JSK
first arrived in theatres on July 17, 2025, but received mixed reactions from critics and audiences alike. The makers are now hoping that the digital release will help the film reach a wider audience across the country. ZEE5 will stream the movie not only in Malayalam but also in Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, and Kannada, making it accessible to viewers from different regions.
The post states, "This Independence day let's celebrate justice."
The film tells a gripping and sensitive story revolved around Janaki, a young survivor of sexual assault. Her quest for justice takes a difficult turn after the mysterious death of her father during a political protest. The drama explores the harsh realities faced by survivors and highlights the struggles within the legal system. Along with Suresh Gopi and Anupama Parameswaran, the cast includes Shruti Ramachandran, Madhav Suresh, Baiju Santhosh, Divya Pillai, and Aksar Ali, who play key supporting roles.
JSK
encountered obstacles with the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) due to its original title,
Janaki v. State of Kerala
. The board raised concerns because "Janaki" is also the name of the Hindu goddess Sita, and they found it inappropriate to associate the name with a rape survivor in the film's context. To secure certification, the filmmakers revised the title to
Janaki V vs State of Kerala
and muted the name "Janaki" during one courtroom scene as required by the board.
Suresh Gopi reacts to JSK OTT release
Suresh Gopi expressed his hope that the OTT release will amplify the powerful story of Janaki's courage and fight for justice. Speaking about his role as advocate David Abel Donovan, he said it was both a challenging and grounding experience to portray someone fighting for a survivor in court.
Written and directed by Pravin Narayanan,
JSK
is produced by J Phanindra Kumar under Cosmos Entertainments, with Sethuraman Nair Kankol as co-producer. ZEE5 promoted the film on Instagram with a strong message.

Case against Shwetha Menon: Kerala HC stays proceedings
Kochi: High court on Thursday stayed the police investigation and further proceedings in a case against Malayalam actor Shwetha Menon , based on a complaint alleging that she appears in obscene films and advertisements and thereby gains monetary benefits, until Sept 23. The interim order was issued by Justice V G Arun in a petition filed by Menon seeking to quash the case registered against her by the Ernakulam Central police. The case originated from a complaint referred to the police by the chief judicial magistrate (CJM) court, Ernakulam. While considering the petition, the bench observed that there appeared to be prima facie merit in Menon's contention that, before referring the complaint for investigation under Section 175 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), the magistrate ought to have complied with the procedural requirement of calling for a report from the investigating officer and conducting a preliminary inquiry. Given the short interval between the filing of the complaint and its referral to the police, the court noted that such procedures did not appear to have been followed. The court further directed the high court registry to call for a report from the CJM court, Ernakulam, regarding the procedure adopted after the filing of the complaint and before it was forwarded to police. Notice was also issued to the complainant. Additionally, the court orally remarked that it would refrain from commenting further on the merits of the complaint, as doing so would amount to judicial overreach. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like The Top 25 Most Beautiful Women In The World Articles Vally Undo The case stems from a private complaint filed by Martin Menachery of Thoppumpady in Kochi before the CJM court on July 31. The CJM court forwarded the complaint to police under Section 175(3) of the BNSS, which empowers a magistrate to refer a complaint to police for investigation. Acting on the referral, police registered a case against Menon on Aug 5 under Section 67A of the Information Technology Act, which pertains to the publication or transmission of sexually explicit content in electronic form, and Sections 3 and 5 of the Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act. This prompted Menon to approach HC. Menon's counsel pointed out that the complaint was filed on the last day for withdrawal of nominations in elections to various posts in Association of Malayalam Movie Artists (AMMA). He further alleged that the complaint was a dubious attempt to prevent Menon from contesting for the post of AMMA president. Veteran actor Dalip Tahil reflects on 45 years in cinema, notes shift from single screens to multi-platform era
Veteran actor Dalip Tahil , who has completed an impressive 45 years in the film industry, shared insights into how the landscape of cinema has transformed over the decades. Recalling the early days when single-screen theatres dominated and opportunities were limited, he noted the rise of OTT platforms, television, and multiplexes has now opened up a wider range of possibilities for actors and filmmakers alike. Reflecting on his career, Dalip told IANS, "When I started 45 years ago, there were only single-screen cinemas, and getting work was very difficult. Today, there are multiple platforms – OTT, TV, and multiplexes – so opportunities are more. But you must be clear about your reason for joining the industry. There's nothing wrong in wanting stardom, money, or a big house – but remember, before becoming a star, you must first become a good actor." When asked if there's a role he's most proud of over his decades-long career, the 'Baazigar' actor reflected on the many characters he's portrayed, each contributing in its own way to his growth as an actor. "I consider myself very fortunate to have worked in so many good films. Dalip shared, "My first superhit was 'My Dear Kuttichathan,' India's first 3D film in Malayalam. Then came 'Aaj Ki Aawaz,' 'Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak,' 'Baazigar,' 'Hum Hain Rahi Pyar Ke,' 'Kaho Naa... by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Become Fluent in Any Language Talkpal AI Undo Pyaar Hai,' 'Mission Mangal,' and more recently 'Special Ops 2' and 'The Family Man.' "I can't single out one role – my career has been blessed with great projects and talented colleagues," he added. Talking about his latest OTT project, 'Special Ops,' Tahil mentioned, "Working with Neeraj Pandey is a privilege. I admire him greatly. He first approached me for Special Ops season one, but that role didn't work out. For season two, he offered me a complex character. I trusted Neeraj's vision and played the role as guided. On OTT, the writers and directors control the narrative, and Neeraj is both courageous and creative."
