Astronomer CEO thanks team after viral kiss cam moment, says 'we look forward…': Read note

Astronomer's interim CEO and co-founder, Pete DeJoy, has taken to LinkedIn to share his thoughts after the kiss cam fiasco that affected the company earlier this month. Co-founder Pete DeJoy is acting as interim CEO.(Pete DeJoy/Airflow Summit)
His comments come after the former CEO, Andy Byron, was filmed hugging the company's head of HR, Kristen Cabot, during a kiss cam segment at a Coldplay concert. The footage took the internet by storm, sparking a wave of memes.
Andy Byron has since resigned, and more recently, Kristin Cabot, who served as Chief People Officer, has also stepped down.
Here's What Pete DeJoy Said
In his LinkedIn post, DeJoy noted that the team at Astronomer proved they could support their customers and each other, coming together to support the company's mission "without missing a beat". He mentioned how grateful he was to work alongside such thoughtful and driven people and thanked employees for "showing what great teams are made of".
He added, "Your character and commitment do not go unnoticed.'
'I'd also like to thank the team at Maximum Effort for their remarkable work with our very temporary spokesperson. As Gwyneth Paltrow said, now it's time for us to return to what we do best: delivering game-changing results for our customers. We look forward to what this next chapter holds for Astronomer.'
What Role Did Gwyneth Paltrow Play?
After the Coldplay fiasco, Astronomer hired Hollywood actress Gwyneth Paltrow as a temporary spokesperson. Coincidentally, Paltrow is the ex-wife of Coldplay's lead singer, Chris Martin.
In her role, she addressed several questions directed at the company in a short video. When faced with the question, "OMG, what the actual F?", Paltrow replied, 'Yes, Astronomer is the best place to run Apache Airflow.'
She answered another query about how the company's social media team was faring by pivoting to announce that places were available for the company's upcoming conference.

This is one of the biggest sale events of the year and it starts tomorrow for everyone. While Amazon says that the sale is already live for the Prime members, not all the deals are seemingly live today, with the offers that are listed in the teaser. Since the Amazon Great Freedom Festival sale is starting tomorrow, here is a look at some of the best phone deals that will be available starting July Great Freedom Festival sale announced: Up to 30% discount on Galaxy S24 Ultra, iPhone 15 and moreThe price of the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra will drop again, effectively costing Rs 79,999 during Amazon Great Freedom Festival sale. It was introduced in 2024 with a starting price tag of Rs 1,29,999, which means that one can expect about Rs 50,000 discount on this flagship device. It has an iconic Samsung Galaxy Note design and you can also expect solid raw power and an excellent photography experience out of the box. Apple fans can look for the deals that will be available on the iPhone 16, 16e, and iPhone 15. The iPhone 16e will go on sale at an effective price of Rs 49,249 and the iPhone 15 at Rs 58,249. These prices are inclusive of the bank card offers. It is currently unknown whether Amazon will also offer some flat discount. From what we have seen in the past sales, the platform offers both flat and bank discount offers to consumers to give them a better deal. If the price of the iPhone 16e drops below Rs 50,000, then it would be a good deal for many iPhone fans looking to get Apple's latest iPhone at an affordable price. The 16e was launched at Rs 59,900 in India. Another flagship phone such as the OnePlus 13 is also set to receive some discount, which is a little surprising because the device was launched earlier this year and we hardly see big discounts on fairly new OnePlus phones. It will effectively cost Rs 62,999, which would be inclusive of the bank offers. This is another solid high-end phone, which was introduced at Rs 69,999. Moving ahead, Amazon is also promising to offer the Realme GT 7 at an effective price of Rs 36,999, which is inclusive of some bank offers. It is a solid performer in its segment and people will likely love using it. The OnePlus 13R will also go on sale at the same effective price. This one was launched at Rs 42,999 in India. While Amazon hasn't revealed the exact discount details, the deal could be a combination of some flat discount and bank offers. In the lower price range, the OnePlus Nord CE 4 Lite will receive a big discount, effectively costing Rs 15,999. The Samsung Galaxy M36, Galaxy M06, iQOO Neo 10R, iQOO Z10 and more smartphones will receive big discounts if we go by the teaser that Amazon has released. YouTube is fine with the F-word for monetisation, as long as it's…

If you are a YouTube creator who has been making content that includes profanity in the first 7 seconds, well, YouTube restricted the ability to fully monetise it, and it featured the yellow dollar icon, not the full green icon. But now, as shared by Creator Insider's, Conor Kavanagh, who is the Head of Monetisation Policy Experience at YouTube, has come forward to announce good news that says people can now fully monetise their videos, even if their videos include profanity in the first seven seconds. This opens up monetisation possibilities for creators. YouTube is now okay with profanities but only until the 7-second mark.(Pixabay) So why the change now? Well, YouTube's Conor explains that over time there are new advertising policies, and advertisers cannot specifically target the types of content they would like their ads on. It's primarily the change of expectations. Previously, there used to be an expectation of a gap between the actual profanity and the ad that is going to be displayed. But now advertisers are free to choose from their desired level of profanity. What counts as profanity? YouTube also explains exactly which words count as profanity. Words like assh*le are moderate profanities. Strong profanities include words like 'f*ck' and more. YouTube says you can now use all of these words without affecting the monetisation within the first 7 seconds of your YouTube videos. However, at the same time, if you use profanity in thumbnails or subtitles, monetisation will remain limited. The video also goes in-depth about what can result in a limited monetisation status. Videos like a compilation of a character's top swear words from a specific TV show, or something similar wherein strong profanities are repeated, remains a violation of the advertiser-friendly guidelines on YouTube. Apple Introduces Video Call Support With Specialists For Shoppers In India

New Delhi: With a rising number of people browsing and shopping online, iPhone maker Apple on Wednesday announced a service that would enable customers in India to connect on a video call with an Apple specialist for personalised advice and help in comparing models when buying its products. In a release, Apple said India is the second country to get this service, building on the company's expanding retail presence here. Earlier this year, the company launched the Apple Store app in India for easier and more personalised browsing, buying, and support experience. "Apple today introduced Shop with a Specialist over Video in India, offering customers a new way to shop for Apple products on the Apple Store online. The service connects customers with an Apple Store team member via a secure, one-way video call to browse the latest Apple products, including the iPhone 16 lineup; discover new features; and learn about Apple's trade-in program, financing options, and more - all from the comfort of their homes," Apple said in a release. During the session, customers can get tailored, personalised advice, enabling them to compare models and learn more about available purchase options to decide on the product that suits their needs. The service, offered in English, will support customers on iOS and non-iOS devices. "India is a vibrant and dynamic market, and we're thrilled to deepen our connection with customers here through Shop with a Specialist over Video,' Karen Rasmussen, Apple's head of Retail Online, said.
