T.N. CM Stalin inaugurates 700 new housing units for Sri Lankan Tamils
In line with the Chief Minister's previous announcement that over 7,400 new housing units would be constructed for the welfare of Sri Lankan Tamils, these units were constructed at 67 camps in 26 districts across the State.
In the first phase, over 3,500 units were constructed and were handed over to beneficiaries at 32 camps in 18 districts. In continuation, the Chief Minister on Monday virtually inaugurated 729 units constructed in Salem, Dharmapuri, Tiruppur, Villupuram, and Virudhunagar districts.
Mr. Stalin also virtually inaugurated new buildings constructed for the Revenue and Disaster Management Department at a total cost of ₹54 crore in various locations across the State.
Ministers K.K.S.S.R. Ramachandran and S.M. Nasar, Chief Secretary N. Muruganandam, and senior officials were present on the occasion in the Secretariat.
State Minorities Commission thanks CM
In another event, members of the State Minorities Commission called on the Chief Minister and thanked him for the State government providing financial assistance to certain religious minorities, namely Buddhists, Jains, and Sikhs, for their pilgrimages.
As the State government introduced self-certification under the Directorate of Town and Country Planning, functioning under the Housing and Urban Development Department, some beneficiaries who obtained self-certification called on Mr. Stalin and thanked the government for the new initiative.
Representatives of the Confederation of Real Estate Developers Association of India (CREDAI) also met the Chief Minister and thanked him for the release of the 'Coimbatore Master Plan 2041' document, as well as key initiatives by the Housing and Urban Development Department.

Moradabad: Reacting on the natural disaster in Uttarakhand, former Samajwadi Party MP S T Hasan on Sunday cautioned that demolishing places of worship 'out of arrogance' would anger the 'creator' and lead to an increase in natural disasters. Talking to PTI Videos, he said India is a religious country where people of all faiths — Hindus, Muslims, Sikhs and Christians — believe that the events in their lives are determined by the Almighty. Hasan added that tampering with such sacred spaces disturbs the spiritual balance. 'If we bulldoze the places where the creator's name is taken — the one who created the entire universe — then it is obvious that his blessings will not remain with us,' he remarked. The former Moradabad MP also linked the worsening of natural calamities to environmental destruction. 'We have destroyed the ecosystem by cutting trees indiscriminately. This ecological imbalance has resulted in an increase in natural disasters,' he said.

Ramadoss asserts he will form ‘victorious alliance' for 2026 Assembly poll
Urging party cadre not to heed 'anyone else's words', PMK founder S. Ramadoss on Sunday said he would form a 'victorious alliance' for the 2026 Assembly election. Dr. Ramadoss was addressing the 8th Magalir Peruvizha Maanadu (women's conference), organised by the PMK and the Vanniyar Sangam at Poompuhar in Mayiladuthurai district. 'I will form a victorious alliance in 2026 no matter who says what. You don't even have to hear it — only what I tell will happen,' Dr. Ramadoss told the gathering. He appreciated the support extended by the police, government departments, and the Tourism Department, calling it 'astonishing'. Call for caste census Urging Chief Minister M.K. Stalin to conduct a caste-based survey, Dr. Ramadoss said it would secure the Chief Minister's place in 'social history'. 'Late Chief Minister Karunanidhi was my good friend. He gave 20% reservation for MBCs. As his son, you [Mr. Stalin] should not hesitate,' he said. Warning of State-wide agitations, he asked Mr. Stalin not to push the PMK to such as position. He also called for liquor prohibition and the elimination of ganja, offering assistance in framing measures to curb the sale and use of alcohol and drugs. PMK general secretary Murali Sankar, MLAs G.K. Mani and Arul, Dr. Ramadoss's wife Saraswathi, daughter Srigandhi Parasuraman, and grandson Mukunthan were present. Along the roads leading to the venue, a large number of posters carried pictures of Dr. Ramadoss and PMK president Anbumani Ramadoss together. Over 1,200 police personnel were deployed as security for the event, and traffic congestion led to vehicles from Karuvi village being stopped by the police.

Chief Minister M.K. Stalin to unveil statues of leaders in Pollachi today
Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin, who arrived in Coimbatore on Sunday evening, is scheduled to unveil statues of prominent leaders and attend key events during his visit to Udumalpet and Pollachi on Monday. At 9.15 a.m., he will distribute benefits under various government welfare schemes at Nethaji Grounds in Udumalpet. At noon in Pollachi, he will unveil statues of Kamaraj, V.K. Palanisamy Gounder, C. Subramaniam, and N. Mahalingam. He will also inaugurate a memorial dedicated to workers who lost their lives during the construction of the Parambikulam-Aliyar Dam in Pollachi and the V.K. Palaniswamy Auditorium. He will subsequently view a photographic exhibition and a model of the Parambikulam-Aliyar project. Following this, he will return to Coimbatore by 1.15 p.m. and depart for Chennai by flight.
