LSU football loses top quarterback target, four-star passer to SEC rival
LSU 2026 quarterback target Bowe Bentley committed to Oklahoma, per On3's Hayes Fawcett on Friday.
The Tigers made a push for the four-star passer during the spring, landing in Bentley's top two alongside the Sooners. However, after taking official visits to both within the last month, he decided to head to Norman.
Ranked No. 7 at his position and No. 11 out of Texas by On3's Industry Rankings, Bentley had a host of SEC offers to choose from. There have been multiple reports that say the Celina, TX native traveled to campus Friday to tell head coach Brent Venables and the staff in person.
LSU's 2026 class still ranks first in the conference and second nationally, but it remains in search of a quarterback. There are two top-10 uncommitted passers remaining, but the Tigers aren't considered finalists for either, nor anyone in the top 30. LSU will now move its focus to flip targets.
Just because Bentley committed doesn't mean he'll stop hearing from schools. Expect LSU to stay in his ear and possibly host him for another trip, and possibly for a game in Death Valley.

Where Auburn stands in Claude Mpouma's recruitment ahead of his June commitment date
Auburn remains in the mix to land the four-star lineman from Illinois ahead of his commitment date. Four-star offensive tackle Claude Mpouma included the Auburn Tigers in his top five schools this week, and has set a commitment date. Where does Auburn stand in the mix? The offensive lineman from Chicago, Illinois, announced on social media that he will announce his pledge on Sunday, June 29, and that Auburn is among the top programs that remain in contention to land him. The Tigers join Ohio State, Florida, Michigan, and Nebraska in the race for Mpouma's signature. A successful visit to the Plains earlier this month is a key reason why Auburn remains high on Mpouma's radar. In an interview with Jeffrey Lee of On3, Mpouma said that offensive line coach Jake Thornton and defensive line coach Vontrell King-Williams, who is an alum of the high school that Mpouma attends, is selling Auburn well and that Auburn is a "top three" school for him, and that they are not the No. 3 school for him. What makes Auburn special to Mpouma? 'The culture. They're pretty big on that,' Mpouma said in an interview with Auburn Live. 'I feel like that's a big thing, too. That's something I respect a lot.' Now that we know Auburn is one of the top schools to land Mpouma, what are the odds that they close the deal? On3's Recruiting Prediction Machine currently gives Nebraska a slight edge over Auburn, 33% to 24%. He has zero crystal ball predictions from 247Sports, but those predictions could start filing in this week ahead of his commitment date. Mpouma is a 6-8, 260-pound offensive tackle from Chicago, Illinois. He is considered a four-star prospect by every major recruiting outlet and ranks as high as No. 12 among offensive linemen rankings in 2026. Auburn's recruiting class ranks No. 57 in 247Sports' 2026 recruiting rankings, so a commitment fro Mpouma would do wonders for a class that is currently struggling in the rankings. Men's College World Series: LSU won't beat Rocco's Jell-O shot challenge record, but still dominates ahead of finals vs. Coastal Carolina
The Men's College World Series finals starts on Saturday, but LSU is already on its way to a crucial win. The school is once again dominating the competition in the Rocco's Jell-O shot challenge. With only the finals left to play, LSU holds a 23,000-shot lead over finalist Coastal Carolina. As of Friday night, LSU fans have consumed an incredible 30,577 Jell-O shots during the College World Series. That's nearly 22,000 more than the second-place Arkansas fan base has downed in Omaha. Chanticleers fans may be able to finish as the runner-up, but they have some work to do, currently in fourth place with 7,509 shots. While that number should increase during the finals, Rocco's Pizza and Cantina — which hosts the competition each year — didn't expect to see a ton of movement on its board Thursday or Friday with no games scheduled. Advertisement LSU and Coastal Carolina will square off in a best-of-three series starting Saturday. Game 2 of the series will be held Sunday. If a Game 3 is necessary, it will be played Monday. That gives LSU and Coastal Carolina fans five more days — at most — to run up this year's total. Rocco's Pizza and Cantina in Omaha started the Jell-O shot challenge in 2019. During the College World Series, fans of any of the eight teams in the tournament can buy $5 Jell-O shots as a show of support for their team. The fan base that consumes the most Jell-O shots "wins" the competition. Rocco's does donate a portion of each Jell-O shot to food banks. Rocco's Jell-O shot challenge record LSU is no stranger to dominating the event. The school holds Rocco's all-time record. In 2023, the LSU fan base consumed an incredible 68,888 Jell-O shots. Despite LSU still being in the 2025 College World Series, the record seems untouchable this year. As LSU has shown in the past, however, the school can't be counted out. Even if a new record won't be set in 2025, you can bet LSU fans will do their best to bump up their final tally before the College World Series ends.
