Collin Murray-Boyles leads Raptors to summer league semis with 20-point performance
Murray-Boyles produced a game-high 20 points, nine rebounds, four steals and two assists in an 81-69 victory over the Golden State Warriors at the Pavilion. He went 8 of 13 from the field, including 1 of 3 from 3-point range, and was a plus-22 in nearly 25 minutes on the court.
The ninth pick notched a summer league-high in scoring with the performance, accounting for 12 points alone in the first half. He did the majority of his work in the paint, either by getting downhill and finishing at the rim or cleaning up missed shots for easy putbacks.
Murray-Boyles is averaging 12.7 points, 6.3 rebounds, 2.3 steals and two assists on 60.9% shooting from the field in three appearances with the Raptors. He missed the Raptors' first game in the desert on July 11 due to a left adductor strain.
The 20-year-old has looked increasingly more comfortable with each appearance, culminating with his best outing on Thursday. He has showcased himself at a high level as a player who can impact games on both ends of the court, thanks to his intensity and instincts.
Murray-Boyles and the Raptors (4-0) earned a spot in the semifinals as one of the top teams after four games of action. They will face the Sacramento Kings on Saturday (4 p.m. EDT, ESPN).

Bronny James set to make Drew League move
The post Bronny James set to make Drew League move appeared first on ClutchPoints. Although Bronny James didn't close out the NBA Summer League, his summer exploits are not through. According to Mark Medina of Sportskeeda, James will participate in the pro-am Drew League, a community-based league in South Central Los Angeles. The league was founded in 1973 by Alvin Willis as a means to unite the community through basketball. In addition, the best high school, college, and pro players would come to play Charles Drew Junior High School and connect with the community. Among the players who have completed include Kobe Bryant, Paul Pierce, Kevin Durant, Paul George, and LeBron James. Bronny is entering his second full NBA season with the Los Angeles Lakers. Last year, he averaged 2.3 points per game and played in 27 games. During the Summer League, James averaged 14.3 points and 3.8 assists per game. He had a standout performance against the Boston Celtics, finishing with 18 points, five rebounds, and three assists. The Lakers are coming off a season in which they finished 50-32 before losing in the first round of the playoffs to the Minnesota Timberwolves. As for James, he is still very much living in the shadow of his father, who is heading into his 23rd season at the age of 40. But for the Drew League, this could be his breakout moment. Bronny James's coming-out party. The Drew League, much like the Rucker in Harlem, is a test of who can ball. In this instance, this is the time for Bronny to show what he has made of. Additionally, he could follow in his father's footsteps, who had tried his hand at this league. The people looking on will regard Bronny with a combination of anticipation and hesitation. But if he can show up and show out, there could be something to say about what he can bring to the Lakers. If Bronny can make it there, he can make it anywhere. Celtics' first-round pick named NBA Summer League disappointment
After the NBA Summer League concluded, the Boston Celtics had a productive outing, finishing with a 4-1 record. The Celtics' third-year guard Jordan Walsh was the team's standout for the Summer League, as his performance this year made him Boston's all-time Summer League scorer. This summer wasn't as productive for the Celtics' lone first-round pick in 2025, Hugo Gonzalez. Gonzalez was Boston's No. 28 pick in the 2025 NBA Draft out of Real Madrid. At just 19 years old, Gonzalez began playing professional basketball overseas at just 16 years old. He was most productive for Real Madrid in Liga ACB, playing in 29 games and averaging 5.2 points, 2.5 rebounds, while shooting 56.5% from the field in 14.2 minutes per game. His first Summer League in the NBA, however, was less impressive, according toThe Athletic's John Hollinger. "The questions about his skill level didn't exactly vanish with his play in Vegas. Gonzalez repeatedly lost his handle, including one notable turnover when he took a single dribble from a standstill and simultaneously had the ball picked and committed a clear path foul. He finished summer league with as many turnovers (13) as baskets and, in addition to shaky perimeter shooting, only shot 6 of 20 inside the arc," Hollinger said in an article. As a taller guard, Gonzales came into the NBA pre-draft process as a player who thrives in pick-and-roll situations, but his shooting ability from behind the three-point line (27.1% for Real Madrid last season) and habits of making passes off of one foot were labeled as problems for the 6-foot-6, 205-pound guard.

Suns' Khaman Maluach named summer league disappointment by NBA analyst
After debuting with the Phoenix Suns in the NBA Summer League, rookie Khaman Maluach was among the players whose struggles were highlighted by John Hollinger of The Athletic. Maluach finished by averaging 10 points, 5.7 rebounds and 1.3 blocks on 35.7% shooting from the field in three appearances in Las Vegas, Nevada. He debuted with 14 points and five rebounds on July 11 in a win over the Washington Wizards. The 10th pick struggled a bit to shoot, going 10-of-28 from the field, including 3-of-13 from 3-point range. He also left much to be desired on the glass, Hollinger explained this week. Phoenix opted to take the Duke project, and I'll emphasize the word 'project' here; his was a rough entry to professional basketball. The 7-1 Maluach only posted a 13.5 percent rebound rate, took nearly half his shots from 3 and had one assist in 70 minutes. Watching from courtside made me more concerned about his hands, as contested rebounds and alley-oop opportunities escaped him at times. Maluach was named to the ACC All-Freshman Team last season at Duke, averaging 8.6 points, 6.6 rebounds and 1.3 blocks on 71.2% shooting from the field. He was highly touted due to his versatility as a player who can both shoot and defend, boasting a 7-foot, 6 3/4-inch wingspan. The 18-year-old has impressed teammates and coaches early on after joining the organization last month. He showcased each element of his game that attracted the Suns in a small sample size, though the team likely wanted to see a bit more on the court. Maluach is highly thought of by the Suns after the front office turned down trade offers to select him with the 10th pick. The team is eager to work with him and help take his game to the next level, starting in training camp.
