‘Tejashwi, there is still time': Tej Pratap warns Voter Adhikar Yatra by his brother and Rahul Gandhi will have ‘disastrous results'

Independent MLA and former Bihar minister Tej Pratap Yadav, the elder son of RJD president Lalu Prasad, accused Congress MP Rahul Gandhi and RJD leader and brother Tejashwi Yadav of undermining democratic values and warned them of 'disastrous results' of their ongoing Voter Adhikar Yatra in the Bihar elections. The statement comes even as Tejashwi on Tuesday exhorted the people of Bihar to make Rahul Gandhi the prime minister after the next Lok Sabha polls. 'I do not understand whether Rahul Gandhi and Tejashwi Yadav are out to save democracy or to destroy it,' Tej Pratap posted on X in response to reports that a driver of an RJD MLA and a journalist were allegedly assaulted during the Yatra in Aurangabad. 'The way Vijay Kumar Singh alias Dabloo Singh's driver and a journalist were beaten and abused by 'Jaichand' is absolutely wrong and shameful. I strongly condemn it,' he said. He further warned his younger brother, 'Tejashwi, there is still time… Beware of the Jaichands around you, or else the results of the elections will be disastrous.' He ended his post with a pointed jibe: 'The election results will show how wise you really are.' Yadav's criticism comes as Gandhi leads a 16-day Voter Adhikar Yatra through Bihar, joined by Mahagathbandhan alliance leaders including Tejashwi and father Lalu Prasad, marking the Opposition's first major mass mobilisation in the state ahead of Assembly elections due later this year. Addressing a rally on the third day of the 'Voter Adhikar Yatra' in Nawada, Tejashwi also called upon the youth to 'root out the NDA' from the state in the Assembly elections. The RJD leader described Gandhi as the one 'who has given sleepless nights to Prime Minister Narendra Modi' for undertaking the state-wide yatra. 'In the upcoming Assembly polls, we shall root out the NDA, which has been running a government comparable to a rickety old car ('khatara') for the last 20 years. And, in the next Lok Sabha polls, we shall make Rahul Gandhi the prime minister,' said Tejashwi, evoking cheers from the crowd. The 1,300-km yatra, which began in Sasaram and will traverse 23 districts and 50 Assembly segments, including strongholds and swing constituencies for Mahagathbandhan, is raising issues of electoral justice and political accountability amid the Election Commission's Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in Bihar. It is also being seen as a grassroots campaign by the Opposition to challenge the JDU-BJP National Democratic Alliance in the state. Tej Pratap dismissed the outreach efforts as lacking substance. 'They are doing yatras and raising issues, but nothing will come out of it. The real issues should be education, healthcare, and unemployment,' he told reporters asking for his view on the Voter Adhikar Yatra. Tej Pratap's attack on Congress and RJD came weeks later after he extended an open invitation to the parties to join his newly formed alliance. On August 5, Tej Pratap formally announced a political front under the banner of 'Team Tej Pratap Yadav', comprising 5 smaller regional parties. His latest remarks are part of his new confrontational stance towards the RJD, following his expulsion from the party and family in May by Lalu Prasad. Last month, he had criticised the RJD's silence on allegations against their senior MLA Bhai Virendra, who was purportedly caught on audio threatening a panchayat official. (With PTI inputs)

"Will Work To Make Rahul Gandhi Next PM": Tejashwi Yadav

Patna: Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Tejashwi Yadav on Tuesday made a strong pitch in support of his 'bade bhai (elder brother)' and Congress MP Rahul Gandhi, during the ongoing Voter Adhikar Yatra and declared that the Mahagathbandhan (RJD-Cong-Left alliance in Bihar) will work towards making him the next Prime Minister. Tejashwi's poll pitch for Rahul Gandhi came at their roadshow in Nawada district. Addressing the gathering of supporters, he said, "Whenever the next Lok Sabha elections are held, we will dislodge the NDA government from power and will work to make Rahul Gandhi the Prime Minister." The war cry by the RJD leader and also the unarguable face of Mahagathbandhan in the Bihar elections, was greeted with loud cheering and applause from the crowd. Tejashwi and Rahul, having launched 'Voter Adhikar Yatra' from Bihar's Sasaram, are set to tour 1300 km in the state to win public support ahead of the Assembly elections. The bonhomie between the two leaders is also apparent, with Tejashwi in the driver's seat while the Congress MP gives him company. In one of the viral pictures from the rally, Tejashwi was seen driving a jeep while Rahul was waving to the crowd from the 'passenger' seat. While batting for Rahul Gandhi as the next Prime Minister, Tejashwi also blasted the Centre as well as the Nitish government for 'tampering' with the electoral rolls and 'abandoning' the people of Bihar. He said that many names have been struck off the Bihar electoral rolls, and many people who voted in the Lok Sabha elections have been declared dead in the current draft electoral list. "BJP is snatching the rights of people to vote in upcoming elections, in connivance with the Election Commission," Tejashwi said and credited Rahul for 'exposing' the corruption and voter fraud in Bihar's electoral process. Slamming the Nitish administration, he said the Chief Minister is in an "unconscious state" and unable to lead the state, and therefore it is time to throw out this 'inefficient and ineffective' government. He said that the Bihar government has no plan or framework for people's welfare, and it is just aping policies proposed by him and the grand alliance. "Mahagathbandhan promised people of Bihar -- free electricity, enhanced pension, formation of youth commission. They copied our promises and started it just ahead of the elections to fool and cheat you," he stated. He added that it is the INDIA bloc that will shape the future of Bihar as it has the 'vision and mission' for the state and also has a 'pool of young leadership' to steer the state.

Tej Pratap says ‘vote theft' not an issue in Bihar, cautions brother against ‘Jaichands'

Patna: RJD chief Lalu Prasad's elder son Tej Pratap Yadav on Tuesday warned his younger brother Tejashwi Prasad Yadav of 'Jaichands' (known for treachery in history) around him and said his 'Voter Adhikar Yatra' with Congress leader Rahul Gandhi was only to create confusion. Tej has formed Team Tej Pratap after his father expelled him from RJD for six years over his pictures and videos with a girl that went viral on social media in May this year. He has announced his candidature from Mahua in Vaishali and also decided to field his candidates from other seats in the assembly elections this year. Tej said 'vote theft' is not an issue in Bihar and there is Election Commission (EC) to look after it. He said the opposition should not divert from the real poll issues like health, education and unemployment. In his post on X, Tej shared a 19-second video of the 'Voter Adhikar Yatra' passing through Aurangabad on Monday and wrote, "I am unable to understand whether Rahul and Tejashwi have come out to save democracy or to tear it apart. Because the way the driver of MLA Vijay Kumar Singh alias Dabloo Singh from Nabinagar assembly and a journalist were beaten up and abused by 'Jaichand', it is very wrong and shameful. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Last Chance: 80% Off This Artisan's Retirement Jewelry Sale The Heritage Journal Read More Undo If people who talk about democracy are behaving like this with their own workers and officials, then one can imagine how they will behave with the common people. Now the election result will decide how wise you are." The former health minister also called the girl's brother Akash Yadav a 'Jaichand'. "Making my photo viral by Akash Yadav and some Jaichands is a conspiracy to end my political career. These Jaichands don't know yet that my name is Tej Pratap Yadav. My political career will not end because of small people like you, rather I will move forward with more strength. No matter how big a conspiracy any Jaichand makes, he will never be able to defeat me," he posted on X. Stay updated with the latest local news from your city on Times of India (TOI).
