Mika Singh hints at how much he was paid for performing at Anant Ambani wedding, complains he didn't get Rs 2 cr watch: ‘Sab ameeron ko de di'

Indian Express05-05-2025

Mika Singh was paid handsomely for performing during the wedding festivities of Anant Ambani, Reliance Chairperson Mukesh Ambani's son, last year. So much so that he admits the fees can last him five years. However, months after the wedding, Mika remains upset over the fact that he didn't get the Rs 2 crore Audemars Piguet limited-edition luxury watch that many others were gifted.
'Anant bhai, mujhe pata hai aap mujhse dukhi ho ke, naraaz ho ke, ek na ek din ghadi doge. Aur main bhi pyaar se le ke hi rahunga. Mera haq banta hai (I know you'll give that watch to me one day after getting frustrated by me. And I'll receive it with love. It's my right),' said Mika. He joked he'll keep chasing Anant for the watch till he gives in.
On Shubhankar Mishra's podcast, Mika argued that richer celebrities have been gifted the watch, but not those like him. 'Main usi baat par chidha hu. Baat mehengi-sasti ki nahi hoti. Sabse gareeb ko toh banta hi hai. Saare ameeron ko toh de di unhone. Sab aise photo daalte hain. Usmei main bhi apna haath ghusaunga (It's not about how expensive or cheap it is. All the rich guests have been gifted the watch. I should get it too so I can flex it in a photo like others do. That's why I'm upset),' added Mika.
Last year, Mika had first expressed his displeasure at not receiving the watch from Anant Ambani, which others like the groomsmen, along with Shah Rukh Khan and Ranveer Singh, did for their involvement in Anant's wedding with Radhika Merchant. However, he had assured everyone that he was paid handsomely for his performance at the wedding.
'I was paid a lot of fees. But I cannot tell you how much this amount was. But if you want to guess, I can say that I got so much money that I could easily spend five years with it. I don't have any special expenses. So I could easily spend five years with that money,' the singer told The Lallantop.
Mika also pointed out how the stigma associated with Bollywood celebrities performing at weddings has gradually faded over the years. 'When we two brothers (him and Daler Mehendi) used to sing at weddings, people used to feel bad that they were going and singing at weddings. Now, I see that everyone is singing at weddings. It doesn't seem like anyone is going to a big show and performing. Now, they are earning all their money by singing at weddings,' said Mika.

'Deepika Padukone gets more than a lot of male actors': Director Kabir Khan backs her amid Sandeep Vanga's Spirit controversy

Deepika Padukone created quite a stir after her fallout with Sandeep Reddy Vanga over her demand for an 8-hour shift. The industry has since then been divided, and many have come out in support of the actress. The recent one being Kabir Khan, who has voiced his support for the Piku star and her demands. He also revealed that even actors like Aamir Khan and Akshay Kumar work on an 8-hour shift. What did Kabir Khan say about Deepika Padukone's 8-hour shift demand? Talking to Movified, Kabir Khan emphasized the importance of work-life balance in their field. He revealed working with 500 members who have their own families and their own lives. He stated that their well-being matters for two reasons: mental health and efficiency. Backing Deepika Padukone's demand for an 8-hour shift, he called it a 'fair point'. 'Aamir Khan works on an 8-hour shift. Akshay Kumar too. So I don't see why Deepika should be denied the same,' said the Chandu Champion director. He also dismissed the notion that filmmaking comes with a cost to personal life. According to the filmmaker, the work should have a structure. He revealed that he had never shot beyond 12 hours, never worked overtime, and never worked on the 7th day of the week. 'These are basic rules.' Furthermore, Khan also stated that everyone has the right to set their own terms, which suit them. He concluded by saying, 'If a filmmaker doesn't agree, they should have a valid reason. It's that simple.' What did Kabir Khan say about Deepika Padukone's pay demand? Deepika Padukone had reportedly also demanded Rs 25 crore for Spirit, which again did not land well with Vanga. When asked about the reason behind male actors being paid more. Kabir called it a misunderstood argument. He stated that the Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani actress gets paid more than a lot of male actors. 'Whoever brings in the viewers, whether it's an actor, director, man or woman… they deserve to be paid what they're worth. Deepika consistently pulls crowds, so she rightly commands the fee she does,' he stated. On the work front, it was recently announced that Deepika Padukone has come on board Atlee and Allu Arjun's next AA22 X A6. From the looks of the announcement video, it seems she will play a warrior princess in the same.
