'No one knows John Wick better than Keanu,' says Wiseman on Keanu Reeves' cameo in 'Ballerina'

With a massive fan following for the John Wick franchise in India, Ballerina is poised to become the next big cinematic obsession read more
Directed by Len Wiseman, Ballerina tells the gripping story of Eve Macarro (Ana de Armas), a highly skilled assassin on a relentless quest for vengeance against those who destroyed her family. Set between John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum and John Wick: Chapter 4, this latest installment delivers the franchise's signature hard-hitting action, immersive world-building, and jaw-dropping stunts.
What sets Ballerina apart isn't just its fierce, emotionally charged protagonist — it's also how it reimagines the presence of John Wick himself. After reading the script, Keanu Reeves signed on to reprise his iconic role. Keanu typically undergoes six months of intensive training before he's ready to step onto a John Wick set ready to carry a dense action-packed film. But with BALLERINA, Reeves had the unique opportunity to contribute significantly to the film without as much pressure — or pain.

'It was an interesting prospect for him because it's Wick, but it's not Wick,' says Producer Erica Lee. As soon as he stepped on set, Reeves was 'deeply involved like he always is,' she adds. Reeves collaborated with Wiseman and contributed ideas by suggesting action sequences and tweaking dialogue, all of which enhanced the film. 'No one knows John Wick better than Keanu,' says Wiseman.
That authenticity extends beyond Wick's presence. As franchise architect and producer Chad Stahelski points out, Ballerina offers a refreshing take on a character who has always been wrapped in myth. 'If you go back to the first film, John is a bit of a bogeyman,' he notes. 'So, it's interesting to experience John from Eve's perspective. He's still John Wick, and still a force to be reckoned with, but in another way. It's a slightly different Wick, because we're seeing him through the eyes of Eve.'
And Eve isn't just any newcomer. She's a force in her own right — fierce, flawed, and forged by loss. Unlike the larger-than-life superheroes that dominate modern cinema, Eve is grounded. She bleeds. She fights back. She transforms.
PVRINOX Pictures continues its strong commitment to Indian audiences, rolling out Ballerina with an extensive theatrical release across multiple languages like English, Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu.
As Ballerina gears up to bring its explosive action to Indian theatres on June 13th, the excitement is just getting started. With a massive fan following for the John Wick franchise in India, Ballerina is poised to become the next big cinematic obsession.

Tipsy rural T pips all states in IMFL & beer consumption

Hyderabad: Consumption of Indian-made foreign liquor (IMFL) and beer per person is more in rural Telangana than any other state in the country—excluding the Northeast—outpacing even its own urban population. According to the latest data from the National Institute of Public Finance and Policy, rural Telangana residents spend an average of Rs 3,061 per person on IMFL and beer annually, compared to Rs 2,961 in urban areas. This reversal of the usual pattern—where cities consume more—underscores a distinctive drinking culture in the state's villages. Industry experts say this rural-urban flip is rare. While other southern states show some preference for foreign liquor over traditional brews, Telangana's rural dominance is unmatched. Outside the Northeast, Delhi's rural areas follow with Rs 2,294 per person, trailed by Tamil Nadu (Rs 1,901), Uttarakhand (Rs 1,782), Andhra Pradesh (Rs 1,429), Karnataka (Rs 1,201), and Kerala (Rs 833). In contrast, traditional intoxicants—country liquor, beedis, tobacco, toddy—have a smaller market in South, particularly in Kerala, Tamil Nadu, and Telangana. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Is your dog jumping up on you? Here's what it means Undo Vinod Giri, director general of Breweries Association of India, attributes this pattern to both economic strength and product availability. "The rural economy in most southern states is strong, and there is a weak presence of country liquor. Telangana has shown this trend for the past decade," he said. Market access also plays a role. In rural Telangana, IMFL and beer are supplied through an organised and systematic network, overseen by the state's beverages corporation. Kishan Peddapally, owner of Asav Wines, says this system ensures rural demand is met as efficiently as in urban areas. Market analysts point out that this combination of higher disposable incomes, limited traditional liquor options, and a robust distribution system has cemented IMFL and beer as the preferred choice in rural Telangana. It also signals how rural consumption patterns are shifting in parts of India, where village markets now mirror urban preferences—not just in liquor but in broader lifestyle choices. With data showing the trend has held steady for a decade, rural Telangana's thirst for premium alcoholic beverages appears set to continue.
