Anger over big queues for Clubland event at Glasgow's Hydro

Glasgow Times06-05-2025

Thousands of fans headed to the OVO arena for the Clubland show, which they dubbed "the biggest night of your life".
However, some punters were left seething as it took them "hours" to get inside the venue.
The star-studded night opened with GBX anthems courtesy of Clyde 1's George Bowie and featured huge names like DJ Basshunter and noughties dance icon Cascada.
But some fans might have missed the Glasgow DJ's set as they were stranded outside.
One who had travelled miles fumed: "I travelled from Manchester to an absolute shambles. Shame on you, OVO. What we did get to see of the Clubland sets were fantastic, like always. Can you bring Ben Nicky to Manchester next year, please?!! AO is a lot more organised."

"Paid to see all the show, not half of it!"

A third also complained about the crowd: "It was really badly managed, no crowd control at all, and I am honestly gutted about the age range. Felt like I was at an underground kids disco."
However, others rushed to share their praise for the night: "It was absolutely brilliant, thank you for a fab night."
And George Bowie enjoyed his set, posting on Facebook, he said: "The Clubland Events team absolutely smashed OVO Hydro last night, even Billy Gillies (Music) made a surprise appearance. What a night, getting to open the show with a GBX set and then perform the Whiskey Roll remix with Cammy Barnes & Outforce to 10,000 ravers was a moment to treasure forever."

An SEC spokesperson said: 'The safety and security of our guests is our number one priority, and we always do our best to ensure a quick entry process for our guests.
"There were some challenges at the Clubland event with a small number of people, which meant it took our security team a little longer than usual to carry out all the necessary checks.
"We apologise to anyone who was affected.'
The tour now heads to Aberdeen this coming weekend. They'll play the P&J Live Arena on Friday, May 9.

Orlando Bloom wants to ‘get the band back together' for Pirates Of The Caribbean

Actor Orlando Bloom has said he thinks it would be 'great to get the band back together' for a new Pirates Of The Caribbean project. The 48-year-old, who plays Will Turner in the Disney film franchise, told ITV's This Morning there is a chance the cast could reunite for a new instalment. Advertisement Asked if more Pirates Of The Caribbean features are possible, he said: 'Well, I don't know, I can't say anything at the moment because I really don't know, but there's definitely availability. 'I think they're trying to work out what it would all look like, I personally think it'd be great to get the band back together, that would be great, but there are always different ideas, and so we'll see where it lands.' Bloom also spoke about his latest film Deep Cover, which will be released on June 12, saying he took inspiration from Oasis frontman Liam Gallagher when constructing his character. View this post on Instagram A post shared by This Morning (@thismorning) The Kent-born actor said: 'When I read in the script that (his character) was a northern I was like, 'who's the iconic northerner that I know?'. Advertisement 'Growing up I went to Knebworth and seeing Liam and the boys, the whole band, but Liam, he's just got that swag, hasn't he? 'I thought if I can get even close to that, I'd have a lot of fun trying, and it sort of lent itself, and I kind of imagined that (he) was sort of this desperate, out of work actor, maybe he worked at like a costume house or something. 'So he'd get really into the costume and what he was wearing, and the Liam look and everything, so it was a really great way into the character, and I had a lot of fun with it.' The Pirates Of The Caribbean series has seen five feature films: The Curse Of The Black Pearl (2003); Dead Man's Chest (2006); At World's End (2007); On Stranger Tides (2011); and Dead Men Tell No Tales (2017); along with the short film Pirates Of The Caribbean: Tales Of The Code: Wedlocked (2011). Disneyland to close Monsters, Inc. ride to make way for new attraction

Disneyland is closing the Monsters, Inc. Mike & Sulley to the Rescue! ride in early 2026 to make way for a new Avatar-themed attraction. The Monsters, Inc. ride, which has been operating since 2005, takes guests through Monstropolis in a taxi as they help Mike and Sulley return Boo to her home. Disney Experiences Chairman Josh D'Amaro announced the new Avatar destination, based on Avatar: The Way of Water, at the D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event. The Avatar attraction will allow guests to experience the world of Pandora, including its natural wonders, beauty, and dangers, with a focus on the seas of Pandora. Disneyland will also begin construction on a new Coco-themed ride near Paradise Gardens Park and Pixar Pier in the fall, though an opening date has not been released.
