The Kansas City Chiefs are gearing up to play their first game since February in a preseason exhibition against the Arizona Cardinals.
The Chiefs are desperately trying to bounce back after their devastating loss to the Philadelphia Eagles in Super Bowl LIX and will make a point to have a strong opening drive.
Kansas City's starters aren't expected to see much time on the field, so the primary focus will be on the Chiefs' depth. Rookie offensive lineman Josh Simmons has been a standout at training camp this year and can help solve the glaring problems on offense if he can have a good game.

Chiefs vs. Broncos prediction:
Chiefs 21, Cardinals 34: Kansas City's starters will see the field for only a few short minutes before the second- and third-string players take over, so don't expect to see an offensive explosion for most of the game. Quarterbacks Gardner Minshew and Bailey Zappe will be able to provide more than serviceable shot-calling. The Cardinals are a much-improved team this season and will put up enough of a fight to squeeze out a win against the AFC champions.

The Star, citing multiple sources, reported Reid was working alone in his office in early May 2024 when a bullet fired from outside the building broke through glass and left a hole through the window and blinds. It got lodged in a wall between his bathroom and the entry door to his office. The team installed bulletproof glass soon afterward. The Star reported two more bullets hit the facility, with one striking the third floor and another an outdoor air-conditioning unit. Few people in the organization knew about the incident. A Chiefs spokesman declined comment to the AP on Wednesday night. The incident occurred just months after Reid led the Chiefs to a Super Bowl championship repeat and their third title in a five-year span. They won the AFC again last season, only to lose to Philadelphia. ADVERTISEMENT Reid has a 273-146-1 record in 12 seasons with the Chiefs and 14 with the Eagles. Arizona Cardinals Week 3 opponent San Francisco 49ers have WR problems

The Cardinals play the 49ers in Week 3. They are dealing with injuries, suspensions and more at wide receiver. The Arizona Cardinals will play the NFC West rival San Francisco 49ers on the road in Week 3. They will be facing a team with a series of problems at wide receiver. They traded Deebo Samuel to the Washington Commanders in the offseason, and they still have quality offensive players like running back Christian McCaffrey and tight end George Kittle, but the receiver room has been riddled with injuries. Here is a rundown of what we know about the 49ers and their trouble at receiver. The 49ers have a mix of injuries, suspensions and contract issues. They made a trade to possibly alleviate some of the issues. Brandon Aiyuk not ready to come back Aiyuk, who tore his ACL and MCL last season, is on PUP and will start the season there. Head coach Kyle Shanahan expects him to be back about Week 6, which is three weeks after the Cardinals play the 49ers for the first time. Jauan Jennings hurt, in contract dispute Jennings has been sidelined with a calf injury. Entering the final year of his contract with no guarantees, and coming off his best season in 2024 when he just missed 1,000 yards, he wants a new deal. Demarcus Robinson suspended Robinson, signed in free agency, and expected to be one of their top three receivers, has been suspended for the first three games of the season, meaning he will miss the game against the Cardinals. He was suspended because of a DUI. Jordan Watkins injured Watkins suffered a high ankle sprain. Those will keep players out four to six weeks. Russell Gage injured Gage doesn't have a long-term injury, but he will be out a week or so with a knee sprain. Jacob Cowing injured Cowing, drafted by the Niners in the fourth round last year and who had 28 catches as a rookie, has reinjured his hamstring. Trade! 49ers acquire Skyy Moore The 49ers, adding bodies to their receiver room, sent a sixth-round pick to the Kansas City Chiefs for a seventh-round pick and receiver Skyy Moore. The former second-round pick only played in six games last season and did not have a reception. 49ers WR depth chart The 49ers' receiver depth chart looks like this: Starters Next four: The rest Get more Cardinals and NFL coverage from Cards Wire's Jess Root and others by listening to the latest on the Rise Up, See Red podcast. Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. The 2024 season was one the Kansas City Chiefs would presumably like to forget. Losing Super Bowl LIX to the Philadelphia Eagles was a heartbreaking moment unto itself, but three of the most important members of the organization had personal terrifying close calls away from the field. Quarterback Patrick Mahomes and tight end Travis Kelce were both robbed during home burglaries 24 hours apart back in October, and it was revealed on Wednesday that head coach Andy Reid had a close call of his own in May of last year when a bullet was fired into his office, according to the Kansas City Star. More NFL: 49ers Could Face NFL Punishment Over Brandon Aiyuk Decision Per the report, a bullet broke through the glass in Reid's office at the team's practice facility while he was inside and hit a wall between his office door and bathroom roughly 15 feet away from his desk. Because of the incident, the Chiefs took extra precaution to ensure Reid's safety while inside his office. "The most prominent active head coach in the NFL now works protected by bulletproof glass, sources said, a safety measure installed soon after," Sam McDowell of the Kansas City Star reported. Three shots were reportedly fired in total — one into Reid's office, one that hit the third floor, and another that struck an air-conditioning unit. The Chiefs kept the incident under wraps for the last 15 months, and things were kept so close to the vest that many who work in the building didn't even know about the incident until the Star's report broke. "It had previously not been widely known in the 15 months after its occurrence — even among those in the building," McDowell wrote. "For many Chiefs players and staff, The Star's report will be the first they have learned of the gunfire that hit the facility."
