Eagles survey season-ticket holders regarding new stadium
Via Zach Berman of PHLY, the Eagles sent an email to season-ticket holders regarding the future of the stadium.
'To help guide this vision, we're exploring potential updates to Lincoln Financial Field — including both renovation options and the possibility of a brand new stadium in the region,' the email explains.
As Berman notes, the current lease runs through 2032. Also, if (as owner Jeffrey Lurie has said) the goal is to play a Super Bowl in Philadelphia, a dome would be needed.
'I love outdoor football,' Lurie said in February, per Berman. 'I love the cold games. I like the hot games, like the snow games. On the other hand, Philadelphia deserves to host the Super Bowl, NCAA Final Four, lots of great events. It's an incredible sports city. Does it deserve it? Yes. So we have to balance all those things.'
Tipping the balance may be the cold, hard cash that comes from playing in nice, warm dome. Especially if it brings a Super Bowl to town.

Browns-Panthers preseason game gathered 2.3 million viewers
It's been revealed that the Cleveland Browns had very impressive viewership numbers in their first preseason game of the season. Friday night's matchup against the Carolina Panthers generated 2.3 million viewers on NFL Network. For comparison, the average number of NBA fans who tune into a regular season game is 1.53 million, according to Forbes. When it comes to giving out credit for this national attention, Cleveland can thank their rookie quarterback, Shedeur Sanders. Despite being fourth on the depth chart, the Browns started Sanders after injuries to other quarterbacks, Kenny Pickett and Dillon Gabriel. The rookie put on a show for his large audience, passing for 138 yards, two touchdowns, and zero interceptions in almost three full quarters of play. It was a phenomenal first start for Sanders that resulted in decisive throws and highlight-reel-worthy plays. This doesn't discredit any of the depth players who had solid performances on Friday, but it's no secret that Shedeur Sanders attracts national attention no matter how he performs. The Browns are expected to repeat their high viewership in their next preseason game on Saturday, August 16th. Cleveland will visit the reigning Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles and possibly face their starters for a series or two. Also expected to play is rookie quarterback Dillon Gabriel, who will now have to top Sanders's performance if he wants to claim the current spotlight. No matter the result, the Browns' quarterback room is one of the most popular storylines around the NFL.

Dolphins ready to 'strap back up' after embarrassing joint practice with Lions
The Miami Dolphins' first joint practice with the Detroit Lions went about as poorly as possible. While it wasn't without a good performance here and there from a few Dolphins, most onlookers thought it was as one-sided as a joint practice could be. Miami players didn't disagree after the session was over. "I think today offensively was a very frustrating day in regards to what we wanted to do, what we said we wanted to do," Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa told reporters. "Came out and we just weren't able to get things jumpstarted, so that was very frustrating today.' "If we want to be the type of offense that we are capable to be, we can't have that type of practice," said wide receiver Jaylen Waddle. "If you don't execute against a good team, good defense like that, then that's what it's going to look like.' On Thursday, the Dolphins will get another go against the team that humbled them. 'We're going to watch this tape when we get back and then we're just going to improve," Dolphins offensive tackle Patrick Paul said. "That's the best part of it. Going after it again. You know what you're getting, you watch the film. You know what you made mistakes on and then you go back the next day with conviction." While the practice had many sounding the alarms about the Dolphins' chances of success when the regular season arrives, joint practices aren't always the greatest indicator of what will come after August ends. Three years ago, the Philadelphia Eagles were thoroughly outperformed by the Dolphins in a joint practice. But that didn't stop the former from finishing 14-3 and earning a trip to the Super Bowl. "We'll go at it tomorrow," Waddle said. "Use it as a learning lesson and go back out tomorrow, correct it, and let's get it. Strap back up.'
