IGP: High-level committee to enhance SOP on police convoys, personnel movement safety after fatal Teluk Intan FRU crash

Malay Mail16-05-2025
TELUK INTAN, May 16 — A high-level committee will be formed to discuss improvements to the safety of Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) convoys or personnel movements.
Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Razarudin Husain said all safety improvement aspects will be discussed by the committee.
'We are moving towards that direction, the Internal Security and Public Order Department (KDNKA) and I will discuss (it) in the high-level committee, it's time to discuss the best measures to protect the welfare of the police and their families, an SOP (standard operating procedure) will be issued soon,' he said.
He made the remarks while visiting Federal Reserve Unit (FRU) personnel injured in Tuesday's collision along Jalan Chikus-Sungai Lampam here at Teluk Intan Hospital today, together with FRU Commander SAC Rosli Md Yusof.
Razarudin shared that the improvements would also prioritise the safety aspects of vehicles carrying the families of police personnel, including their children to schools, adding that the police were studying the use of buses and dashcams for vehicles.
On the injured personnel in Tuesday's crash, he said that four were still being treated in Teluk Intan Hospital's Intensive Care Unit (ICU), one at the ICU of Raja Permaisuri Bainun Ipoh Hospital, and two in the normal ward of Teluk Intan Hospital.
The police will also ensure the welfare and assistance to the victims' next-of-kin, including their children, he added.
'We will ensure their needs and welfare from A to Z. We will try to help if there are other requests from their next-of-kin,' Razarudin said.
Suggestions have been made by various parties that the police review safety aspects of assets carrying personnel for assignments following Tuesday's collision that killed nine FRU personnel in Teluk Intan. — Bernama

Akmal to face charge for ‘disrupting public order' over Facebook content

Dr Akmal Saleh said police had informed him that he would be charged at the magistrates' court in Bukit Mertajam, Penang, on Friday at 8am. PETALING JAYA : The Attorney-General's Chambers (AGC) has decided to charge Umno Youth chief Dr Akmal Saleh over statements he made on his Facebook page, 'Akmal Saleh', which were said to disrupt public order. In a statement, the AGC said it would proceed to charge Akmal under Section 505(b) of the Penal Code for making statements conducing to public mischief. However, it did not specify the Facebook content in question. In a Facebook video, Akmal said police had informed him that he would be charged at the magistrates' court in Bukit Mertajam, Penang, on Friday, at 8am. He said he would cut short his trip to Mecca, after arriving there just yesterday, to face the charge against him. Last Friday, it was reported that police had launched a probe into a viral Facebook video featuring Akmal making statements that were considered to be 'hate speech' that could disturb public peace. It was not clear which video is the subject of the investigation. However, in recent days, Akmal has posted videos concerning a Jalur Gemilang mishap at a Penang hardware store, where the national flag was hoisted upside down. In one of Akmal's videos, he said prosecutors had two days to charge the shop owner, failing which he said he would personally 'teach this 'Ah Pek' (uncle) how to correctly put up a flag'. Police Uncover Shocking Pornography Operation 'Run By 12-Year-Old Girl'

Subscribe to our FREE The Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) have uncovered a disturbing online pornography operation orchestrated by a 12-year-old girl through WhatsApp, Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail revealed in Parliament today (19 August). According to Harian Metro, he said the operation was successfully 'The case we uncovered involved a group of schoolchildren. The website was created by a 12-year-old girl who collaborated with four of her friends,' Saifuddin said during the Minister's Question Time (MQT) in the Dewan Rakyat. According to the Home Minister, the group had set up a WhatsApp group with 762 members, where participants shared explicit images of themselves and sold them online. 'The girl even dropped out of school because her monthly income from this activity far exceeded that of her parents. So she no longer saw any reason to continue her education,' he added. Saifuddin was responding to a question from Jerai MP Sabri Azit (PN) on how far the Home Ministry has worked with other ministries to proactively address online criminal activities such as 'swinger' culture, to prevent them from becoming ingrained social trends. Addressing the broader challenge, Saifuddin acknowledged the complexities involved in handling children involved in criminal activities, noting that they are subject to different legal frameworks. 'For instance, these children cannot be brought before an open court. So how do we take action? Our laws are diverse. If we try to take legal action, SUHAKAM (Human Rights Commission of Malaysia) may argue that they are still children. 'And then there's the question of what happens to their future? So when we encounter cases like this, enforcement must be approached carefully, often requiring input from multiple agencies. That's our modus operandi,' he explained. Saifuddin: Over 100,000 foreign construction workers untraceable after legalisation scheme

KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 19 — A total of 100,646 foreign workers holding Temporary Work Visit Passes (PLKS) in the construction sector failed to be detected after the foreign worker whitewashing programme implemented by the Construction Labour Exchange Centre Bhd (CLAB), according to the Home Minister. According to Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail, the government will implement measures and punitive actions against employers and foreign workers in the construction sector who commit offences under existing regulations. 'They come in, they hold the construction sector PLKS, but when whitewashing is carried out by CLAB, we cannot find any impact. If they misuse the passes, we will take action according to the offence. 'If their passes have expired, they should have signed a check-out memo and left the country. If they do not leave the country, we will track them down,' he said. He said this at the press conference of the Joint Committee Meeting between the Minister of Home Affairs and the Minister of Human Resources, Steven Sim, on the Management of Foreign Workers today. According to Saifuddin, the matter was revealed following a presentation by the Construction Industry Development Board (CIDB) during the meeting. 'We will see what Act they violated and punitive action will be taken,' he said. Previously, he was reported to have said that applications for foreign worker employment quotas are now only allowed on a case-by-case basis involving three main sectors and 10 selected sub-sectors. He said the decision was made as a result of the same meeting, with the sectors being plantations, mining and construction. — Bernama
