Gadwal: A significant and symbolic event took place today in Palvai village of Maldakal Mandal, part of the Gadwal Assembly Constituency, as MLA Sri Bandla Krishnamohan Reddy attended the Bhoomi Pooja (foundation ritual) for the installation of a statue of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, the architect of the Indian Constitution.
As the chief guest, the MLA formally initiated the groundwork for erecting the statue by offering prayers and commencing the foundation works.

Delhi HC gives interim relief to property owners in Batla House
The Delhi High Court on Monday ordered status quo till July 10 on the demolition notices issued by the Delhi Development Authority against seven residents of Okhla's Batla House area. The court posted the matter for hearing on July 10, when the other petitions related to the demolitions in the area are also scheduled for hearing. The counsel for the petitioners argued that the DDA and the Delhi government had 'indiscriminately targeted properties beyond the identified area and without issuance of individual notices'. The lawyer said that the petitioners' properties were marked for demolition following a survey on June 4, and they were informed about an 'imminent coercive action' despite the structures being outside the demolition zone and being covered under the PM-UDAY scheme, which gives legal property rights to people living in Delhi's unauthorised colonies. 'No demarcation report or verification of PM-UDAY eligibility has been provided to the petitioners till date. The threatened action thus amounts to a clear violation of the principles of natural justice, the right to livelihood and the equal protection guaranteed under the Constitution,' argued the plea. The petitioners also referred to the interim protection granted by the court to other similarly placed persons. On July 16, the court ordered a similar status quo while hearing a batch of pleas against the DDA demolition order. The Supreme Court had on May 7 ordered the urban body to demolish unauthorised structures on 'Khasra number 279' in the area, spread across 0.702 hectares along the Muradi Road in Okhla.

India rejects OIC remarks as 'unwarranted', slams Pakistan's influence
India on Monday slammed the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) for making "unwarranted" and "factually incorrect" references to it while coming under influence of Pakistan, which turned terrorism into "statecraft". India's strong reactions came after a two-day foreign ministerial conclave of the OIC in Turkiye criticised New Delhi on a range of issues including what it said is "social marginalisation" of Indian Muslims. The OIC also called for strict adherence to bilateral pacts between India and Pakistan, including the Indus Waters Treaty and stressed the need for a broad-based dialogue for peaceful settlement of all outstanding disputes. "India categorically rejects the unwarranted and factually incorrect references to India at the OIC council of foreign ministers' meeting," the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) said in a statement. "These statements, driven by Pakistan, which has turned terrorism into statecraft, reflect the continued misuse of the OIC platform for narrow political ends," it said. The MEA said the OIC's repeated "failure" to acknowledge the real and documented threat of terrorism emanating from Pakistan, most recently evidenced in the heinous Pahalgam attack, reflects a "wilful disregard" for facts. It said "the OIC has no locus standi to comment on India's internal affairs, including Jammu and Kashmir, which is an integral and sovereign part of India -- a fact enshrined in the Indian Constitution and irreversibly settled." "The OIC should reflect deeply on the perils of allowing Pakistan's propaganda to hijack and politicise its agenda. Any other course can only undermine the OIC's credibility and relevance," the MEA said.
