Meghalaya honeymoon murder: Sonam's brother says if he knew about relationship with Raj, ‘I would have...'
'Had I known, I would have gotten them married or I would have let her run away with Raj Kushwaha,' Govind said, according to Live Hindustan.
Govind, while standing with Raja's family, expressed that he still sees them as his own. 'I have come with Raja's family to perform his last rites… they are like my brother's family. If she (Sonam) is found guilty, she should be given the death penalty," he mentioned a few days ago.
Calling her sister 'stubborn and short-tempered", he stated, 'There was never any pressure from our side. If she didn't want to marry, she could have said so. What she did is unforgivable. She hasn't just shamed Indore, but the entire state of Madhya Pradesh.'
Raja and Sonam were married on May 11. They travelled to Shillong just ten days later, where Raja was allegedly murdered. Meghalaya Police have arrested Sonam, her lover Raj, and his associates for their suspected role in a premeditated conspiracy to kill Raja.
Raja's body was found on June 2 in a gorge near Weisawdong Falls. Initially, Sonam was believed to be missing, but she reappeared at a roadside eatery in Ghazipur on June 9 and turned herself in to the police.
The finals ritual 'pind daan' (an offering of abundant food items such as rice, barley, flour, and sesame seeds made in prayer for the souls of the departed) for Raja Raghuvanshi was completed by Indore-based businessman's family. Raja's brother Vipin confirmed that Govind had contacted the family to be part of the ceremony, saying, 'We told him he could come. It was his sister's mistake, after all."
According to authorities, Sonam's past relationship with Raj was a crucial factor in the murder plot and he is believed to be the mastermind in the case. As part of 'Operation Honeymoon', the SIT has gathered crucial evidence from both Indore and Ghazipur to piece together the sequence of events that led to the discovery of Raja's body in the Sohra region of Meghalaya.

Prayagraj: Kaushambi police went into a tizzy on Monday evening after the Meta Inc flashed an alert about a 20-year-old youth planning to commit suicide by consuming pesticide in the city. Based on the mobile number and geolocation provided by Meta, the cops searched the location and alerted concerned thana cops to take action. Within 10 minutes, a team of Pipri police rushed to the youth's residence in Gauhar Ali Ka Purwa Mazra. The youth, a graduate and currently working for a Maharashtra-based company, told police that it was just a prank. He said he had on Monday afternoon gone to his father's rice field, where he spotted his father spraying pesticide. He then picked up the cover of the pesticide bottle and decided to upload the video on Instagram. With the help of family members, sub-inspector AK Pandey counselled the youth, who promised not to repeat the act in future. It may be noted that under the collaborative system in place between Meta and Uttar Pradesh Police since 2022, any suicide-related post made on Facebook or Instagram triggers an email and call alert to UP Police. Govindan issues legal notice to biz man over allegations of letter leak
1 2 3 T'puram: CPM state secretary M V Govindan has sent a legal notice to Muhammed Sharshad, a Chennai-based Keralite businessman, who accused his son Syamjith of leaking a letter Sharshad had written to the party's politburo against another businessman. The legal notice stated that Sharshad's wanton allegations were intended to damage Govindan's prestige. It said Govindan was deeply concerned, aggrieved and prejudiced by Sharshad's false and baseless statements, wherein he recklessly imputed corrupt practices and alleged misuse of political status, credibility and responsibility against Govindan. It mentioned that the letter, which Sharshad claimed to have been leaked using Govindan's influence, was circulating on social media and was released by Sharshad himself. The notice also reminded him of a letter he wrote to the CPM on May 17, 2024, in which Sharshad sought an apology for his allegations against Govindan. The notice demanded that Sharshad withdraw the allegations against Govindan within three days of receiving the notice publicly. It required him to publish a statement withdrawing the allegations through the same forums, desist from repeating such allegations and remove his allegations from social media. Rly cops suspended for assaulting, robbing jeweller at Mum Central stn; suspended
Mumbai: Three men who assaulted and threatened a Rajasthan-based jeweller and extorted money from him at Mumbai Central Terminus recently have been identified as personnel from Govt Railway Police (GRP). They have been placed under suspension. The trio, assistant sub inspector Rathod, head constable Jagtap and head constable Bhosle, will be arrested soon. Four other policemen present during the incident have been transferred. The action was taken by GRP commissioner M Rakesh Kalasagar a day after media reports of the incident. "We are taking up this issue very seriously," said Kalasagar. The jeweller and his eight-year-old daughter had come down to his sister's place in Mumbai for Raksha Bandhan. They had booked return tickets for Rajasthan on Duranto Express on Aug 10. The jeweller's brother-in-law accompanied them to the Terminus to bid farewell. A 'senior' was seated in the room which was later identified as a beat chowky. The jeweller was threatened that he would be locked up overnight if he did not surrender the gold. He was abused and slapped twice. His daughter started to cry. The men threatened to produce the gold before a magistrate and asked him to arrange for a copy of his Aadhaar card over the phone. They also forced the jeweller to sign some blank sheets of paper. Around 10.55 pm, about five minutes before his train was to leave, the men returned his gold but kept his money. The jeweller pleaded that he would need cash for expenses during the journey. At this, the men returned Rs 1,900 and asked him to run if he still wanted to get into the train on time. "Based on CCTV footage, we identified the three policemen and placed them under suspension. Four other cops were present at the location but their involvement has not been confirmed.
