Babulal sheds crocodile tears for tribal land owners, says JMM
Ranchi: JMM general secretary Supriyo Bhattacharya on Sunday accused the leader of the opposition and state BJP president Babulal Marandi of shedding crocodile tears for tribal raiyyats (landowners), who are opposing land acquisition for second campus of the Rajendra Institute of Medical Science (Rims) in Nagri area under the Kanke block.
Speaking to media persons on Sunday, Bhattacharya said during Marandi's tenure as chief minister, police firing incidents took place during which people protesting against land acquisitions for projects in Tapkara in Khunti and Neterhaat in Latehar were fired upon. Marandi should apologise for the incidents, the JMM leader said.
Notably, Marandi visited Nagri on Saturday and met people, who were opposing Rims-2 in their area.
Marandi alleged that the state govt wanted to displace tribals from their agricultural land but he would not allow the acquisition of even an inch without approval of the gram sabha in the villages.
Reacting to Marandi's visit and statement, Bhattacharya said so far, the state govt has not issued any notification regarding the place where the new hospital would be built and according to the plan, the new hospital should come up along the ring road.
He also claimed that Marandi is raising the issues to serve the interest of one Sunil Sahu. "Details will be provided later on," the JMM leader said.
Bhattacharya also said Marandi as the first CM of Jharkhand, adopted the Bihar rules for administering the state which was against the vision of separate Jharkhand for preventing exploitation and protection of tribal identity and rights. He also said during that period, the opposition had demanded the framing of the state's own rules for protecting the tribal land, but Marandi ignored it.
"There is a provision in the Land Acquisition and Reform Act 2013 which states that any acquired land not used for five years should be returned to the raiyyats. Marandi must request the BJP-led central govt to return the surplus land of Steel Authority of India Limited, Coal India Limited and Heavy Engineering Corporation in the state," Bhattacharya said. He also took potshots at Marandi saying that when BJP national president and Union health minister J P Nadda called the state's health minister Irfan Ansari for discussions on improving the health facilities in Jharkhand, the state BJP president felt bad about it as he was ignored.

Vijayendra likens Karnataka govt to Tughlaq rule
Bengaluru, June 3 (UNI) Karnataka BJP president Vijayendra Yediyurappa on Tuesday launched a fierce attack on the Congress-led state government, accusing it of running a "Tughlaq-style administration" that is dismantling democracy and suppressing dissent, particularly in Dakshina Kannada and other coastal districts. Speaking to reporters here, Vijayendra said, "The government's actions are completely destroying law and order in the coastal belt. If, instead of taking corrective steps, it continues to use the police like goons, the BJP will not sit with its hands tied." He stated that he had already discussed the issue with national BJP leaders on Monday night, and that a delegation comprising party MPs and MLAs would meet senior police officials to raise concerns about police excesses. Reacting strongly to the recent externment orders against Sangh Parivar leaders in Dakshina Kannada, Vijayendra likened the current Congress regime to medieval feudal rule. 'Once upon a time, kings and landlords ruled arbitrarily. Today, the Siddaramaiah-led government is running a Tughlaq-style administration that is suppressing democracy and harassing nationalists,' he said. The BJP leader further alleged that the government was diverting attention from its developmental failures by targeting Hindu activists. 'People across the state are angry about the lack of progress. Instead of addressing these issues, this government is resorting to shameful acts and conspiracies to defame and insult Hindu leaders,' he said. UNI BDN PRS

"BJP will not sit idle with hands tied back": BJP Karnataka President lashes out at Siddaramiah govt
Bengaluru (Karnataka) [India], June 3 (ANI): Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Karnataka President and MLA B.Y. Vijayendra on Tuesday lashed out at the Congress led state government and stated that the BJP would not sit idly with their hands tied back if the state government would resort to using police like goons. Actions were destroying the law and order in Dakshin Kannada and other coastal regions. He further stated that the actions of the government were destroying law and order in Dakshin Kannada and other coastal regions. Speaking to the media today, he said, 'I discussed this issue with national leaders last night. Today, our MPs and MLAs will meet senior police officials.' Responding to a question about the deportation of several people in Dakshina Kannada district, he said, 'Once upon a time, kings ruled this country. We've heard of feudal lords back then. The current Congress government is running the state like those feudal lords. The Siddaramaiah-led government is running a Tughlaq-style administration that suppresses democracy.' He continued, 'Look at the shameful behaviour of this Congress government in recent months. At a time when people are expressing outrage over the lack of development in the state, the government is trying to cover up its failures through such incidents. It is also conspiring to insult Hindu activists.' He alleged that during the murder of Suhas, some evil forces prevented the Home Minister from visiting Suhas' house. He further questioned what action had been taken against women who were allegedly involved in the murder of Suhas Shetty. 'Three to four women stood on the road, helped the murderers and traitors get into a car, and escape,' he said. 'What has been done about this? Have they been arrested?' he asked. 'We no longer believe that there is an elected government or that police are maintaining law and order in our state. Meanwhile, an FIR has been filed against senior Sangh Parivar leaders. This is a conspiracy to threaten Hindu leaders and activists. Police are knocking on doors at midnight and interrogating our activists. Are we living in a democracy? Where are we?' he questioned. On the state government suppressing the rights of the farmers, he stated that the government was tarnishing their own image. 'The state government is tarnishing its image by curbing farmers' rights. It is trying to suppress the farmers' protest over the Hemavati river water issue. The government is using police thuggery to suppress this movement,' Vijayendra said. 'Maybe one or two people threw stones - that is not acceptable. The police are a part of our state. But using such incidents as an excuse to target our activists and farmer leaders and put them behind bars is a conspiracy. This will not help suppress the Hemavati river water protest,' he asserted. 'I and other party leaders will visit the site this afternoon. This worthless Congress government is doing no development work. It cannot even provide funds for development. The collapse of law and order is due to the government's conspiracy. This is all being done to cover up their failures,' he alleged. 'We are not big people to advise the state government on how to maintain law and order, but the BJP has the power to break this government's goonda behaviour and arrogance. Our workers have that strength. We will show it in the coming days,' he said in response to a question. (ANI)

Pakistan-sponsored terrorism has tentacles across the world: Ambassador Sujan Chinoy on India-Africa counterterror push
Monrovia [Liberia], June 3 (ANI): Former Indian envoy Sujan Chinoy praised the success of Group 4 of the all-party MPs delegation, led by Shiv Sena MP Shrikant Shinde, in fulfilling its objectives during visits to the UAE, Democratic Republic of Congo, Sierra Leone, and Liberia. 'The delegation was warmly received at the highest levels of government in all these countries, meeting presidents, vice presidents, foreign ministers, national security advisors, and senior parliamentary leaders. They also engaged with the Indian diaspora, journalists, social media influencers, and think tanks. The main goal was to raise awareness about the threat of global terrorism, particularly Pakistan-sponsored terrorism, in the context of Operation Sindoor. I believe this objective has been fully met, strengthening cooperation between India and African countries to combat Pakistan-based terrorism,' Chinoy said. He further highlighted the rising threat of terrorism in Africa, saying, 'The African Union comprises a very large number of countries, and recent UN reports suggest that this continent is no longer immune to global terrorism. Pakistan-sponsored terrorism has its tentacles spread across the world. The terrorist networks afflicting Africa also have linkages with networks based in Pakistan. In recent years, Africa has emerged as a major centre for global terrorism, with groups like Boko Haram in Nigeria, al-Shabaab in Somalia, Tanzania, and Kenya, as well as many others operating out of Mozambique. Particularly, the Sahel region of Africa has experienced a significant spike in terrorist incidents.' 'There's been a perceptible change in terms of the scourge of global terrorism and its extension to this part of the world. So with all these aspects being covered in the discussions, we have been successful in sensitising all our interlocutors, not only in the UAE but also in West Africa, about the need for us to work together to meet this challenge,' he added. Reflecting on his personal experience during the outreach visit, Chinoy stated, 'I have been serving the nation for the last 44 years, and I am extremely privileged to be a member of this group led by Shrikant Shinde. The group comprised many eminent members of parliament, all of them stalwarts in their own right, and it was a very humbling experience for me to be in their company for so long and to play a supportive role in the huge responsibility that had been placed on the shoulders of each member of this delegation. So it was a learning experience. It was a humbling experience, but above all, it was a tremendous privilege for me to serve in this capacity as a member of this all-party MPs delegation.' The delegation, which includes BJP MPs Bansuri Swaraj, Atul Garg, Manan Kumar Mishra, Indian Union Muslim League's E.T. Mohammed Basheer, Biju Janata Dal's Sasmit Patra, BJP leader S.S. Ahluwalia, and former Ambassador Sujan Chinoy, is part of a broader initiative by India to counter global misinformation and highlight its zero-tolerance policy on terrorism. The group is also briefing international partners on India's response to the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack and its wider strategy to combat cross-border terrorism. This multi-party delegation, consisting of seven groups led by one MP each, has been initiated to counter global misinformation and highlight India's zero-tolerance policy on terrorism. (ANI)
