Two men released without charge following €150k drug seizure

The Kerry Divisional Drugs Unit and the Garda Community Engagement Team working together targeted several locations in Kerry on Wednesday in a crack-down focused on the synthetic drug market.
Approximately €150,000 worth of drugs were seized after searches in commercial premises including Killarney, Tralee, Killorglin and Listowel.
This include psychoactive substances, cannabis edibles/vapes and cannabis. The seized drugs will be sent for analysis to Forensic Science Ireland (FSI).
Two men were arrested during the operation but now have been released.
The Kerry drug operation was part of Operation Tara aimed at disrupting drug operations in the country.

He has since been charged, and is due to appear before the courts at a later date. During follow-up searches at a number of locations in the Coolock area, cannabis worth more than €163,000 was seized. Some of the drugs seized in Coolock News in 90 Seconds - August 14th Two men, aged in their 20s and 40s, were arrested in connection with the investigation, and detained 'pursuant to Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984, at a Garda station in the North Dublin area'. They have since been charged, and are due to appear before the Criminal Courts of Justice this morning at approximately 10.30am. The seized drugs are subject to analysis by Forensic Science Ireland (FSI). Gardai said investigations are ongoing. The force added that these latest seizures form part of Operation Tara, an enhanced national anti-drugs strategy launched by Garda Commissioner Drew Harris in July 2021. The focus of Operation Tara is to disrupt, dismantle, and prosecute drug trafficking networks at all levels – international, national, and local – involved in the importation, distribution, cultivation, production, local sale, and supply of controlled drugs.

The two men will now sit before a sitting of the Dundalk District Court following the drug seizure. The two men (aged in their 40s) arrested in connection with the seziure of cannabis in Co Louth have now been charged. On Tuesday, gardaí searched a premises and found a large-scale cannabis cultivation factory. Cannabis plants with an estimated street value of more than €750,000 were seized following the search operaiton in Drogheda. The two men are expected to appear before a special sitting of Dundalk District Court later today at approximately 5pm. Two men arrested after 'large-scale cannabis cultivation factory' dismantled

Two men have been arrested after Gardaí seized cannabis plants worth over €750,000 in a 'large-scale cannabis cultivation factory'. As part of an ongoing operation targeting the sale and supply of drugs, Gardaí attached to the Dublin Crime Response Team and Drogheda searched a premises in Louth and found a large-scale cannabis cultivation factory. Cannabis plants with an estimated street value of more than €750,000 were sized. Two men, aged in their 40s, were arrested at the scene and are currently being detained at Garda Stations in the north east of the country under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act, 1996. The drugs have been sent to Forensic Science Ireland for analysis. Gardaí said investigations are ongoing. Commenting on the investigation, Assistant Commissioner Cliona Richardson said: "The discovery and dismantling of this sophisticated cannabis cultivation operation will affect the ability of those involved to cause harm in our communities.
