendants may have mistaken Nshimiyimana for someone else.
'Regardless, the unprovoked aggravated assault of my client with a deadly weapon is part of a pattern of behavior for Mr. Sneed, and he must be held responsible for his actions so they do not happen again,' McCathern said.
The Titans traded for Sneed last March and made him one of the NFL's highest-paid cornerbacks with a new contract. Sneed played the first five games before a quadriceps injury eventually landed him on injured reserve. Sneed was a fourth-round draft pick out of Louisiana Tech in 2020 by Kansas City winning back-to-back Super Bowls with the Chiefs in 2022 and 2023.
McCathern said they got no response when they previously reached out to the Titans.
'It is clear that the Titans manage their players off the field just as they do on the field. No wonder they were the worst team in the NFL last year,' McCathern said of the team that holds the No. 1 overall pick in the NFL draft on April 24.

Cowboys draft bust Kelvin Joseph is released on bond after DUI arrest and 'confessing to role in fatal crash'

Former Dallas Cowboys second-round draft pick Kelvin Joseph Jr. has been released on a $26,000 bond from a Texas jail after allegedly confessing to his role in a traffic collision that killed a motorcyclist early Saturday morning. The 25-year-old cornerback was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated and collision involving personal injury or death after a crash that killed 27-year-old Cody Morris of Plano, Texas. Richardson Police Department responded to a report of a fatal motorcycle crash at 4:50am on Saturday. Within an hour, Richardson PD said Joseph called to say he was involved in the crash that killed Morris. When police encountered Joseph, they said they 'observed signs of intoxication,' leading to his arrest, according to a press release. Joseph was believed to be traveling northbound on North Central Expressway in a BMW sedan when he collided with the motorcycle. Morris was a married mother of two who was said to be an avid motorcyclist. A Baton Rouge native, Joseph began his college career with his hometown LSU Tigers before transferring to Kentucky and being picked by the Cowboys in the second round of the 2021 NFL Draft. After an uninspiring season in Dallas, Joseph was traded to the Miami Dolphins but appeared in only four games as a backup before being released in November of 2023. He would go on to sign practice squad deals with the Seattle Seahawks, Kansas City Chiefs, Indianapolis Colts and Minnesota Vikings before joining the upstart United Football League in February. A UFL spokesman responded to the arrest in a statement provided to Daily Mail: 'We are aware of the incident and are gathering information. We have no further comment at this time.' Back in April 2022, Dallas police spoke with the then-Cowboys star as a 'person of interest' in their investigation over a fatal shooting that had occurred at a Lower Greenville nightclub the month prior. After he met with investigators, he was eventually cleared of all charges while two other suspects were arrested.

BREAKING NEWS Shock details of NFL star's violent struggle in police custody emerge amid 'overzealous policing' claims

New shocking details into the early Saturday morning arrest of former NFL star Adam 'Pacman' Jones have been revealed, including a violent struggle in police custody amid 'overzealous policing' claims. Jones reportedly 'intentionally' threw an elbow a police officers face during his detainment at the Kenton County Detention Center in Covington, Kentucky, just before 2am local time. The alleged strike was thrown a round an hour after Jones was arrested for alleged public drunkenness. Jones' arrest was first publicized on Saturday, with the shocking new details appearing in new court documentation, per TMZ. The 41-year-old Jones, who played 13 seasons in the NFL, was detained on multiple charges, including third-degree assault on a police officer, public intoxication, and second-degree disorderly conduct. He was released at around 11:30am after posting a $10,000 bond. Jones is due back in court on Wednesday. The agent for Jones has accused Northern Kentucky of abusing their authority and declared his client's innocence after the former Bengals cornerback was arrested in the Cincinnati suburb. 'The recent arrest of Adam "Pacman" Jones in Covington, Kentucky, is yet another example of overzealous policing and the systemic issues that plague our justice system,' began the statement from agent Peter Schaffer. 'Adam did nothing wrong other than exercise his right to ask why he was being detained - a fundamental question that every citizen should be allowed to ask without fear of retaliation.'

Report: Texans work out former Raider Damon Arnette Jr.

June 9 - The Houston Texans worked out former first-round pick Damon Arnette Jr., who has not played in the NFL since legal problems derailed his career in 2022. KPRC2 reported that Arnette worked out for the Texans on Monday ahead of the team's minicamp. The Texans are searching for secondary depth. The recent retirement of veteran cornerback Ronald Darby created uncertainty on the depth chart. Arnette, 28, was selected No. 19 overall by the Las Vegas Raiders in the 2020 draft. He played in 13 games (seven starts) before Arnette was hit with felony gun charges stemming from an incident at a Las Vegas casino in January 2022. Arnette was accused of brandishing a .45-caliber handgun during an argument with casino valets. Arnette was sentenced to community service and fined $2,000 in August 2023 after agreeing to a plea deal. The Raiders released Arnette in November 2021 amid two lawsuits and a troubling video posted by the defensive back. The video showed Arnette repeatedly threatening to kill someone while brandishing what appeared to be semi-automatic weapons. The Kansas City Chiefs, who had signed Arnette to a reserve contract, released him after the arrest at the casino. Arnette most recently played for the Houston Roughnecks of the UFL, racking up 18 tackles and an interception last season. Injuries limited Arnette to 13 games (seven starts) in his one-plus seasons with the Raiders. He didn't record any interceptions and had 29 tackles. --Field Level Media
