SHANGHAI: The Tourism Development Department at the Ministry of Primary Resources and Tourism showcased its latest campaign, 'Breathe in Brunei' at the Shanghai World Expo Exhibition and Convention Centre in China for ITB China 2025, which highlighted Brunei as a retreat to relax, recharge and enjoy a slower pace away from the busy city life.
The campaign invites Chinese travellers to reconnect with nature and discover Brunei as a peaceful, rejuvenating escape. Inspired by feedback from Chinese visitors, the campaign positions Brunei as a peaceful destination – offering clean air, unspoiled natural beauty and calming moments.
ITB China is a three-day business-to-business (B2B) travel trade fair focused exclusively on the Chinese travel industry. The event serves as a platform for international travel suppliers to connect with China's outbound travel market. Leveraging pre-scheduled appointments, targeted networking opportunities and an engaging conference programme, ITB China facilitates business exchanges and industry insights. China remains one of the most promising outbound travel markets for South-East Asia and Brunei's participation at ITB China 2025 signals a proactive approach to tap into this potential.
Strengthening this effort, the recent introduction of visa-free entry for Chinese nationals of up to 14 days adds further value to this initiative, making it easier for Chinese travellers to travel to Brunei.
Brunei saw a sharp rise in Chinese tourist arrivals, with figures jumping from 17,008 in 2023 to 39,007 in 2024, underscoring growing appeal as a destination. As part of the 'Breathe in Brunei' campaign, the Tourism Development Department has partnered with Ctrip, one of China's top travel online platforms. To strengthen destination awareness and encourage future collaborations, a series of familiarisation trips for Chinese key opinion leaders, media and travel agents are in the plan for the remaining months of 2025 to expand the campaign's reach.
To strengthen its presence in the Chinese outbound travel market, the Tourism Development Department participated alongside Royal Brunei Airlines and five local travel and hospitality partners. - Borneo Bulletin/ANN

Transport logistic 2025 kicks off in Munich with focus on AI, digitalization
MUNICH, Germany, June 2 (Xinhua) -- Transport logistic 2025, an international exhibition for logistics, mobility, IT and supply chain management, kicked off Monday in the southern German city of Munich. The event, which is held every two years in Munich, has attracted around 2,670 exhibitors from more than 70 countries and regions this year, with the organizer expecting some 80,000 professional visitors. "Transport logistic makes visible what often remains invisible in everyday life: Logistics is far more than trucks on the highway, it is the basis for the economy to function," said Stefan Rummel, chief executive officer of Messe Muenchen. Running through June 5, the four-day event places an emphasis on artificial intelligence (AI), digitalization, and cybersecurity, which are key topics shaping the future of the global logistics industry. Germany's Federal Minister of Transport Patrick Schnieder said at the opening ceremony that digitalization is a decisive lever for modern logistics. "Digital applications make processes more efficient, more intelligent and therefore easier," he said. He particularly emphasized the role of AI, saying that "It can help with planning optimal delivery routes, fleet management and predictive vehicle maintenance." Over 100 Chinese companies, including China COSCO Shipping Corporation Limited, China Railway Container Transport Corp., Ltd., and CRRC Corporation Limited, participated in this year's exhibition, showcasing their latest products, services, and innovations to the global audience. "At this year's exhibition, we showcased key achievements and ongoing efforts to build a world-class shipping technology company," Chen Bin, vice president of COSCO Shipping Europe, told Xinhua. "The highlights of COSCO at this year's fair include our efforts to advance the development of an integrated transport network across Europe and reaffirm our commitment to expanding global service capabilities. We also presented achievements in green and low-carbon technologies, smart shipping solutions, and innovations in digital supply chain management," he said.

Chinese tourist arrivals in Spain surge amid record-breaking travel year: data
BARCELONA, Spain, June 2 (Xinhua) -- The number of visitors from China rose by 26 percent in the first quarter of this year, building on a 66.7 percent increase recorded in 2024, when Spain welcomed 647,801 Chinese travelers, according to the Spanish Tourism Institute (Turespana). Chinese tourists are among the record-breaking influx of international visitors choosing Spain as a holiday destination, according to Spain's ministry of tourism. More than 25.6 million people visited Spain during the first four months of 2025, putting the country on course to reach a record 100 million international visitors this year, according to figures from the National Statistics Institute (INE) published on Monday by the tourism ministry. According to INE data, the rise in visitor numbers represents a 7.1 percent increase compared to the same period last year, when Spain set an all-time record of 93.8 million tourists. While most visitors came from European countries - particularly Britain (4.7 million), France (3.4 million), and Germany (3.3 million) - the number of visitors from non-European countries also increased by 6.5 percent. Turespana noted that the growing popularity of Spain among Chinese travelers is reflected in the doubling of direct flights between China and Spain since the pre-pandemic year of 2019, with 61 flights scheduled this summer. "Spain is consolidating its position as an on-trend European destination in the Chinese market," sources at the tourism institute told Xinhua.

China, Egypt ink deal on operation of CBD in New Administrative Capital
CAIRO, June 2 (Xinhua) -- Egypt's New Urban Communities Authority and a Chinese-Egyptian joint venture have signed a comprehensive operation and maintenance agreement for the Central Business District (CBD) in Egypt's New Administrative Capital. According to the agreement, Horizon Operations Management (Egypt) Co., Ltd. will be responsible for the operation of the CBD project, initially focusing on property and municipal management. According to a statement by the Egyptian cabinet, Egyptian Minister of Housing Sherif El-Sherbiny said during pre-signing talks that the agreement covers the maintenance and management of important facilities and the provision of integrated urban services to residents, tourists, and businesses in the CBD. El-Sherbiny emphasized that this move represents a significant transition in Egypt's approach to public facility management -- from traditional models to performance-based governance rooted in quality and sustainability. The signing ceremony on Sunday was also attended by Egyptian Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly, China's Vice Minister of Housing and Urban-Rural Development Dong Jianguo, and representatives of China State Construction Engineering Corporation, which led the construction of the CBD. Located in the heart of the desert some 50 km east of the capital Cairo, the CBD is one of the key projects of the China-Egypt joint construction of the Belt and Road Initiative. The project includes 20 commercial and residential skyscrapers as well as supporting municipal infrastructure, among which is a 385.8-meter-high iconic tower, the tallest building in Africa.
