
Tejano legend Flaco Jimenez passes away at 86 after battle with health issues
The news of the legendary Tejano musician and Grammy award-winner's death was announced by his family in a heartfelt message that read, 'It is with great sadness that we share tonight the loss of our father, Flaco Jimenez.
He was surrounded by his loved ones and will be missed immensely.'
The family also thanked his fans for their love and support over the years and said that his music and legacy will continue to live on. The family has requested privacy during this difficult time.
Although the exact cause of Flaco Jimenez's death has not been revealed, it was reported early this year, that he had been facing health issues. On January 12, he was hospitalized due to what was described as a 'medical hurdle.'
Later, the family gave an update saying he had returned home and was recovering well, thanking fans for their prayers and support.

Flaco Jimenez was a major figure in Tejano and conjunto music and had a huge impact on Tex-Mex culture. His album Partners was added to the U.S. Library of Congress's National Recording Registry in 2021.
Throughout his career, Jimenez won six Grammy Awards, including the prestigious Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award in 2015. He was celebrated not only for keeping traditional music alive but also for working with artists from different genres, making his music loved by many around the world.
