One of Penn State's top in-state recruiting targets in the Class of 2027 has announced he is shutting down his recruitment and will stay locked in on his commitment to the Nittany Lions. Class of 2027 running back Kemon Spell, from McKeesport, Pennsylvania, has said he is shutting down his recruitment process and will stand firm with his commitment to Penn State.
Spell confirmed his latest decision in an interview with Happy Valley United's Dylan Dawson, via social media. The decision is a big one for James Franklin and his staff as they continue to try to keep some of the top players from the state, especially at the running back position, close to home. Securing a commitment from Spell keeps that trend going that has previously led to the commitments of players like Saquon Barkley, Miles Sanders, and Nicholas Singleton. Spell is next in line as one of the top-ranked players in Pennsylavnia and one of the top running backs nationally in the Class of 2027.
Spell is ranked as the no. 2 player overall in Pennsylavnia according to the latest 247Sports composite rankings, and he is the no. 2 running back in the nation according to the same ranking structure. He is rated as a four-star player by 247Sports and On3's industry ranking. On3 ranks Spell as the top player overall in Pennsylvania and the top-ranked running back in the nation.
Spell is a 5'-10", 195-pound running back and he committed to Penn State in August 2024. Since committing to Penn State, Spell ahs received offers from Notre Dame, Tennessee, and UCLA, but he has taken no additional visits of note.
It is still incredibly early to be focusing on such things at this point in time, but Penn State's Class of 2027 currently has three commits on the board and is ranked no. 1 in the nation by 247Sports. Penn State's Class of 2026 currently is ranked no. 8 in the nation by 247Sports.

Iowa women's basketball among elite 2026 recruit's final four schools

Iowa women's basketball among elite 2026 recruit's final four schools Iowa women's basketball got big recruiting news on Thursday. Five-star, class of 2026 wing McKenna Woliczko trimmed her top 10 schools down to a final four, including the Iowa Hawkeyes among that final four. Iowa joins Ohio State, South Carolina and USC among the final four choices for Woliczko. The 6-foot-2 wing from Archbishop Mitty High School in San Jose, California, has been on the Hawkeyes' radar for some time. Woliczko took an unofficial visit to Iowa last October. An elite recruit in the 2026 cycle, Woliczko is ranked as the No. 6 player nationally by ESPN, On3 and 247Sports. According to 247Sports, Woliczko is the country's No. 2 power forward and the No. 2 player from California. On3 rates Woliczko as the nation's top shooting guard and as the No. 2 player from California. According to On3's Talia Goodman, Woliczko has set official visits to South Carolina on June 30 and to Iowa on Aug. 28. "I have a really good relationship with all the coaches. I talk to them a lot and I just love them as people and I could see them coaching me. When I went on Iowa's campus in the fall, I really enjoyed the girls. I feel like all of them were very chill, but also they want to get better and play great basketball," Woliczko told Goodman of On3. "I also really loved the campus. It kind of had that smaller college town vibe and I really liked that. Obviously, they have a big fan base. I think that's really cool to have, with all those people supporting women's basketball. I thought that was super cool." Woliczko is currently working her way back from injury. The Cali product suffered a non-contact ACL injury just days into the new year on January 4. Woliczko averaged 20.2 points and 10.3 rebounds per game during her freshman season and then 22.0 points, 8.0 rebounds and 2.0 blocks per game with Archbishop Mitty during her sophomore campaign. Woliczko's original top 10 also featured Florida State, North Carolina, Notre Dame, Stanford, Texas and Vanderbilt. Florida State Lands Commitment from Four-Star Wide Receiver

Florida State Lands Commitment from Four-Star Wide Receiver originally appeared on Athlon Sports. Mike Norvell's Seminoles notched a big recruit today, earning a commitment from four-star wide receiver Brandon Bennett, according to Hayes Fawcett of On3 Recruits. Bennett had 25 offers and had visited Georgia before ultimately choosing to play in Tallahassee. Advertisement Bennett is ranked as the 33rd wide receiver in the Class of 2026, and the 218th recruit overall. This is the third wide receiver commitment for Florida State's 2026 recruiting class, as Bennett joins fellow Florida high school products Darryon Williams and Efrem White. Bennett is staying in-state for college, as the six-foot-tall receiver played his high school ball at American Heritage High School in Fort Lauderdale, Fla. A two-sport athlete, Bennett is a star on the track in addition to the gridiron. A three-time state qualifier for the 100-meter dash and a two-time qualifier for the 200-meter, Bennett looks to be a speedy addition to Florida State's roster. "Decorated track athlete that can challenge defenses vertically with his speed and acceleration." said 247 Sports Analyst Andrew Irvins. Florida State Seminoles head coach Mike Norvell during the second half against the Clemson Tigers at Doak S. Campbell Myers-Imagn Images In his 2024 season at American Heritage, Bennett helped lead the school to a Florida 4A state championship. He totaled 24 catches for 509 yards and seven touchdowns for the season. Bennett also added a kickoff return touchdown in American Heritage's state championship game. Advertisement Bennett joins a 2026 recruiting class for Florida State that ranks 35th nationally and 11th in the ACC currently, according to 247 Sports. His commitment earns Florida State its second four-star for 2026 and its highest-ranking recruit for the class. Big Ten Network football analysts pick B1G order of finish. Where is Ohio State?

Big Ten Network football analysts pick B1G order of finish. Where is Ohio State? It figures to be an unpredictable Big Ten football season. Ohio State won the College Football Playoff national championship last year but lost 14 guys to the NFL, so there's a to of talent to replace. Heck, despite winning the ultimate prize, the Buckeyes only finished in fourth place in the conference behind Oregon, Penn State, and Indiana. The Ducks won the League in their first season in the Big Ten, but they, too, have to replace some key pieces. Indiana figures to take a step back unless we get some more of that unexpected Curt Cignetti magic, and while Penn State probably has the most returning talent, the Nittany Lions have yet to show they can beat the top of the conference consistently. We haven't discussed Michigan yet, but it should be better than last season if it can continue to build off of a great finish. We'll take our stab at predicting how the teams will stack up in the conference in our own time, but two Big Ten football analysts got ahead of the game by doing so already. Former Michigan tight end and Columbus area native Jake Butt joined Adam Breneman to pick the order of finish in the Big Ten for the 2025 season, and there were indeed some differences. Here's how Butt saw things playing out with the top half of the League, with a nod to the good guys: Breneman differed not only on the champion of the league, but elsewhere as well. Here's how he sees the top nine shaking out: Penn State Ohio State Oregon Illinois USC Indiana Michigan Minnesota Iowa If this rings true -- even with the second-place finish predicted by Breneman -- you can go ahead and pencil Ohio State into the College Football Playoff again. However, buyer beware because, as we know, predictions like these are rarely correct, and there will be a slew of surprises and disappointments coming this fall.
