2 men killed, 2 minors injured in separate celebratory firing incidents in Bihar
Patna: Two men were killed and two minors injured in two separate incidents of celebratory firing on Wednesday night in Bihar, police said. Bachchu, who is a suspect in the murder case of Kaushlendra's brother, is absconding, an officer said. (Representational image)
A 53-year-old man was killed and two minors were injured during celebratory firing at a religious ceremony held at the residence of Bachchu Yadav in Mora-Talab (Navadapar) under Bhaganbigha police station in Nalanda district.
Bachchu, who is a suspect in the murder case of Kaushlendra's brother, is absconding, an officer said.
Police identified the deceased as Kaushlendra Gop. Two minors also sustained injuries. The deceased's wife, Reena Devi, alleged that a bar girl dance was present at the Tilak ceremony and, while watching the function, 'a gunman fired indiscriminately following the directive of Bachchu, which led to fatal injury to Kaushlendra, who was declared dead in Sadar hospital.' Devi accused the gunman of targeting her husband.

A police team reached the spot after being alerted around 10:30 pm. 'The police have collected information that a Tilak ceremony of Chhote Lal Yadav was organised where a dance programme was also running. A man in inebriated condition watching the function used a country-made firearm and started fire. One of his bullets pierced through the arm of a 12-year-old Subham and hit Kaushlendra too from the back side. He was declared brought dead in Sadar hospital while Subham is out of danger,' Nalanda superintendent of police (SP) Bharat Soni told HT.
The police have lodged an FIR against Bachchu under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).

Meanwhile, Karu Paswan, a 48-year-old native of Nalanda, was killed in another incident of celebratory firing during a wedding celebration in the Ghonswari police station area of Patna.
Paswan was the groom's uncle, and the family was travelling from Asthama in Nalanda. 'The celebratory firing started when the groom's family had reached Ishanagar village. One of the billets hit the mouth of the victim who died on the spot,' an officer said.

Bihar man buried to destroy evidence after speeding car drags, kills him
A speeding car hit and killed a couple in Bihar's Saharsa district, dragged the husband for three km before the driver stopped to dump the body in the boot and drove 14 km to bury it before fleeing, police said on Thursday. The body was exhumed as one person, who allegedly helped the accused to conceal it, was arrested. Police said that the car was registered in the name of Anoj Kumar Singh, who gifted the car to his son-in-law. Keshav Kumar Singh, a cousin of the son-in-law, drove the car when it hit the couple. Police said Shyama Devi, 55, and her husband, Bharat Ram, 60, were sitting near their roadside hut on Tuesday when the speeding car hit the couple. Devi died on the spot, and her body was recovered 30 metres away, but Ram went missing, triggering protests. Police pressed a dog squad and a technical team into service and filed a case against unidentified accused under Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita sections 281 (rash or negligent driving), 105 (causing death by negligence), and 106 (1) (causing death by rash or negligent act) based on the statement of the couple's son, Butan Kumar. Police superintendent Himansu, who constituted a Special Investigation Team (SIT), scanned CCTV footage from cameras installed between Saurbazar and Saharsa (14.3 km) and first identified the vehicle with the help of the registration number and seized it. '...the SIT found that the car first stopped at Jivachhpur, where the driver tried to separate the body from the vehicle, but he was unable to do so. Police recovered some body parts and clothes from the spot. Later, the driver arrived at the house of his friend [Sunil Kumar Sharma], some seven km from Jivachhpur, who arranged sacks for the driver.' He added that the driver kept the body in a sack, took it to an isolated place, and buried it with the help of an excavator, whose operator told police he had dug a grave on the directive of his employer to bury cattle, near a construction site. 'The body was recovered and sent for autopsy,' said Himansu. He added that the SIT first looked for Ram at government and private hospitals. 'As the incident took place around 4.30am, there were few people on the road and perhaps nobody noticed the man trapped between the engine and wheels.'

His father has lodged a complaint with Kalna SDO and cops have started a probe. In the complaint to SDO Shubham Aggarwal, the victim's father stated that he had sent his son to work at an imitation ornament factory owned by Hapal Mollah two years ago. "My boy complained that he was often assaulted. The employer didn't even pay him regularly," the boy's mother said. He had to be given IV drips and blood at the hospital, she said. Rajkot resident Molla had come to the family's home two years ago. "Due to extreme poverty, I was compelled to let my son go. Since then, he has been subjected to torture and beatings. My son's body is covered with scars. Last Sunday, a man named Kalu Ram brought him to Howrah station and handed him to us. We brought him home and immediately took him to the hospital, where he was admitted. We demand strict punishment for the culprit," the mother said. Kalna BDO (I) Supratik Saha told TOI: "The SDO has instructed an inquiry and we have arranged for the boy's treatment."
