It's freedom for people of Pulivendula after three decades, says Nara Lokesh

VIJAYAWADA: TDP leaders described the victory of the party in the Pulivendula and Vontimitta ZPTC byelections as a referendum to the one year effective rule of the NDA government.
Particularly, with regard to winning the Pulivendula ZPTC bypoll, the TDP leaders said it is the victory of democracy as the people got the opportunity to exercise their franchise freely after three decades.
With #FreedomAfter30Years, TDP national general secretary and Minister for HRD and IT posted on X, 'The people of #Pulivendula and #Ontimitta have chosen progress over backwardness! For the first time in 30 years, Pulivendula has taken part in a truly democratic election process and the people have had the chance to cast their vote freely. Congratulations to Latha Reddy and Krishna Reddy on their well-earned victory. My heartfelt thanks to the people for turning out in large numbers to support our candidates.'
Minister for Energy Gottipati Ravi Kumar criticised YSRCP chief and former Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, stating that even his own Assembly constituency had lost trust in him.
'The Pulivendula ZPTC byelection result reflects the growing discontent among people against Jagan,' he observed.
Speaking to mediapersons at the party headquarters in Mangalagiri on Thursday, TDP general secretary Varla Ramaiah said while the people of the State expelled the YSRCP and Jagan in the general elections, now people of Pulivendula rejected him.

Naidu calls upon TDP leaders to thwart YSRCP's ‘vicious campaign'

Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu called upon TDP leaders to dispel the ''wrong notion created among the public by the YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) that Amaravati was flooded, the Prakasam Barrage was in danger due to heavy discharges caused by the recent downpour, and that the Kondaveeti Vagu lift irrigation scheme pumps were not working''. This false propaganda revealed that the YSRCP intended to derive political mileage by misleading the people. The YSRCP's conspiracy should be thwarted, he told the party leaders, including Ministers, MPs, MLAs, MLCs, Parliamentary leaders and zonal coordinators, in a teleconference on Monday. Mr. Naidu said while the coalition government managed to keep all of its electoral promises, mainly the Super Six schemes, in spite of constraints in the last one year, the YSRCP was trying all the tricks to show it in poor light. The elected representatives and the TDP cadres reached out to 1.24 crore families and explained what had been accomplished but the YSRCP kept up its mischievous campaign for obvious reasons notwithstanding the fact that the people were acknowledging the good work being done by the government. Mr. Naidu went on to say that the government filled nominated posts with the cadres who sweated it out for the success of the TDP, in order to reward them. On the other hand, the YSRCP was spreading false propaganda through its media houses thereby 'poisoning' the minds of the people. ''What the YSRCP is doing should not be ignored, lest the people should be influenced by its vicious campaign,'' he said, exhorting the party functionaries to be disciplined and alert to the YSRCP's machinations. They should refrain from involving themselves in controversies, he said. TDP committees The Chief Minister said the government would sternly deal with anti-social elements masquerading as politicians, and ordered that the formation of the TDP committees must be completed by the end of August. The TDP cadres have done a great job by securing an impressive victory in the ZPTC elections in Pulivendula and Vontimitta, he added.

Steel Minister urged to stop ‘calculated moves' to privatise Vizag Steel Plant

Following reports that the Union Steel Ministry has decided to contract out over 32 segments of Visakhapatnam Steel Plant's operations to private companies, former Secretary to the Government of India E.A.S. Sarma on Monday (August 18) shot off a letter to Union Minister for Steel H.D. Kumaraswamy, opposing the same and saying the move would destroy the VSP as a public-sector entity. Mr. Sarma said both the Centre and the NDA government at the State were making a series of calculated moves to destroy the Central Public Sector Enterprise (CPSE) character of the VSP. Refusing to allot a captive iron ore mine to the VSP while allotting multiple mineral blocks to private companies is one of such steps, he said, adding that the VSP was also not provided timely supply of inputs like coking coal. Mr. Sarma said the TDP-JSP combine was pampering ArcelorMittal with multiple concessions, such as land at a cheap rate, a captive port and the usual package of tax and other subventions, which total far more than the measly financial package of ₹11,440 crore by the Centre to the VSP. Mr. Sarma said the piecemeal privatisation of the RINL's operations, weakening its management and destroying its public sector character would result in the transfer of ownership of highly valuable land and machinery to private hands at an unconscionably low price, as no private promoter could ever afford to compensate the government for the true value of those assets. Privatisation of the VSP, either as a complete entity or in a piecemeal manner, would reduce employment opportunities for local youth in north Andhra, would permanently close the doors for reservations for SCs/STs/OBCs, which poses a serious socio-economic concern, he said. Mr. Sarma appealed to the Union Minister to stand by the employees of the VSP and the people of north Andhra by putting a stop to the moves.

YSRCP student wing protest bar on entry into schools

YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) student wing criticised the State government's decision to bar the entry of unauthorised persons into school premises. The YSRCP student wing, led by its district president Chandrasekhar Yadav, staged a protest by sitting on their knees in front of the Ambedkar statue near the Zilla Parishad office in Anantapur on Monday. They demanded the rollback of the decision of the Education Department which had directed the Regional Joint Directors (RJDs) and District Education Officers (DEOs) not to allow unauthorised individuals or groups into the school premises without prior permission from the head of the institution. Speaking at the protest, Mr. Chandrasekhar Yadav said that the government issued the circular fearing that its failure in education sector would come to light. 'If the State government is confident of delivering better governance, why should it bar the entry of student union leaders and others from entering schools?' he questioned. 'When a prisoner lodged in a prison is allowed to meet an outsider, why can't children be allowed to meet outsiders in their schools?, Mr. Chandrasekhar Yadav asked. He alleged that the education sector is in doldrums in the present dispensation and questioned the silence of Deputy Chief Minister and Jana Sena Party (JSP) chief Pawan Kalyan over the issue. The student wing State general secretary Vijay alleged that the education sector in the State has derailed in the one year rule of the NDA government.
