Germany's digital wallet market tipped to reach $59B by 2030
Germany's prepaid card and digital wallet market is expected to record a meteoric growth spurt before the end of the decade, driven by a combination of factors.
According to a Research and Markets report, the industry will reach a valuation of $59.97 billion in 2029. The climb to a market capitalization of nearly $60 billion translates to a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 9.6%
The German market for prepaid cards will soar by 11.1% to reach $41.53 billion by the end of the year.
A community reading of the report highlights changing consumer behavior, an evolving digital payments sector, and corporate adoption of prepaid cards. The report notes that since COVID-19, German residents opted for contactless payment options, triggering a decline in cash transactions.
Furthermore, innovation in digital wallets offering broad functionalities for consumers is tipped to contribute to the surge in CAGR. Analysts are predicting a spike in prepaid card and digital wallet use across retail, hospitality, and e-commerce verticals in Germany.
A key driver of the growth will be the youth-focused payment solutions by German financial institutions. Meanwhile, institutions are leaning on prepaid cards for employee rewards and customer incentives.
The combination of youth-focused payment solutions and corporate adoption will support the push for a 9% CAGR by 2029. For the prepaid card segment, Best Buy, Amazon (NASDAQ: AMZN), and Apple (NASDAQ: AAPL) are tipped to hold the majority of the segment, but the possibility of innovative entrants to the space remains.
The report notes that the climb to a $59 billion valuation will be fraught with challenges, urging firms to invest in data privacy and security features.
'Companies that innovate, enhance security, and provide user-friendly prepaid solutions will be best positioned to capitalize on opportunities in Germany's evolving financial system,' read the report
Blockchain-based payments falter in Germany
Despite the surge in digital payments, German firms are recording slow growth with blockchain technology. A new report revealed that only 21% of financial services firms are keen on exploring blockchain-based solutions, while other sectors are posting even underwhelming figures. However, many German commercial banks are exploring digital bonds to improve their current offerings. While blockchain-based solutions falter, German fintech firms embrace artificial intelligence (AI) for its productivity and efficiency perks.
Saudi Arabia to record high growth in prepaid card market
Another report by Research and Markets has tipped Saudi Arabia's prepaid card market to clinch a $12.88 billion market capitalization in 2029, projecting a CAGR of 7.5% over four years.
Currently, Saudi Arabia's prepaid card market is valued at less than $10 billion, with the report highlighting a raft of factors behind the projected growth spurt.
For Saudi Arabia, government policies to stifle cash usage are the main driving factors behind the rise of prepaid card adoption. Saudi authorities have unveiled their Vision 2030 initiative, designed to improve financial inclusion in the Gulf nation, pledging to support digital payments.
'As Saudi Arabia progresses toward a cashless economy under Vision 2030, the prepaid card market is expected to play a crucial role in shaping the country's digital payments ecosystem,' read the report.
Alongside the government's initiative is the surge in fintech firms and traditional financial institutions rolling out digital payment solutions. Over the last four years, established financial institutions and emerging firms have unveiled new digital solutions, with the report tipping the trend to continue till the end of the decade.
Furthermore, integrating prepaid cards with digital wallets and other contactless payment systems is expected to trigger adoption. New solutions merging digital assets and prepaid cards are also tipped to contribute to the projected valuation.
E-commerce utilities across Saudi Arabia will play a role in rising prepaid card usage. The report cites the fluidity of purchases and the additional security perks offered by prepaid cards in retail use.
Corporate entities are also a significant force driving prepaid card use, leaning on the solution for customer rewards and employee incentives. Established banks like the Saudi National Bank, Alinma Bank, and Rita's Bank will hold a large market share by the end of the decade.
Steep fees plague Saudi Arabia's digital payment adoption
Saudi's road toward a $12 billion market capitalization for the prepaid market is not all smooth sailing. High fees threaten to derail the country's adoption plans for digital payment, with digital wallets being the hardest hit.
To sidestep the steep fees, Saudi Arabia is exploring using blockchain and central bank digital currencies (CBDC) for payment. Despite the mounting challenges, the Gulf nation is making significant strides in cross-border payments for its burgeoning remittance industry.

The best hair curlers for effortless, lasting results, including wands and tongs
Perfect curls may seem elusive, but the best hair curlers can transform even the most stubborn strands. With prices ranging from under £30 to over £100 and options that include wands, tongs and multi-stylers, finding the right tool is no small feat. Celebrity hair stylist and salon owner Melissa Timperley, who has tested countless curlers, says: 'Whether you're chasing soft beachy texture, or defined ringlets, the right hair curler can be a total game-changer.' She recommends prioritising adjustable heat settings, ceramic or tourmaline barrels for even heat and selecting a barrel size to suit your style. Top brands such as Cloud Nine, BaByliss and Dyson dominate the market. Timperley warns: 'Always check the temperature range to avoid heat damage.' We update this guide regularly, so you can shop with confidence and find the best curler for your needs and budget, but if you're in a rush, here's a quick look at my top five: The best hair curlers: At a glance JUMP TO REVIEWS How to choose the best hair curlers Choosing the right hair curler for you can be a minefield. Starting with price, on the lower end of the scale, Timperley suggests looking at brands like Remington and BaByliss and spending between £20 and £50. Tools costing between £50 and £120 will get you better tech, as well as faster heat-up times from brands like Hot Tools, Toni & Guy and Cloud Nine. Spend over £120 and you can expect to get high-end tools with more effective, gentle curling tech. Brands like GHD and Dyson jump to mind, but various retailers have brilliant options that push into this category. Most good hair curlers come with a standard set of features that make them effective on all hair types. Timperley recommends looking for adjustable temperatures, automatic shut-offs, swivel cords and a cool tip or heat-proof glove to protect your hands. Similarly, some design features can be detrimental to the finish of your hair. Timperley advises avoiding poor quality materials, or bulky designs. Thankfully, all the options on this round-up are completely comfortable to use, built from safe and durable materials. How we test hair curlers When testing hair curlers, I follow a strict process to ensure only the best make the cut. My hair is thick, long and slightly wavy when rough dried. The ends of my hair are prone to dryness after heat styling, so I keep this in mind during testing Each curler is scored out of ten for ease of use, curl performance and hold, comfort and safety, suitability for different hair types and build quality. I then average these scores for a final rating. Ease of use assesses how straightforward the curler is to handle. Curl performance and hold considers how effectively curls are shaped and how long they last. Comfort and safety cover weight, size, cord length and features like automatic shut-off, heat-proof gloves or cool-touch tips to prevent burns. Build quality includes barrel coating durability and overall feel. When it comes to suitability for different hair types, I focus on temperature range – the wider, the better. If a curler is recommended for a specific hair texture or length, I make sure to test it on that type. From 15 tested curlers, only those creating lasting, frizz-free curls and working well on thicker hair made the selection. After testing, samples are returned to manufacturers, donated to charity or stored for future comparisons, ensuring recommendations remain current and fair. Why you can trust Telegraph Recommended Our thorough, real-world tests will always help you find the best product. Best Buy Hair Curler: Cloud Nine The Curling Wand Ask most people about their biggest hair curling frustration and you'll hear the same complaints: curls that fall flat or hair that gets damaged by high heat. With Cloud Nine's The Curling Wand, I can safely say those issues are a thing of the past. This is the best curling wand I've tested. The barrel is infused with sericite, a mineral that helps lock moisture into the hair as you style, resulting in smooth, shiny curls without unwanted kinks. The wand offers three temperature settings: high (175C), medium (150C) and low (125C). These are lower than the usual curling wand, which usually exceeds 200C. The lower heat setting means less heat damage, reduced frizz and healthier hair over time. Using the medium setting, I achieved shiny, bouncy curls that lasted all day, even after a humid trip on the London Underground. That's without any hairspray or styling products, which is remarkable for my straight hair that usually needs 180C to hold a curl. If your hair is fine, bleached or damaged, go for the low setting. For thicker or textured hair, the high setting works beautifully. The wand's lightweight design, swivel cord and long cable made it comfortable to use for the 15 minutes it took to style my hair. Extras include a heat-proof glove, a smart carry case and a built-in kickstand, which takes away the need for a heat mat, though the stand occasionally gets in the way when curling larger sections. A minor gripe in an otherwise flawless product. Key specifications 2. Best Value Hair Curler: Mark Hill Pick 'N' Mix Score: 8/10 We like: Easy to use, affordable, interchangeable heads available We don't like: Only one heat setting, no heat-up indicator If you're on a budget, the Mark Hill Pick 'N' Mix Curling wand is my value pick. The Pick 'N' Mix range consists of one main body handle, with 13 different heated styling attachments, including the 32mm medium curling barrel I tested. It's also dual voltage, great for holidays abroad. This barrel was great for creating big voluminous, bouncy curls with plenty of space to curl my long hair. For tighter curls, I'd suggest investing in the 25mm barrel or, you could use the bubble barrel to create textured, beachy curls. After styling, the curls lasted a full working day without dropping. After this, the curls dropped to form a subtle faux-blowout wave, which meant I didn't have to top up my style between washes. The end of the wider barrel doesn't have a cool-touch tip, but the main handle comes with a heat-proof glove to keep your hands safe from burns. Sadly, the curler only has one heat setting, which varies depending on the attachment. The 32mm curling barrel reaches 195C, which is still low enough to be safe to use with a heat protection spray. However, I would recommend people who have bleached, fine or damaged hair to consider other options with a range of temperatures. Still, you can't beat the Mark Hill Pick n Mix on value. Bundled together, the barrel and handle cost £35 and each attachment costs an additional £20, meaning you can create an excellent styling kit without breaking the bank on attachments you won't use. Key specifications 3. Best Hair Wrap Curler: Dyson Airwrap Complete For beauty fanatics, the Dyson Airwrap needs no introduction. It's a brilliant choice for those who are conscious about their hair health, but don't want to compromise on convenience. This wet-to-dry multi-styler allows you to style your hair using airflow alone. The absence of hot plates, paired with lower styling temperatures mean you'll get far less heat damage, compared with using a hair dryer and curling iron separately. The real magic happens when it automatically wraps the hair around the curling barrels using airflow, drying it into a curled position in the process. In my experience, it takes practice to master the technique, but in time it can create gorgeous, voluminous curls. Add onto that two smoothing brushes, a round blow dry brush and a flyaway smoothing attachment and you've got a comprehensive styling tool that takes the dread out of hair wash days. Now to address the elephant in the room – this beauty will set you back almost £500. That's a huge amount to spend on your hair. And, if you don't use the right products, Airwrap curls won't last as long as traditionally heat-styled hair. That said, no air curling alternatives quite live up to the Airwrap's curling power in my experience. Key specifications 4. Best for Long and Thick Hair: Hershesons The Wand Curling long and thick hair can be a battle, with many irons only able to tackle tiny sections of hair at once. Hershesons' The Wand curler is a real powerhouse that can style stubborn tresses without fuss, thanks to its brilliant temperature range and long barrel. That's not to say it won't work for finer hair either, since its temperature range starts at 80C, for fragile coloured hair. It spans all the way to 210C, which gives a better hold on thick, textured tresses. Simply turn the dial at the bottom of the curler, where the swivel cord attaches, and the LCD screen clearly displays the temperature you've selected. Handily, it also lets you know when your desired temperature has been reached so you know exactly when to get styling. In my tests, I found the curler made light work of my thick hair, resulting in voluminous waves when curling larger sections, or tighter ringlets when tackling smaller sections. Thanks to the even heat distribution offered by the ceramic barrel, the finished style was totally frizz-free and stayed smooth and shiny until the next time I washed my hair. I found the right temperature for my hair was around 170C. At this temperature, the curls lasted all day, dropping to beachy waves on the following day. Key specifications 5. Best Automatic Hair Curler: BaByliss Wave Secret Air If you can't wrap your head around a curling wand or tong, but still want curly hair, the BaByliss Wave Secret Air could be your new best friend. This automatic hair curler takes all the guesswork out of hair styling. Simply clamp a section of hair between the two arms and the curler will whizz your hair around its built-in ceramic curling wand. After a few seconds, release the hair and the curler will form a perfect curl. In my tests I was nervous about feeding my hair into this device, for fear of it gobbling it up and spitting out a tangly mess. Thankfully, the curler never pulled or snagged on my hair and if I ever fed it a section it deemed too thick, it would release the hair from its clutches without fuss. Since the heated barrel was fully encased, the risk of burns is dramatically reduced compared to typical curling wands. The resulting curls were soft and shiny and didn't struggle to last throughout the day, only dropping hours later in the evening. I would recommend using hairspray to set the style if you need it to last longer. The curler took a little longer to curl my hair than other curling wands and tongs, but that's partly down to my inexperience. With practice getting the right section size, I'm convinced I would be able to achieve a full head of curls quickly. Key specifications 6. Best Hair Curler Wand for Beachy Waves: Beauty Works Professional Styler Tight ringlet curls aren't for everyone, and if you want to achieve looser, voluminous curls the Beauty Works Professional Styler is a great choice. It's got a fantastic temperature range of 80-220C, making it suitable for all hair types. Like all the other hair curling wands on this round-up, I found it easy to wrap my hair around the barrel. I was grateful for its longer 18.5cm length, since it meant there was plenty of space to wrap my long hair, even when I used thicker sections. The curler comes with a heat-proof glove, but I still thought the cool-touch tip provided stability during styling. The resulting curls were loose and healthy-looking. In my tests, the curls lasted throughout the day without dropping much. When they did drop, the result was a loose, faux blow-dried look. This is typical of wider curling barrels like this one, but you can use hairspray if you're keen to avoid this. Sadly, the ceramic barrel doesn't have any shine-boosting mineral infusions, but that is reflected in this curler's price point. If you want an affordable curler that's suitable for all hair types, the Beauty Works Professional Styler is a great option. That is, as long as you don't want to create tight curls. Key specifications 7. Best Comfortable Hair Curler: Hot Tools Curl Bar Curling hair with a typical iron requires holding your arms above your head, which can make your arms ache over time. Those who struggle to lift curlers above their heads will benefit from the 90-degree shape of the Hot Tools Curl bar. When styling using this tool, you can keep both arms at shoulder height, with the curling barrel held at an angle toward the ground. This, paired with its lightweight construction, minimises arm aches. The curler has a great temperature range of 160-230C, which can be adjusted in 10C increments by turning the control dial at the barrel's rear. A small screen displays the temperature you've selected and its LED ring light lets you know when the curler has reached its target temperature. Hot Tools has also added a built-in timer to the device, which you can set anywhere between five and ten seconds. Once set, press the screen in and the timer will start, emitting a buzz when the desired time has passed. This takes all the guesswork out of curling, meaning any amateur can master the art painlessly. The only gripe I had with this curler is that its cool touch tip is wider than the 25mm barrel. This made it more difficult to slide curls off the barrel. It's not a deal breaker, but it was slightly frustrating. Key specifications For a long time, I thought people who could curl their hair with straighteners were magicians. That was until I tried the Cloud Nine Contouring Iron Pro. This clever design features interlocking curved plates, which make it far easier to curl the hair around the straightener without snags or pulls. Other straighteners, like the Cloud Nine Original straighteners can be used to create curls, but I find the flat plates on this more difficult to use. It still took me a few tries to get the twisting and turning technique right, but once I'd mastered the art I could get my thick head of hair curly in under 20 minutes. And, like the Cloud Nine Curling Wand I recommend above, it's got a brilliant temperature range that's not only suitable for all hair types but can style hair at lower temperatures. I particularly like the styler's 'revive' mode, which reduces the temperature to 150C and adds a subtle vibration to the plates. This allows a smoother glide over the hair and gives longer-lasting styles at lower temperatures. Thanks to the straightener's mineral-infused plates, the results in my hair were always glossy and healthy. Further, these created some of the longest lasting curls I've ever encountered. If you're on the hunt for a versatile styling tool that can curl and straighten hair, this is a top contender. Key specifications 9. Best Heated Rollers: BaByliss Thermo-Ceramic Rollers Imagine a world where your hair could style and set itself in the time it takes you to do your makeup. That isn't too distant a reality when you use heated rollers. The best I've tested are the BaByliss Thermo-Ceramic rollers. This convenient kit comes with 20 rollers ranging between 20 and 33mm in diameter. The smallest create tight ringlets, while the largest work beautifully to create a bouncy, curly blow-dry effect. The rollers come in a heating box with variable temperatures. My thick hair was best styled using the higher temperatures but I wish the dial was clearly labelled with temperatures, since all you get is a vague indication of heat level. Inserting the rollers took a bit of practice. Since each is covered in a soft fabric, the rollers could easily grip onto the hair after the first turn, but getting the ends of the hair wrapped was trickier. Thankfully, I didn't find the heated rollers too hot to touch. That meant I could hold the cool end in one hand and wrap my hair with the other without burning myself. The set comes with 20 pins which secure the rollers to your head. I only managed to secure a roller with these pins once, as they're very tricky to insert into the hair and roller without losing tension. I much preferred using the plastic clips to secure the rollers, since these could clip over the top of the rollers. It's just a shame there's only ten of these included in the set. All in all though, securing a full head of rollers took under five minutes, and I loved being able to carry on with the rest of my routine knowing my hair was sorted. Removing the rollers left me with gorgeous bouncy curls that, without hairspray, lasted a good half day without dropping. Key specifications Hair curler FAQs What type of hair curler is best for the style I want? Most hair curlers can provide a range of styles depending on how you use them. However, as a general rule these are the tools that celebrity stylist Melissa Timperley recommends using to achieve the style you want: How do I choose the right barrel size? Barrel size is just as important as curler design when it comes to achieving the right look. Thankfully, it's simple to understand. Timperley says, 'The larger the barrel, the looser the wave.' Below is a more specific list of styles and the barrel size you need to achieve them. How can I curl my hair without causing too much heat damage? Heat damage is inevitable when styling your hair with a heated curler, but there are steps you can take to prevent heat damage. Timperley recommends always starting with heat protectant. 'Always use a heat protectant when the hair is wet before drying and add another one like an aerosol spray when the hair is dry for double protection. Unite 7 Seconds Glossing Spray is my favourite for dry hair,' she says. Her other tips include using a low temperature for your hair type, not holding curls on the heat for longer than 10 seconds and letting the curls cool before brushing. What's the difference between ceramic, titanium and tourmaline curling barrels? Ceramic curling barrels are great for most hair types, since they heat evenly and help to reduce frizz. That's why most of the curlers on this round-up use ceramic barrels. Titanium curling barrels are better for thick or coarse hair. They 'heat quickly and stay hot. The plates also stay super smooth so it doesn't snag the hair,' says Timperley. Tourmaline, on the other hand, is best for frizzy or dry hair. 'Tourmaline helps add shine and reduce static due to working with negative ions,' she says. This works in a similar way to the 'ionic' technology you might find in a hair dryer, where negative ions help provide a smoother, frizz-free finish. How do I use a curling wand safely? Do I need a glove or mat? Curling irons heat up to very high temperatures, so accidentally burning your skin on a curler can be extremely painful. Likewise, your hair curler can singe and melt the furniture it rests on, so it's always a good idea to use a heat-proof glove and mat. Timperley says: 'When working with hot tongs it's advised to use a glove especially if you're a newbie to styling your hair. Heat-resistant gloves help you build confidence without burning your fingers.' Her other tips include using curlers on clean, dry and protected hair, curling away from the face at the front, letting the curler cool down before packing it away and never leaving the curler on unattended.

Wimbledon star 'banned by his sponsor' from selling his broken rackets for £5,200
Holger Rune appears to have landed himself in hot water with one of his sponsors after two of his broken rackets appeared on his official online shop. Rune crashed out of Wimbledon in the first round, falling to a five set defeat by Chile's Nicolas Jarry, losing 4-6 4-6 7-5 6-3 6-4 as the eighth seed was one of the early big names to fall. The Dane's official website Shop Holger Rune saw two rackets appear for sale, at the steep price of $7,231 (£5,291) given that they were effectively useless. 'Holger Rune's smashed rackets are ultra-exclusive collector's items, used in official matches and available in very limited quantities,' the item description on the website explained. 'Why? Because Holger Rune rarely lets frustration get the better of him. But when it does, the moment - and the racket - tell a story.' However, on Tuesday morning they were no longer being listed, with only his match outfits and other merchandising accessories still available, with manufacturer Babolat criticising the decision to put them up for sale in the first place. Holger Rune's official website saw two broken racquets listed for £5,291 ($7,231) which have now been taken down 'It's not our intention to promote broken rackets,' Babolat chief Marion Cornu is reported to have told CLAY and RG Media. 'We're in talks with his agent. Obviously, it's not our intention to promote broken racquets,' Cornu added at the 150th anniversary celebrations for Babolat. 'We have to be consistent with our values, so we're working on that issue with his representatives.' According to CLAY, Rune's team confirmed that none of his agents or those close to him had been contacted by Babolat. The outlet adds that the team behind his website chose to take them down as they were reluctant to attract any unwanted media attention and distract the Dane. Only one of the rackets was sold, with all the money reportedly to be donated to charity.

Amazon Prime Day 2025: what will the best deals be?
Amazon Prime Day 2025 will run from Tuesday July 8 to Friday July 11. It's the first time that this summer sale, exclusive to Amazon Prime subscribers, has been scheduled to last four days. This could be a good time to make your next big purchase. The best Amazon Prime Day deals are invariably on Amazon's own products such as Echo Dot speakers, Kindle e-Readers, Fire TVs and Ring video doorbells, as well as their own-label clothing and household products. See their Prime Day page for an idea of the range. This year, Amazon have promised savings on brands including Dyson, Shark, Lego, Ninja, Sonos, Bose and CeraVe – although you should always make sure you're getting a genuine bargain before making a purchase. Past years have seen genuine discounts on some of the best electric toothbrushes and clothes steamers we've reviewed and some of the most sought-after headphones, including Apple Airpods. Below, you can read our predictions for the best deals to expect on Amazon Prime Day this year, based on previous sales. Many of our top-rated products are discounted in these events. First though, here are the answers to some common questions. When is Amazon Prime Day 2025 in the UK? It will start at midnight on the morning of Tuesday July 8 and end at midnight on the evening of Friday July 11. Do I need to be an Amazon Prime member to get Prime Day deals in the UK? Yes, only subscribers to Amazon Prime will get the Prime Day discounts. Happily, that includes free trial members, who can benefit from 30 days' Prime membership before having to pay the standard £8.99 a month or £95 a year. Prime for students is half the price and free for the first six months. You have to prove you are enrolled on a course. With an Amazon Prime subscription you get unlimited premium delivery and access to Prime Video, Prime Music, Prime Reading and other benefits including lightning deals. Read our Amazon Prime review to find out more. Is Amazon Prime Day only once a year? No, there are two Prime Day sale events. The first is in mid-July and the second, sometimes called Prime Big Deals Day, is in mid-October. How can I find the best deals? The best way is to bookmark this page, which is constantly updated with the best genuine deals. If you know what you want to buy, you could make a wish list on Amazon or at a site such as Pricerunner which can alert you when prices drop. Read my guide to finding the best deals for more tips. Amazon promote their AI assistant Rufus as a good way to get deal alerts tailored to you, but remember to check that anything it recommends is a genuine deal. Are Prime Day deals genuinely good value? Prices are inflated beforehand in many cases. For example, on June 11 the price of the Fire HD 8 tablet was suddenly increased by £30 and the Fire HD 8 Kids tablet was increased by £65, a leap of over 75 per cent. So it's important to check using a pricetracker such as CamelCamelCamel or Keepa. These will show you the price history of any product on Amazon. At Telegraph Recommended, we only recommend deals if they are genuinely at their lowest price. Claimed discounts of 50 per cent or more are usually not real: the actual discount is often less than five per cent. Anything over 10 per cent off the real average price is genuinely good value. This year, we wanted to ask how you felt about Prime Day. 152 readers took part in a discussion in June*. While some had been happy to purchase gifts, electronics, pet supplies or beauty products in Prime Day sales, an equal number doubted the value of the deals. Here are some of their comments: Can I return items I buy on Amazon Prime Day? Yes, items bought on Prime Day have the same returns policy as on any other day of the year. Amazon allows returns within 30 days of receipt if the goods are in an unused and undamaged condition, with a few exceptions. Some people think they can buy a discounted item on Prime Day and return it for a refund after the price has gone back up, making a profit. This doesn't work. You will only be refunded what you paid. Why you can trust Telegraph Recommended No manufacturer ever sees Telegraph Recommended articles before publication and we don't accept payment in exchange for favourable reviews, nor do we allow brands to pay for placement in our articles. We do extensive research and use price-tracking tools to find the best deals, which are all reviewed by our in-house team of consumer journalists before publication. Visit our Who We Are page to learn more. What will go on sale this Prime Day? This is never known ahead of time, but we can make reasonable predictions based on past Amazon sale events. Here's a selection of Telegraph Recommended-approved products which saw genuine discounts in Amazon's Spring Deal Days in March. 1. Amazon Fire HD 8 tablet Current price: £99.99 Average price over last six months: £80 Price in the March 2025 Amazon Spring Sale: £54.99 Best budget tablet The Fire HD 8 launched last year as a lower-cost option in Amazon's own tablet range. In March's sale it dropped to £55, which is £25 less than usual. The Fire HD 8 doesn't have the most high-end spec, but this tablet was still good enough to score 7/10 in our recent review. It's lightweight, has decent battery life, and helps keep you connected with your chosen streaming, social media and communication apps, and was named the best budget tablet in our best tablets roundup. 2. Amazon Fire TV Stick HD (newest gen) Current price: £39.99 Average price over last six months: £37 Price in the March Amazon Spring Sale: £24.99 Amazon's latest basic streamer This is the newest version of Amazon's streaming stick for non-4K TVs, and has key services such as Netflix, Prime Video, BBC iPlayer and Disney Plus streaming in an aesthetically updated package. In our review of the Fire Stick HD, the device's exceptional voice commands, setup process and streaming services contributed to an impressive overall score of 8/10. Usually, one of these smart little sticks would set you back about £37 but you could pick one up for £25 in the Spring Deals sale. We expect to see similar discounts for Prime Day. Apple's devices don't often see discounts so when one appears, even just a small one, it's worth considering. The iPad mini (A17 Pro) is the latest compact tablet from Apple, usually sold for about £450. It dropped to £430 in Amazon's last sale event. We picked it as the best tablet for everyday use in our guide to the best tablets. In her iPad mini (A17 Pro) review, Britta O'Boyle said: 'There's a lovely, lightweight design, a bright and vibrant display and swish performance. The iPad mini (A17 Pro) is a superb compact tablet that's perfect for everyday use and very portable.' The Amazon Fire HD 8 Kids is our overall top pick of the best tablets for kids. In the March sale the price dropped to its lowest ever at £69.99, compared to the average price of £114. It has a great battery life and the price includes a two-year, worry-free guarantee where Amazon will replace it if it breaks. Reviewer Britta O'Boyle described the parental controls on the device as excellent, as the Amazon parent dashboard enables you to ensure children can only access age-appropriate content. She also said the dashboard lets you monitor screen time, approve app requests and block websites remotely from your phone, and she praised the included robust case with its built-in stand too. 5. Amazon Kindle Current price: £94.99 Average price over last six months: £94 Price in the March 2025 Amazon Spring Sale: £79.99 Best budget e-reader Amazon's entry-level Kindle dropped from £95 to £80 for Black Friday and again in the March sale. A similar hefty discount for Prime Day looks very likely. The Amazon Kindle delivers a superb reading experience, with access to an expansive library of e-books. It offers an incredibly portable design too, allowing you to catch up on your latest read whether you're on a sun lounger or squashed onto a packed tube. Reviewer Alan Martin said: 'While the costlier Paperwhite tops our list of the best Kindles, the Kindle 2024 offers 90 per cent of the features and that will be sufficient for most readers.' 6. Sony WH1000XM4 Current price: £189 Average price over last six months: £197 Price in the March 2025 Amazon Spring Sale: £177.99 Best noise-cancelling headphones Awarded Best Buy in our guide to the best noise-cancelling headphones, the Sony WH1000XM4 dropped to £178 in the March sale and in the past have been available for as little as £175, a good price for such an excellent pair of cans. They are not the brand's newest headphones. The current M6 version has additional noise-cancelling features, but these still have over 30 hours of battery with noise-cancelling turned on and they deliver a superb mix of performance and price. Reviewer Rob Waugh said: 'In the under-£200 bracket, these are undisputed sound quality champions, with breathtakingly realistic music where the vocals sound like you're in the room with the person.' Our favourite smart alarm clock, the Echo Spot dropped to £55 in the March sale and has been known to drop to £45. Perfect for a bedside table, the Echo Spot has a display to show you the time and other important information, like the weather. It also has built-in Alexa, allowing you to perform various functions from controlling your smart home devices to playing your favourite music or podcasts, and the design is small and compact so it doesn't attract too much unwanted attention. In our Echo Spot review, Alan Martin said it was a 'charming little smart speaker' with the 'sound quality good enough for the bedroom and Alexa a helpful assistant'. Ahead of the sale, Amazon has already dropped the price of its own Fire TV by about £30 but you might be advised to hold off until Prime Day before buying. It dropped by a further £30 during the Spring Sale. What do we think of the Amazon Fire TV? In our round-up of the best 4K TVs our television expert, Chris Hall, called it the best smart 4K TV, with its Alexa voice assistant integration and breadth of apps. Screen quality is superb for the price, too, with the TV adapting to the light levels in your room and tweaking the picture accordingly. 9. Ring Battery Video Doorbell Pro Current price: £199.99 Average price over last six months: £178 Price in the March 2025 Amazon Spring Sale: £129 Best Ring wireless doorbell If you're looking to improve your home security you can do a lot worse than the Ring Video Doorbell Pro. Loaded to the hilt with useful features, the Video Doorbell Pro is the only Ring camera with head-to-toe imaging, ideal for identifying packages left on your doorstep. It's currently more expensive than usual, so wait for the (probable) hefty Prime Day discount before buying. In our review of the best video doorbells, our reviewer Kulwinder Rai found that the fisheye camera offered plenty of detail and was particularly impressed with the Colour Night Vision, allowing him to identify nearby car number plates even in low light. Prime Day could be a smart time to pick up a previous-generation flagship smartphone for less. Samsung's Galaxy S24 has since been replaced by the Galazy S25 Ultra, but the differences were not huge. If you can pick last year's model up for the £659 we saw in the March sale, you will save a fortune. You get the same set of Galaxy AI tricks, including the ability to remove unwanted objects from the background of your pictures with just a tap and instant translations during calls. The display is immaculate, too, with true-to-life colour accuracy and a high level of brightness. Apple's top-of-the-range iPhone is already back down to its Spring Sale price. At just five per cent off, this doesn't meet our usual 10 per cent threshold, but keep an eye out: there's a small chance it could dip further on Prime Day. Even if not, a £25 discount is better than none. The iPhone 16 is undoubtedly expensive, but worth the outlay. You can read all about why our reviewer Britta O'Boyle rates it (including for its cameras and fast performance) in our best iPhone guide. Best predicted home deals 12. Hoover HL5 Current price: £169 Average price over last six months: £225 Price in the March 2025 Amazon Spring Sale: £149 Best lift-away vacuum for pet hair As any pet owner knows, it takes a special kind of vacuum cleaner to gracefully gather animal hairs, especially if you have a long-haired cat or dog. One of the best you can get is the Hoover HL5 Pets, which we consider one of the top vacuum cleaners for pet hair, earning a score of 9/10 during our hands-on testing. We regard this model as the best lift-away vacuum cleaner for pet hair, thanks especially to its impressive suction. The cleaner's HEPA 13 filter will help prep a feline-owning home for visitors who are allergic to cats, too. It was discounted by over £75 in Amazon's spring sale, so should be worth keeping a very close eye on. 13. GTech AirRAM MK2 K9 Current price: £224 Average price over last six months: £238 Price in the March 2025 Amazon Spring Sale: £183.99 Best pet vacuum cleaner for older users The GTech AirRAM dropped to £184 in the March sale, its lowest price ever. It's our top pick for older users in our best pet vacuum cleaners guide thanks to its lightweight build and ease of use. When I reviewed it, I said: 'Although the AirRAM K9 is far less powerful than the other vacuums we tried, the suction is actually pretty great. The large, rectangular head leaves clear, broad stripes where it's been, like a proper floor cleaner should.' 14. Philips 5000 Series 9L NA555/09 Dual Basket Steam Air Fryer Current price: £189.99 Average price over last six months: £211 Price in the March 2025 Amazon Spring Sale: £169.99 Best dual air fryer for steaming The Philips 5000 Series 9L NA555/09 Dual Basket Steam Air Fryer dipped to a record low £169.99 in the March sale, which is a saving of £40 on the average price. When we reviewed it for our best air fryer guide, we loved the steam function and the option to cook both frozen and fresh fries. Reviewer Rebecca Shepherd said the Philips 5000 Series air fried food brilliantly and 'each test resulted in dishes that were golden brown, deliciously crisp and nowhere near dry'. 15. De'Longhi Rivelia Automatic Current price: £649 Average price over last six months: £714 Price in the March 2025 Amazon Spring Sale: £599.99 Best bean-to-cup coffee machine Our Best Buy in our best bean-to-cup coffee machine guide dropped to its lowest ever price in the Spring event, about £150 less than it's currently on sale for. It offers a fantastic range of coffee options, is very easy to use and has a compact footprint. Reviewer Anna Tobin said in her De'Longhi Rivelia Automatic review: 'When tested against other bean-to-cup coffee machines the De'Longhi Rivelia came out as our favourite overall because it produces several different types of great-tasting coffee and it's super simple to operate and pretty easy to keep clean'. 16. Ninja Extended Life 20cm Ceramic Non-Stick Frying Pan Current price: £44.55 Average price over last six months: £49 Price in the March 2025 Amazon Spring Sale: £43.99 Best ceramic frying pan Unfortunately, we can't guarantee Prime Day savings on the HexClad frying pan, which we consider the best frying pan you can buy. However, the Ninja Extended Life 20cm Ceramic Non-Stick Frying Pan was discounted by 20 per cent in the Spring sale and could see similar savings on Prime Day. Ninja cookware has a lot of buzz around it, but it lived up to its reputation when our writer Tomé Morrissy-Swan tried it out. He said: 'It has a sturdy feel for such a small frying pan, although it isn't heavy. The ceramic non-stick surface is super slick. Fried eggs and omelettes cooked without oil slid out of the pan straight onto my toast.' 17. Cuisinart One Cup Grind And Brew Coffee Machine Current price: £132.99 Average price over last six months: £141 Price in the March 2025 Amazon Spring Sale: £107.98 Best budget coffee machine The current price is about average for this compact bean-to-cup machine, which is a good reason to hold off buying for a little while. The March sale saw its price slashed by £33. Our coffee expert Silvana Franco was impressed with this affordable machine, naming it the best budget-friendly option in her best coffee machines review round-up. It's not going to give you barista-quality coffee or fancy features such as grind size adjustment, but what you do get is an easy way to make classic, filter-style black coffee at home. 18. Breville Iced Coffee Maker Current price: £32.99 Average price over last six months: £31 Price in the March 2025 Amazon Spring Sale: £24.99 Best iced coffee maker We named this model the best iced coffee maker in our test of the best coffee machines. You use it pretty much like a filter coffee maker, and place a cup with ice beneath the coffee as it pours out (possibly squirting in a syrup for added flavour), and is an easy-to-use budget-friendly option. It's never expensive, but was reduced by 20 per cent in the March sale, which is about as good a genuine discount as you can get in Amazon sales. 19. Bissell Revolution HydroSteam Current price: £399 Average price over last six months: £359 Price in the March 2025 Amazon Spring Sale: £299 Best carpet cleaner overall The March discount on the Bissell Revolution HydroSteam brought the top-performing product from our best carpet cleaners round-up down to its lowest price ever, at £299. Bissell's carpet cleaner is equipped with innovative steam cleaning tech that impressed our reviewer Kulwinder Rai. 'This machine categorically outperforms every other consumer-grade wet carpet cleaner I've tested, which is no mean feat,' he said. 'Even deeply embedded, dried-in blood and wine stains succumbed to its ministrations, once given a couple of passes of pure steam pre-treatment.' Best predicted fitness and beauty deals 20. Panasonic ES-EY90-A511 Wet and Dry Epilator Current price: £199.99 Average price over last six months: £125 Price in the March 2025 Amazon Spring Sale: £99.99 Best epilator overall The Panasonic ES-EY90-A511 Wet and Dry Epilator was crowned Best Buy in our best epilator guide and saw a very decent discount of £25 in the Spring sale. Reviewer Annabel Fenwick Elliott said: 'What a fantastic piece of kit. Not only was this the most efficient model for epilation, thanks to its somewhat-scary looking, combine harvester-esque double-row of tweezer discs, it also comes with an impressive array of extra accessories – including, most importantly, a small head that you can use on areas like the chin. This also makes it the best epilator for the face, and even toes.' 21. Waterpik Cordless Advanced Water Flosser Current price: £80.33 Average price over last six months: £90 Price in the March 2025 Amazon Spring Sale: £69.99 Best water flosser We named the Waterpik Cordless Advanced Water Flosser the Best Buy in our best water flosser guide, so we were thrilled to see it reduced to £70 both on Black Friday and in the Amazon Spring sale. It's simple to use, packs away neatly and it offers three intensity modes. Reviewer Rebecca Astill said she thought this water flosser was 'almost perfect' when she reviewed it. 'I'd recommend starting out on the low mode as water flossing is quite a strange sensation if you haven't tried it before. I've built my way up and now favour the high mode and I've really noticed a difference in my gum line and overall mouth health.' Similar to the far more expensive Oral-B iO10 but costing much less, the iO3 has a handy brush head replacement reminder and a built-in pressure sensor, with the toothbrush flashing either red or green depending on how hard you might be pressing when brushing. Our reviewer, Rebecca Astill, said: 'The surprisingly quiet sonic vibrations do provide a thorough clean of the mouth, reaching all the hard to reach corners and crevices.' It's already reduced by £44 from its fairly steep average price, but we predict the price on Prime Day could fall even lower, as it did in the Spring sale. * The research was conducted by the Telegraph Contributors panel with 152 Telegraph readers, aged 18+ in the UK between 18.06.2025-23.06.2025.
