Mika Singh hints at how much he was paid for performing at Anant Ambani wedding, complains he didn't get Rs 2 cr watch: ‘Sab ameeron ko de di'

Indian Express05-05-2025

Mika Singh was paid handsomely for performing during the wedding festivities of Anant Ambani, Reliance Chairperson Mukesh Ambani's son, last year. So much so that he admits the fees can last him five years. However, months after the wedding, Mika remains upset over the fact that he didn't get the Rs 2 crore Audemars Piguet limited-edition luxury watch that many others were gifted.
'Anant bhai, mujhe pata hai aap mujhse dukhi ho ke, naraaz ho ke, ek na ek din ghadi doge. Aur main bhi pyaar se le ke hi rahunga. Mera haq banta hai (I know you'll give that watch to me one day after getting frustrated by me. And I'll receive it with love. It's my right),' said Mika. He joked he'll keep chasing Anant for the watch till he gives in.
On Shubhankar Mishra's podcast, Mika argued that richer celebrities have been gifted the watch, but not those like him. 'Main usi baat par chidha hu. Baat mehengi-sasti ki nahi hoti. Sabse gareeb ko toh banta hi hai. Saare ameeron ko toh de di unhone. Sab aise photo daalte hain. Usmei main bhi apna haath ghusaunga (It's not about how expensive or cheap it is. All the rich guests have been gifted the watch. I should get it too so I can flex it in a photo like others do. That's why I'm upset),' added Mika.
Last year, Mika had first expressed his displeasure at not receiving the watch from Anant Ambani, which others like the groomsmen, along with Shah Rukh Khan and Ranveer Singh, did for their involvement in Anant's wedding with Radhika Merchant. However, he had assured everyone that he was paid handsomely for his performance at the wedding.
'I was paid a lot of fees. But I cannot tell you how much this amount was. But if you want to guess, I can say that I got so much money that I could easily spend five years with it. I don't have any special expenses. So I could easily spend five years with that money,' the singer told The Lallantop.
Mika also pointed out how the stigma associated with Bollywood celebrities performing at weddings has gradually faded over the years. 'When we two brothers (him and Daler Mehendi) used to sing at weddings, people used to feel bad that they were going and singing at weddings. Now, I see that everyone is singing at weddings. It doesn't seem like anyone is going to a big show and performing. Now, they are earning all their money by singing at weddings,' said Mika.

Akshay Kumar's Secret Strategy To Get HONEST Public Review Of Housefull 5

Mumbai : Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar, in a surprising move, went undercover, wearing a "killer mask," at a Bandra theatre on Sunday to gather public reactions to his film 'Housefull 5'. The actor called it a "mast experience" of his life. Taking to his Instagram handle, Akshay shared a video of him standing outside a Bandra theatre while wearing a 'killer mask', as shown in the film. While holding a microphone, the actor was heard asking the viewers about the movie and the actor they loved the most in the film as they were exiting the Bandra theatre. In the video, many said they liked the film and praised Akshay Kumar's performance. The viewers were unaware of the actor's presence behind the mask as they gave their feedback for the film. At the end, a woman who seemed to recognise him looked excited as she filmed him with a large smile on her face. While sharing his experience of collecting reviews of his movie, the actor wrote, "Bas yun hi I decided to wear the killer mask and interview people coming out of the Housefull5 show at Bandra today. Pakda jaane wala thaa end mein but bhaag gaya us se pehle. Mast experience. (I decided to wear the killer mask and interview people coming out of the Housefull 5 show at Bandra today, just like that. I almost got caught at the end, but I ran before that. Fun experience.)" View this post on Instagram A post shared by Akshay Kumar (@akshaykumar) Housefull 5 was released in theatres on Friday. Despite mixed reviews, it registered a strong opening at the box office. As per trade analyst Taran Adarsh, the fifth instalment in the popular comedy franchise earned Rs 24.35 cr on Day 1. Taking to his X handle, he wrote, "No block bookings... No #BOGO free ticket offers... No discounted ticket rates... A non-holiday release... Yet, #SajidNadiadwala packs a solid punch with #Housefull5. #Housefull5 posts an impressive opening day score... The film gained momentum as the day progressed, with evening and late-night shows performing the best. Although advance bookings weren't particularly strong, the current bookings drove the numbers higher... In fact, the Day 1 figures have once again proven all pre-release expectations and projections wrong by a wide margin." Taran added, "#Housefull4 - the biggest opener of the franchise - had collected Rs 19.08 cr [pre-Diwali] on its opening day... #Housefull5, despite releasing on a *non-holiday* + working day, has now emerged as the biggest opener of the franchise. #Housefull5 is expected to post even stronger numbers on Saturday and Sunday - two crucial days that could significantly boost its total... If the business jumps into mass circuits, non-national chains, and single screens, the sky's the limit. #Housefull5 [Week 1] Fri Rs 24.35 cr." Directed by Tarun Mansukhani, the film stars Akshay Kumar, Riteish Deshmukh, Abhishek Bachchan, Fardeen Khan, Nana Patekar, Jackie Shroff, Ranjeet, Johny Lever, Jacqueline Fernandez, Nargis Fakhri, Chunky Panday, Dino Morea, Sonam Bajwa and Soundarya Sharma. 'Housefull 5' boasts multiple endings.

Thug Life Box Office Collections: Kamal Haasan has a DISASTROUS weekend, Set to wrap under 100cr worldwide

Tamil film Thug Life has a disastrous debut at the Indian box office, collecting a pathetic Rs. 40 crore approx over its four-day extended weekend. The Kamal Haasan starrer fared relatively better overseas, though still poor, with USD 4.80 million (Rs. 41 crore) weekend, for a worldwide haul of Rs. 81 crore. The film was a dead-on-arrival opening poorly, and then the final nail in the coffin was the outright rejection from the audience. It will be lights out for the film from today and will hardly have any run after the first week. It seems unlikely to cross Rs. 50 crore mark in India and will likely succumb to less than Rs. 100 crore worldwide. The big tentpole films from South India are doing this much and more on their opening day, and here this film is not sure to do in its entire lifetime. The Day Wise Box Office Collections of Thug Life in India are as follows: Thug Life is the second box office misfire for Kamal Haasan in a row, after Indian 2, or third, if one already considers the write-off that Indian 3 is. That said, even Indian 2 managed to gross over Rs. 100 crore worldwide. Ironically, it was exactly three years ago, in the same week, that Haasan stormed back to box office glory with the blockbuster Vikram. On paper, his lineup that followed Vikram seemed to promise a strong commercial run, but it has failed spectacularly. Despite the dismal theatrical performance, the producers of Thug Life are insulated from financial loss, as they fetched handsome prices for the non-theatrical rights. The losses will be with those who paid those prices, as they are certainly not going to recover them, and with the exhibition sector, which has been deprived of footfall during what should have been a peak summer window. The Territorial Breakdown for Box Office Collection in India is as follows:

Paresh Rawal corrects fan who calls him ‘hero' of Hera Pheri 3, requests him to reconsider his exit: ‘There are three heroes'

Paresh Rawal's sudden departure from Priyadarshan's buddy comedy Hera Pheri 3 sent shockwaves in the film industry and among the fans of the franchise who have been waiting for the third part for close to 20 years. Since then, fans have been lobbying on social media to get Rawal — who plays Babu bhaiya — back in the threequel. On Monday, a fan on X commented on a post of Rawal and wrote, 'Sir please think (think emoji) Once again to join HERA FERI movie (popcorn emoji) You are the hero of this movie (red heart emoji).' Rawal was quick to respond. 'NO … There are Three Heroes in Hera Pheri (folded hands and red heart emojis),' the actor wrote back. NO … There are Three Heroes in Hera Pheri . 🙏❤️ — Paresh Rawal (@SirPareshRawal) June 9, 2025 Directed by Priyadarshan, Hera Pheri released in 2000, and also featured Suniel Shetty and Akshay Kumar. It revolved around a quirky, kind-hearted garage owner Baburao Ganpatrao Apte (Rawal), a cunning loafer Raju (Kumar) and a struggling pauper Shyam (Shetty). The trio returned with a sequel Phir Hera Pheri in 2006, which was directed by Neeraj Vora. On May 18, Rawal took to X to officially announce he is no longer part of Hera Pheri 3. 'I wish to put it on record that my decision to step away from 'Hera Pheri 3' was not due to creative differences. I reiterate that there are no creative disagreement with the filmmaker. I hold immense love, respect, and faith in Mr Priyadarshan,' Rawal had said. Kumar, who also serves as a producer on Hera Pheri 3, has sued Rawal for Rs 25 crore in damages. At the trailer launch of the his new film, Housefull 5, Kumar was asked how fans are disappointed with the exit of Rawal from Hera Pheri 3, and have called the acclaimed actor 'foolish', to which Kumar said it is 'not right' to address his 'good friend' Rawal as 'foolish.' I would not appreciate it, and that's not right. I worked with him since the last 30-35 years, we are very good friends. He's a great actor and I really admire him,' said Kumar, adding, 'It's a very serious matter. It is a matter which is going to be handled by the court.' On Rawal's birthday on May 30, his Hera Pheri co-star Suniel Shetty wished him on X with a photo of the two, in which Kumar has been cropped out. 'To the man… Who is a powerhouse of both Wit & Wisdom and an even more wonderful human being. Happy happy birthday Pareshji. Much love and respect always,' Shetty wrote on X. Anna thanks this means a lot 🙏 — Paresh Rawal (@SirPareshRawal) May 30, 2025 Rawal responded to Shetty on Monday, 'Anna thanks this means a lot (folded hands emoji).' Shetty had promised fans he'd discuss Rawal's sudden exit from Hera Pheri 3 once he returns to Mumbai post the promotions of his latest release, Kesari Veer, in Delhi last month. However, there's no word on if the two have had a conversation about the same so far.
