AGC appeals sentence for motoring influencer and brother in false report case
In a statement, the AGC confirmed the appeal was filed against the sentence given to Tengku Abdul Aziz, who pleaded guilty under Section 182 of the Penal Code for providing false information to a public servant.
The appeal also covers Tengku Nizaruddin, who admitted to abetting the offence under Section 109 of the Penal Code, read together with Section 182.
'This department refers to the Muar Magistrates' Court decision on July 25, 2025, which imposed a sentence of one month's imprisonment from the date of conviction on July 25, 2025, and a fine of RM1,500, in default three months' imprisonment on both offenders, Tengku Abdul Aziz and Tengku Nizaruddin.'
The AGC added, 'After examining and considering the decision of the Muar Magistrates' Court, this department has filed a notice of appeal today against the sentence handed down to both offenders.'
On July 25, the court sentenced Tengku Nizaruddin, 38, also known as 'Ija', and Tengku Abdul Aziz, 30, to one month's jail and a RM1,500 fine after both pleaded guilty. The siblings were ordered to begin serving their sentences immediately or face an additional three months in jail if they failed to pay the fine. - Bernama

KUCHING: The cunning tactic of a drug trafficking syndicate by using cars as "mobile stores" to deliver supplies to buyers was successfully foiled by the police in a special operation conducted in Kota Sentosa on July 19. Narcotics Criminal Investigation Department (NCID) director Datuk Hussein Omar Khan said the raid conducted by federal Narcotics Department together with the Sarawak Narcotics Department at 8.50pm also led to the arrest of two local men aged 25 and 27 in a Perodua Alza. He said the syndicate, which is believed to have been active since the beginning of this year, would leave vehicles containing drugs at certain locations unlocked, allowing buyers to collect supplies themselves without any physical interaction, to avoid being detected by the authorities. "The results of the inspection of the vehicle found a black bag and three brown boxes containing 80 packages marked "Guan Yin Wang" containing crystal lumps suspected of being syabu (methamphetamine). "The total seizure is estimated to weigh 83kg with a market value of around RM3.07 million and could potentially harm 415,000 individuals. "Police also seized cash amounting to RM1,100 under the Dangerous Drugs (Forfeiture of Property) Act 1988, making the total seizure worth RM3.072 million," he said at a press conference yesterday. Hussein said initial investigations found that the syndicate obtained drug supplies from Peninsular Malaysia via air routes to be marketed in Sarawak and Kalimantan, Indonesia. "Initial urine screening found that one of the suspects tested positive for amphetamine and methamphetamine, while the other had a criminal record with three offences related to gambling and providing false information. "Both suspects are now remanded for seven days from July 21 to 27 to facilitate further investigations," he said. Elderly woman dies in Segamat fire, police suspect foul play
SEGAMAT: A 73-year-old woman was burnt to death after a fire gutted her home and four other houses in Bukit Siput here on Friday, in what police believe involved elements of foul play. The victim's charred remains were found in the kitchen of her home, which she shared with several family members. The fire, which began in their house, quickly spread and engulfed four neighbouring homes along Jalan Francis School. District police chief Superintendent Ahmad Zamry Marinsah said the incident is believed to have occurred around 4.15am when the victim's son-in-law noticed the garage of the house was on fire. He said the man immediately rushed to alert other family members and get them out of the house. However, the elderly woman re-entered the home to retrieve some belongings but never made it back out. "The woman is believed to have been trapped, and her charred remains were found in the kitchen. The fire involved five single-storey houses, all of which were completely destroyed. "In addition, two cars and two motorcycles were also burnt. The fire was fully brought under control by 8am. Police investigations have revealed elements of foul play," he said when contacted. Ahmad Zamry added that investigations are ongoing to determine the cause of the fire. Police have opened an investigation under Section 304(a) of the Penal Code for causing death without intent, and Section 436 for mischief by fire. "Anyone with information about the incident is urged to contact the nearest police station or the Segamat district police headquarters at 07-9324222," he said.

[UPDATED] Six-year-old boy reported missing in Johor found buried in Negri Sembilan
SEREMBAN: The search for a six-year-old boy reported missing in Johor last week took a tragic turn when his body was discovered buried in Rompin in Jempol today. Negri Sembilan police chief Deputy Commissioner Datuk Ahmad Dzaffir Mohd Yussof said the body of the boy was found at 4.30pm following the arrest of a 36-year-old man. "Preliminary investigations showed that the victim was murdered and buried in the Rompin area. "The suspect led police to the location after being taken into custody," he said in a statement today. The case is now being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder, which carries the death penalty or imprisonment for up to 40 years, and whipping. The New Straits Times has learnt that the man in police custody is related to the boy. However, police have remained tight-lipped about the ongoing investigation. The suspect is believed to have known the victim, but police have yet to confirm the exact motive behind the killing. Police are expected to seek an extension of the suspect's remand as investigations continue into the circumstances surrounding the boy's death.
