Time of Indiaa day ago
Next 100x crypto is the gold standard headline for serious crypto hunters this week. The buzz began after analysts highlighted emerging low-cap tokens with strong utility and growing communities as prime picks for that kind of explosive surge. That teaser of potential 100x returns echoes Dogecoin's historic climb but calls for more substance than memes.
Yet amid all the hype, one quietly robust contender is building its case not on flash but on real use, global reach, and secure design. As wallets and fiat-friendly rails begin to appear, its appeal grows.
Crypto Spotlight: Dogecoin's Tech Upgrade Sparks Fresh Hype
Dogecoin's latest buzz involves a proposed upgrade dubbed OP_CHECKZKP, which would enable zk-rollup scalability via layer-2 moves . The aim is to boost speed and lower costs traits vital for broader meme-coin use beyond speculation.
Still, DOGE remains volatile. Markets saw an 18% drop in meme coins, including Dogecoin. Yet analysts remain hopeful, seeing that Dogecoin has successfully held the support at $0.198, and is now heading toward the first target zone at $0.31–$0.35. Experts say that if it manages to break through that level, the next target is $0.58–$0.59.

US court allows DOGE access to Education Department data: Here's how it impacts students

A recent ruling by a federal appeals court has significant implications for students across the United States. On August 12, 2025, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 4th Circuit in Richmond, Virginia, overturned a preliminary injunction that had previously blocked the Department of Government Efficiency, or DOGE, from accessing sensitive records at the U.S. Department of Education, as well as the Treasury Department and the Office of Personnel Management. The decision restores DOGE's access to federal databases while the broader legal challenge continues. What is DOGE and why does it matter for students? DOGE was established under the Trump administration to improve efficiency across federal agencies. The office, closely associated with Elon Musk, who served as an informal adviser to former President Trump, has employees embedded in multiple agencies to review operations and data. Although Musk stepped down from his White House role in May 2025, DOGE continues its work. According to the EdWeek , the American Federation of Teachers, along with other unions and individuals, had challenged DOGE's access, arguing that it violated the Privacy Act of 1974 and placed sensitive data at risk. Specifically, the lawsuit noted DOGE employees accessed the Student Loan Data System, which contains records of approximately 43 million Americans, including teachers. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like When Knee Pain Hits, Start Eating These Foods, and Feel Your Pain Go Away (It's Genius) Click Here Undo The suit did not allege that K-12 student records were accessed. The court's reasoning In its 2-1 decision, the 4th Circuit cited procedural issues with the lawsuit and indicated that the plaintiffs would likely have difficulty proving a violation of the Privacy Act. According to the EdWeek, Judge Julius N. Richardson, a Trump appointee, wrote that DOGE employees are tasked with a broad duty to improve agency efficiency and would find it challenging to know what needs reform without reviewing the data. Judge Richardson further noted that 'each plaintiff's information is one row in various databases that are millions upon millions of rows long,' suggesting that the potential harm from granting access to a handful of government employees differs in kind from the risks posed by reporters, investigators, or paparazzi. The majority also referenced a U.S. Supreme Court order in June that allowed DOGE employees access to Social Security Administration files, which similarly faced privacy concerns. According to the EdWeek , Richardson stated, 'This case and that one are exceedingly similar'. In dissent, Judge Robert B. King, a Clinton appointee, argued that the district court had provided a thorough analysis demonstrating the plaintiffs were likely to succeed on the merits of their Privacy Act claim. He described DOGE's access as 'sudden, unfettered, unprecedented, and apparently unnecessary' and emphasised the sensitivity of the personal information involved. Implications for students For students, this ruling highlights the ongoing tension between government efficiency initiatives and the safeguarding of personal data. While K-12 records were not part of the lawsuit, the ruling still involves access to large federal education databases, which could include higher education loan records and other student-related information. It underscores the need for students and educators to remain aware of how personal data is accessed and managed at the federal level. The case is not yet fully resolved. The full 4th Circuit is expected to examine the broader implications of DOGE's access in the Social Security Administration case in September, which may provide further clarity on the limits and oversight of such government data initiatives. As legal proceedings continue, students and education stakeholders may see changes in how government offices access and use sensitive educational and personal data, making this a topic worth monitoring closely. Solana's SOL Vs. Little Pepe's LILPEPE: Here's the top coin for short-term investors looking to make a quick buck

Solana (SOL) and Little Pepe, a meme coin, are attracting short-term profit-seeking investors in the cryptocurrency market. LILPEPE, a high-velocity, low-cost meme coin created on its own Layer 2 chain, is making headlines while Solana remains one of the most established cryptocurrencies. This thorough dive into both competitors and which may be the most imaginative play for those hoping to make a quick buck before the 2025 bull run peaks. Solana (SOL): Blue-Chip Altcoin with High Liquidity Investors wanting exposure to a quick and scalable Layer 1 blockchain should choose Solana, with a market value of over $87 billion and a trading price of $162.07. Solana is listed on all major exchanges and has over 538 million SOL in circulation and $4 billion in daily trade activity. It powers DeFi apps and NFT marketplaces with its lightning-fast transaction throughput and minimal fees. The days of 10x gains in weeks are likely behind SOL because to its magnitude. Swing traders still earn from price variations of 1%–5%, but the parabolic growth of 2021 now demands huge capital. However, many portfolios include Solana for its long-term durability. Without leveraged positions, short-term traders cannot make exponential gains. Little Pepe (LILPEPE): The Meme Coin Rocket Fueling Explosive Gains Enter Little Pepe, or $LILPEPE, the latest meme coin stealing the spotlight. Priced at just $0.0018 in its ongoing presale, LILPEPE is attracting thousands of early adopters with its fast-selling tokens, meme-powered narrative, and cutting-edge tech stack. Built on a newly developed Layer 2 Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM), Little Pepe's chain is explicitly optimized for meme coins, offering ultra-low fees, high-speed finality, and protection against sniper bots, something even Solana doesn't address directly. Currently in Stage 9 of its presale, LILPEPE has raised over $15.7 million, with more than 98% of tokens sold. Investors are scrambling to buy in before the price rises to $0.0019 in the next stage. With a listing price of $0.003, the potential for early contributors to nearly double their money before hitting the open market is very real — and that's before any exchange-fueled rally. What makes LILPEPE truly stand out is its meme-centric Launchpad, designed to incubate and launch future viral tokens on the Little Pepe chain, turning the chain itself into a self-sustaining meme ecosystem. Combine this with no transaction taxes, anti-rug pull safeguards, and a community-first ethos. Short-Term Gains: Which One Wins? When it comes to short-term gains, Little Pepe edges out Solana in both upside potential and price accessibility. Solana may offer consistent performance and security, but LILPEPE provides the kind of asymmetric upside that early DOGE or SHIB investors enjoyed, the kind that turns small amounts into life-changing returns. With just $600, an investor can buy approximately 333,000 LILPEPE tokens at the current presale rate. If LILPEPE hits even $0.01, that would turn into over $3,000, and if it follows the SHIB/DOGE path to $0.05 or more, you're looking at potential returns of 5x to 20x in under a year. Compare that to Solana, where $600 would buy less than four SOL, which would need to hit $400+ to achieve similar returns. How to Get in on the LILPEPE Presale Investing in LILPEPE during its presale is easy. First, visit the official website and connect your wallet (MetaMask or Trust Wallet recommended). Ensure you have ETH or USDT to purchase, and choose your preferred token amount directly from the dashboard. Once the Ethereum network confirms the transaction, your LILPEPE tokens will appear in the presale dashboard, ready to be claimed after the sale ends. For those without crypto, you can also use fiat payment options like Ramp, MoonPay, or Transak to buy ETH with your card and then use it to invest in LILPEPE. Hurry, LILPEPE is 98% sold out, and prices will increase in the next stage. Join the moon mission today at and secure your spot in what could be 2025's most explosive meme coin launch. Conclusion: LILPEPE is the Better Bet for Quick Profits Solana is still a solid project, and perhaps even a safer one, but short-term investors looking for fast flips and viral momentum are likely to find more fertile ground with Little Pepe. Backed by Layer 2 innovation, a thriving meme ecosystem, and a rapidly growing community, LILPEPE could be the meme coin breakout of the year. Whether you're chasing that next 10x opportunity or simply looking for a cheaper entry into the meme coin frenzy, Little Pepe is the name to watch. US July layoffs soar to highest since 2020 as AI and budget cuts hit jobs

Layoffs in the US rose sharply in July, reaching their highest level since the early months of the COVID-19 pandemic. Federal job losses hit 292,294 this year as Trump's DOGE cuts agency staff.(Pexel) Outplacement firm Challenger, Gray & Christmas reported 62,075 job cuts last month, up 29 percent from June and 140 percent higher than the 25,885 recorded in July 2024. The figure is well above the post-pandemic average for the month of 23,584 between 2021 and 2024, and slightly higher than the past decade's July average of 60,398. It brings total layoffs this year to 806,383, a 75 percent rise on the same period in 2024 and already 6 percent higher than the full-year total for last year. It is the highest January-to-July figure since 2020, when pandemic shutdowns pushed layoffs above 1.8 million. The increase is driven by government downsizing, corporate restructuring and the growing impact of artificial intelligence. Public agencies, tech companies and retailers are leading the cuts. "We are seeing the federal budget cuts implemented by DOGE impact nonprofits and health care in addition to the government. AI was cited for over 10,000 cuts last month, and tariff concerns have impacted nearly 6,000 jobs this year," said Andrew Challenger, senior vice president at the firm. Federal government job losses total 292,294 so far this year, as President Donald Trump's Department of Government Efficiency continues to reduce the size of multiple agencies. The cuts have also hit contractors and organisations reliant on public funding, described in the report as the "DOGE Downstream Impact". Why are tech and retail cutting the most jobs in 2025? In the private sector, technology and telecom companies are cutting staff as they focus investment on AI and cloud services. Retailers are reducing headcount due to weaker consumer spending, higher costs and shifting buying habits. Finance, business services and transport have also seen above-average cuts, with firms scaling back capacity after pandemic-era growth. Inflation, changes in demand and global uncertainty have been cited in more than 170,000 job losses this year. Restructuring, closures and bankruptcies have also been key factors. Fabian Stephany, assistant professor for AI and work at the University of Oxford, said the current trend reflected "late-cycle cost discipline and post-pandemic normalization" rather than a full-scale jobs crisis. "Many firms are correcting for the overhiring of 2021 to 2022 while protecting margins through productivity gains, some of which are enabled by automation," he said. AI have been linked to over 20,000 layoffs Automation and AI have been linked to over 20,000 layoffs this year, including 10,000 directly attributed to AI. Stephany said the technology's effects were most visible in 'transactional, routine, and standardised work—particularly in junior roles.' Also Read: Indian-American coder's only job offer comes from Chipotle as AI reshapes tech hiring Jason Leverant, COO and president of AtWork Group, said automation mainly affects jobs that are "dull, dirty or dangerous". He noted that many white-collar roles in the "dull" category are already being replaced by AI tools. Both Leverant and Stephany expect AI to keep reshaping the job market, but see changes happening gradually through attrition and slower hiring rather than sudden mass layoffs. Unemployment remains in the low 4 percent range, suggesting many people are finding new roles. But Leverant warned some, especially in middle-management and specialist jobs, may face longer periods out of work. If cuts continue at the current rate, unemployment could rise later this year. He added that while the focus of layoffs in the public sector gave him some confidence in private sector hiring, "if job cuts continue and the unemployment rate rises, it will only spark further concern, uncertainty, and potential volatility in the markets, creating a vicious cycle that we need to break."
