Scottish Love Island star Laura Anderson opens up on 'hardest week of parenting'
Scottish Love Island star Laura Anderson has opened up revealing she is struggling with her 22 month old daughter Bonnie.
The radio star uploaded an honest and heartfelt update on social media saying this has been her "hardest week of parenthood so far", reports The Record.
She admitted she's trying to find her feet as a mother to a nearly two year old in today's society, comparing her parenting skills to her parents in the 80s and 90s as she struggles with 'gentle parenting.'
Laura took to Instagram sharing a series of snaps and videos of her week, including a trip to the beach with Bonnie and her mum and snaps of Bonnie enjoying a day at the circus with her boyfriend, footballer Clarke Robertson.
The 36-year-old opened up in the caption, as she wrote: "These may be images of love, laughter and core memories being made recently but the truth behind the smiles is - I'm struggling."
"This has been the hardest week of parenthood so far for me. Bonnie is coming up for 22 months and a lot has changed and keeps changing. I don't know who my daughter is some days, I don't recognise her which has led to my dip in confidence communicating and or disciplining my own child (especially in public)," she admitted.
She added: "I'm scared of responding in the wrong way, I'm scared of making a mistake because what if it teaches her long lasting bad behaviours?! And let's be honest if you grew up in the 80s/90s like me, gentle parenting didn't exist. We got smacked (no offence to my parents) and now it's illegal."
"So I guess you could say I'm trying to find my place as a mother somewhere in between."
"We also talk about the 'juggle' but It's so much more than that. It's the responsibility of choosing a priority every second of the day because we simply can't do it all. I love my child but this is inevitably the hardest 'job' I've ever had (and I've had a lot of jobs)."
The social media star concluded the post in a positive light, revealing: "My new mantra though, is- 'show me how good it can get' So without wishing my daughter's childhood away or those precious bonding turning point/learning curve moments. I hope 'this' ie tantrums…too shall pass."
Laura shares daughter Bonnie with ex-boyfriend Gary Lucy, and has regularly spoke about the struggles of single parenting. Laura and Gary split before Bonnie was even born, with the star labelling him as a "deadbeat dad" after revealing he barely sees his young daughter.
Fans were quick to take to the comments showing their support, and praising Laura for being so open. One fan simply stated: "We're all wingin' it," alongside a red heart emoji.
Whilst another expressed: "I hear you and applaud you for sharing," and a third shared: "Love how genuine and honest you are Laura. Parenthood certainly ain't all plain sailing but you've got this beautiful mama, even if it feels like you don't sometimes, that's a normal part of parenthood but you do n you're such a great mammy to beautiful Bonnie."

Click to share on X/Twitter (Opens in new window) Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window) NICK Knowles' new wife Katie has hit back after bride shamers slammed her for looking "disinterested" at their six-figure wedding. The DIY SOS star tied the knot with Katie, who's 27 years his junior, at an Essex stately home last month, before they celebrated their marriage on a £2k a day honeymoon yacht. 6 Nick Knowles' new wife Katie found herself bride-shamed after sharing a video of herself and her husband on their wedding day Credit: tiktok/@katieaknowles 6 She was trying to draw attention to how lovingly Nick was looking at her Credit: tiktok/@katieaknowles 6 But people were more interested in her lack of eye contact, and her "disinterested" look Credit: tiktok/@katieaknowles 6 But Katie hit back at the cruel comments, as she insisted she was just nervous and desperate not to ruin her make-up as she walked down the aisle Credit: Instagram Despite being back at home now, Katie is still enjoying reliving her special day, and took to TikTok to share a video of Nick's emotional reaction to her walking down the aisle. "When he looks at you like this..." she wrote over the top. In the clip, Katie was seen looking stunning in a white dress with unusual blue detailing, as she walked down to meet Nick, who had opted for a powder pink tux for his big day. The 62-year-old appeared overcome with emotion as he greeted Katie at the altar with a kiss. And the pair were then seen waiting to exchange their vows. "Walking up the aisle to the man who said he wouldn't cry… and completely failed," Katie wrote in the caption. However, a lot of comments pointed out that while Nick couldn't stop staring giddily at his soon-to-be wife, Katie seemed to be struggling to make eye contact with her man. "She doesn't look interested," one wrote. "Did she really want to marry him?" another questioned. "I thought the same," a third commented. We just tied the knot at Glastonbury in front of 500 strangers - I wore a £27 Shein dress & we saved £20K on the DJ too "He keeps looking at her wistfully but she looks as if she didn't want to be there….strange…." someone else said. "Looks like she's ready to go home lol," another added. "She doesn't look at him and looks like she doesn't want to be there," someone else said. "Well you look very unhappy," another insisted. "Yeah I'm getting 'I'm being forced into this' vibes from her," someone else cruelly wrote. "Awww she's the most unhappy bride I've ever seen and I hate that for her if it was just nerves," another said. Wedding makeup do's and dont's Paige Williams, Founder & CEO of the iconic makeup brand shared her tips. DO: Go timeless over trendy We all love a trend babe, but for your wedding day? Let's keep it classic. Think soft glam, radiant skin, neutral tones with a pop of sparkle - You want to look back in ten years and still be obsessed with your glam. Classic never goes out of style. DON'T: Try something totally new Your wedding day is not the time to switch it up with neon liner or completely new brows babe. You want to feel like you, just the most elevated, glowing version. Stick to what you know makes you feel confident and gorgeous. DO: Prioritise long-wear formulas Your wedding is a marathon, not a sprint. You're not just walking down the aisle, you're dancing, hugging, crying, and posing all day long. You need makeup that's in it for the long haul. Go for waterproof, transfer-proof & cry-proof products. Your face needs to slay from 'I do' to the last dance and be able to handle those happy tears. DON'T: Overload your base Babes, less is more. You want coverage, not cake. Go for that breathable, buildable base that lets your real skin glow through. You're aiming for flawless, not flat. Trust me, your photos will thank you. DO: Book a trial Non-negotiable. Whether you're DIY-ing your glam or booking a MUA, a trial is your makeup dress rehearsal. Test it in daylight, take selfies, wear it for hours. It's the only way to know it'll hit just right on the day. DON'T: Forget your neck & chest Don't stop the glam at your jawline, babe. Blend that foundation, bronzer and glow down to your neck and chest, we're going for seamless, snatched and sculpted from every angle. You're the main event, let it show. "It's 10 seconds of video out of an entire 13 hour day meant to be about the way he looks at me," Katie hit back. "I was so nervous, every time I saw him crying I started and I had a full face of make up. "I wanted to stay on my face for more than just the first hour of the day!" "God forbid someone is nervous on their wedding day in front of people," she added in response to another comment, while saying to someone else that she gave "no f**ks" about the criticism. And there were also those in the comments who defended Katie. "I didn't look at my husband either when saying my vows as I didn't want to cry," one wrote. Looks like she wants to go home! TikTok commenter "We've been married for 20 years. I wouldn't read too much into it!" "Ffs folk read so much into things," another added. "If they make each other happy then leave them be. Getting married in front of a room of people and cameras is nerve wracking. "Wishing you guys all the best." "Finally a bride as nervous as I was on my wedding day," a third commented. "Someone came up to me after and said 'you looked so stern'. "It made me so sad because it was one of the happiest moments for me but yes I was nervous and hate being the centre of attention." 6 Their honeymoon on board a yacht set Nick and his wife back £2k a day Credit: nickknowles/Instagram

King Charles and Queen Camilla arrive in Kirkcaldy for day two of Royal Week
King Charles III and Queen Camilla will carry out a number of engagements in Fife, while the Queen will host a reception in Edinburgh as Royal Week continues. The King and Queen have arrived in Kirkcaldy to undertake several engagements as Royal Week progresses in Scotland. Charles and Camilla will kick off Wednesday with commitments in Fife, which include commemorating the town's war memorial's centenary and unveiling a commemorative cairn. They arrived to typical Scottish weather as the royal pair greeted crowds clutching on to umbrellas. Camilla donned a beautiful pale blue coat with a trendy trench coat draped over her shoulders. King Charles also waved to crowds whilst wearing a beige matching trench with a corduroy collar. Kirkcaldy was mentioned in The Beatles track Cry Baby Cry, written by John Lennon, which ironically had a royal theme running through it. Cry Baby Cry featured in the 1968 'White Album' but Lennon thought it was so bad, he later denied writing it. Based on the nursery rhyme 'Sing a song of sixpence' and inspired by a TV advert, it features the character the Duchess of Kirkcaldy, which is now the name of a pub in the town. Following this, the Queen will journey to the Palace of Holyroodhouse in Edinburgh, where she is set to host a reception for the Queen's Nursing Institute of Scotland. Established in 1899 through a donation from Queen Victoria to facilitate the training of district nurses, the charity now offers professional development opportunities for Scotland's community nurses and midwives. Furthermore, it aids them in working collaboratively with those they care for to address health disparities. Traditionally, the King spends a week each year at the Palace of Holyroodhouse, an event known as Holyrood Week or Royal Week in Scotland. On Tuesday, the King initiated the official visit with the customary Ceremony of the Keys in the palace gardens, followed by overseeing an investiture ceremony for honours recipients. Among those to receive honours was swimmer Duncan Scott, Scotland's most decorated Olympian, who was awarded an OBE for services to swimming. Describing it as a "special moment", the 28-year-old revealed it was not the first time he had met the monarch. He told the PA news agency: "I actually met the King when he opened the pool in New Cumnock. "So we had a brief conversation about that. He's always had a real passion for swimming facilities up and down the country." Others to receive their honours were artist Dame Barbara Rae, who received an OBE, while Paralympic swimmer Stephen Clegg and Kevin Hay, who translated the Bible into Doric, were made MBEs. Later in the day the King and Queen hosted guests at a garden party at the palace, alongside the Princess Royal and Vice Admiral Sir Tim Laurence.
