
CoBRA commander gets 5th Gallantry Medal for courage during Bastar ambush

's 210 CoBRA battalion was listed in the Medal for Gallantry (GM) by President for the fifth time, making him one of the most decorated counter-insurgency officers in the country who has served in worst LWE affected Sukma and Bijapur districts for eight years.
The medal, announced in the Independence Day 2025 honours list, recognises his outstanding courage during a Maoist ambush in Bijapur when Maoists opened fire at Tarrem police station and Kumar when rushed to the spot for reinforcement, himself came under Maoists' IED blast and heavy firing.
It was the night of Oct 16, 2022, when a team of CoBRA security personnel led by Kumar was rushing through 10 kms stretch of hostile terrain of Tarrem region to rescue injured police sub-inspector Rakesh Suryavanshi.
While the condition of cop was deteriorating, the rescue team was ambushed by Maoists and the IED blast left a deep crater on road, followed by indiscriminate firing upon vehicles.
During night, the threat level gets multi-fold in interior locations such as Bijapur's Basaguda and Tarrem. The officer retaliated, broke the ambush and somehow saving his team, arrived at the police station and evacuated the injured cop.

Strategic infrastructure has been reclaimed, with 16 new Forward Operating Bases (FOBs) set up and key roads in Tarrem, Jagargunda, and Pamed reopened after two decades.

Madhya Pradesh crash: Mini bus carrying music troupe collides with truck in Shivpuri; 4 killed, 11 injured
SHIVPURI: At least four persons were killed and 11 others injured after a mini bus they were travelling in collided with a small truck on National Highway 46 in Madhya Pradesh's Shivpuri district on Saturday, police said. The accident occurred around 5 am, around 30 km from the district headquarters, when the mini bus, carrying a Gujarat-based music troupe, was returning from a programme at the Kashi Vishwanath Temple in Varanasi, Survaya police station SHO Arvind Chari said. According to the police, the bus driver lost control, entered the wrong lane, and collided with the truck. The deceased included Hardik Dave (37), a singer in the troupe, Raja Thakur (28), Ankit Thakur (17), and Rajendra Solanki (47), all members of the band. The injured have been admitted to hospitals in the area. A preliminary probe suggests that the driver of the mini bus, which had 17 people onboard, might have dozed off at the wheel. MP horror: Woman strangles her 2 daughters, wraps bodies in mat
Representative Image UJJAIN: A woman strangled her two minor daughters to death in Tuljapur of Mahidpur tehsil in Ujjain district on Friday. After wrapping their bodies in a mat, she told her sister-in-law that she killed them, police said. Mahidpur police station in-charge Narendra Singh Parihar stated that the village watchman of Tulsapur informed them that Pooja, 24, wife of Ashok Banjara, strangled her four-year-old daughter Uma and eight-month-old Anushka . The police reached the scene, but by then, the children were already taken to the hospital. During the investigation at the scene, it was revealed that after killing her daughters, Pooja wrapped them in a mat and told her sister-in-law that she killed them. The incident occurred around 2 to 2:30 pm. The police began investigating the case, detained the mother, Pooja, and upon questioning, she confessed to the murders. It was also revealed that the two young sisters have an elder sister, aged seven, who was playing outside the house at the time of the incident. The father of the children was at work and arrived at the scene after learning about the incident. According to the station in-charge, a case was registered. The post-mortems of the two young girls were conducted.
